Author's Notes:

This was my first so thank you for reading ! Also Im French so pardon my English.

Kurt is exhausted. He loves New York but at the end of a shitty day at the end of a hard and long week, the noise and the crowd makes his skin crawl. He is so tired that he could just fall asleep on the subway …well; he could if only he had managed to find a sit.

Kurt exits the subway station and is met with a wave of ice cold wind. God he can't wait to be home. As he walks hurriedly, Kurt lets his mind drift to what awaits him once in the warmth of the small condo in the village that's their home for 4 years now. He can almost smell the wonderful dish Blain cooked for them and hear the happy voices of his kids greeting him with hugs. God he is lucky and he isn't sure he'll ever stop to be amazed that this is his life.

Some ten minutes later he finally reaches the stone steps of the building. Two more flies of stares and he'll be able to relax.

He pushes the door open bracing himself to be tackled by two small bodies screaming with delight. Except… no one come to great him. Surprised and a little bit disappointed, Kurt takes off coat, scarf and shoes listening hard for a sign of life in the apartment. Nothing. There isn't anything cooking in the kitchen either. That's weird he thinks, Blaine usually has something ready for when he comes home late. Not that he has too; Blaine isn't the only on cooking and Kurt would never just expect him to. Blaine isn't there to ‘keep his dinner warm” while he brings home the bacon! That's just not how they roll. But to be honest Kurt is starving and Blaine has a way of marking wonders out of leftovers. Kurt lets out a sigh he is bone deep tired and the thought of starting a meal from a meal from scratch seems almost unbearable. He goes to open the fridge and calls out: “Honey, what do you want for dinner? Wow, we need to go grocery shopping there's nothing left in here!”

Blaine must be playing with the kids or working because at that point he is usually blabbing on about the day they had and the color painting they did and asking him how was work … all those little moments of their nice routine. “We'll just eat breakfast” he decides. Dropping one last look into the mostly empty fridge Kurt closes the door and searches the apartment for his missing family.

No one in the living room though the coffee table is covered with sharpies and drawings, Blaine's not in their office/music room, no sound coming from the bathroom. Their bedroom door is ajar and Kurt catches a glimpse of their king-size bed all ruffled. That detail alert him. Blaine‘s a little bit of a control freak with order and likes for the bed to always be made. Well he must have been distracted, after all he is the one who spend his days trying to stop their kids to wrack the place; he is allowed to be overworked sometimes!

Still it's weird; it looks like no one's home. Maybe they went out for a walk or visiting a friend. Kurt can't recall any play dates scheduled though. They can't be in the kids' room…from what he knows of his beautiful family, there's no way these three are this quiet!

To make sure, Kurt pushed open the door of the nursery. Nothing would have prepared him for the sight that meets his eyes. First he only sees an indescribable mess, the room looks like a battle field, a very colorful battlefield. To be precise, it seems as if a bomb has exploded inside a pile of sheets and blankets. A look closer tells Kurt that the apparent chaos is, in fact, a very elaborate blanket fort tied to the top of the bank-beds and the dresser; held in place with a complex system of ropes, clothe pegs and broom handles. The fort itself is made of what Kurt now recognizes as his and Blaine's bed sheets.

Kurt sight some more but smiles fondly. Of course they made a fort.

Suddenly a light snore breaks the silence of the room. Kurt moves slowly inside he room and ducks to see inside the fort. The site is almost too cute to handle.

Inside of the sheet construction is made of what seems to be every pillow they own and a bundle of blankets. The ruff is lit with Christmas lights and paper stares are hanging from everywhere. It's magnificent, cozy and very tempting. However, it's not the cozy fort that makes Kurt's chest harm up and get all fuzzy. It's the site of his husband fast asleep under the form of two little bodies tangled with him. The twins are curled up on their father in a mess of limbs and slick, dark curls. Kurt can almost feel his heart painfully swell in his rib cage. God he loves them so! His chicks hurt from grinning so much. Suddenly nothing seems wrong with the world and he wishes nothing more than to curl up with them for a life time.

But his stomach doesn't agree and ramble a bit; Kurt takes out his phone and snaps several pictures of this adorable bunch of nuggets and slowly exits the room. He quickly change into sweatpants and goes to the kitchen settling the kettle on the stove.

Blaine is woken up by movements at his side. “Hello sleepy head” a soft voice song sings. He opens his eyes and is almost blinded by the enormous grin on his husband face. Kurt is sitting at the entrance of the fort with a huge tray filed with toasts and mugs of hot chocolate and tea.

“I thought we could eat breakfast for dinner and cuddle here tonight with books. After all, you guys did a very impressive job here! It would be a shame to not use it! “

“Yeah!” cheer two high voices, and Blaine grumbles as their kids escalade him to greet their father.

“Ok kiddos make room for your Papa” smile Blaine sitting up and taking the tray and setting it in the middle of the tent, pushing aside some pillows. Kurt on his hands and knees crawls inside, hugging the twins and coming up to Blaine for a kiss.

“Busy day I see” he whispers smiling.

“You're not too made?”

“It's adorable, you're adorable.” Murmur Kurt against his lips.

“Best. Family. Ever.”
