ThisKurt's favorite day had always been Sunday. Ever since he moved to New York two years ago, every Sunday morning he would get up and take a walk in Central Park. Rain or shine. It was calming being away from the busy bustle his life usually was. Even if it was only for a few hours a week. This Sunday he had awakened particularly early. He didn't usually get up this early but he really wanted to see the sun rise. His body protested when he dragged himself out of bed but his brain protested more when he flopped back onto the mattress. So he put on a pair of sweats and a hoodie, for once not caring what he looked like. He grabbed his keys off the table and shut the door of his little shoebox apartment after him. The morning air made Kurt's breath ghost out in front of him as he walked down the familiar path to Central Park. He fished his iPod out of his sweater pocket and selected the first song that came up. "This" by Ed Sheeran. Kurt's friend, Rachel had told him how she loved Ed Sheeran but Kurt hadn't really listened to anything by him before. The soft guitar played in Kurt's ears as the song began.
"This is the start of something beautiful."
Kurt was now in Central Park, sitting down on the bench he always sat in on those rare occasions he got up early to see the sun rise. There were two identical benches to the right of him. Kurt only looked away from the tall, majestic buildings of New York when a curly-haired, bushy-eyebrowed stranger sat on the bench next to him. Kurt eyed him warily. He didn't look like a serial killer of any sort. In fact when the stranger saw Kurt eyeing him he shot him a huge grin. Kurt was taken aback for a second but then smiled back at the friendly stranger.
"This is the start of something new."
The stranger was cute, Kurt decided. Actually, he was gorgeous. Kurt's eyes kept wandering from the bits of orange light breaking over the imposing buildings of New York to the beautiful eyes of the man next to him. He was unaware that the stranger was doing the same thing.
"And you are the one who could make me lose it all."
The orange glow around the edge of the sky was now turning a beautiful shade of pink. But Kurt still couldn't keep his eyes off the gorgeous stranger. Kurt wondered if he should go talk to him or if he should let him make the first move. Kurt never made the first move. So he waited patiently for the stranger to speak up.
"And you are the start of something new."
Suddenly, is the best way to explain it, the stranger spoke. "Beautiful isn't it?" Kurt stared at him for a couple seconds in awe at the sound of his perfect voice"Yeah, it's ... Gorgeous." Kurt said nervously. They sat in silence for a couple minutes until they both decided to speak up. "Hi, I'm Blaine Anderson.""Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel." Their voices rang out simultaneously. They stared into each others eyes for a second before laughing. "Hi Blaine." Kurt said smiling. "Hello Kurt!" Blaine grinned back at him. "So do you always go to Central Park at 6:00 am or is this a one time thing?" Kurt asked Blaine with a smirk playing on his lips. "Well I just thought if the neighbors dog was going to be noisy and wake me up at four am again I might as well make good use of the time." Kurt laughed. "What about you?""What can I say? I'm a morning person. I just love Central Park too. Especially in the morning when there's no one around.""Except axe murderers." Blaine said seriously but then broke it by grinning that huge grin that Kurt was beginning to adore. "And cute strangers." Oops. Kurt blushed a light pink. "I meant ... Um that ... I-I umm.." Kurt stammered now turning a darker shade of pink. Blaine just smiled happily. "There are cute strangers as well." he said looking into Kurt's glasz eyes. Kurt looked up at Blaine and laughed.
"You are the earth that I will stand upon."
"Hey, umm do you wanna, maybe, go get some coffee? Now?" Kurt asked hopefully. "Or later if you prefer I guess. I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to but I just thought maybe -" "Really?!" Blaine blushed. "I mean, yeah, I'd love to!" Blaine hesitated for a moment but then reached out and took Kurt's hand. "I'd love to." he said again. Sparks shot through both their bodies. Blaine's hand felt warm in Kurt's cold one. They smiled at each not either of them wanting to move, just wanting to stay like that for a little while longer. A cold gust of wind snapped them back into reality. "Hey I know this cute little coffee place/bakery down the street?" Blaine said it just like that. Like a question. Kurt grinned from ear to ear. He nodded, unable to really process words at the moment.
"You are the words that I will sing."
They walked to the little coffee place/bakery never letting go of each others hands. Secretly stealing glances at one another.
"Take me back. Take me home. Watch me fall down to earth."
They sat down in a booth near the window of the coffee place/bakery called Monet's. A young girl came to wait on them and smiled when she saw the loving glances to two were giving each other as they flowed with conversation. "A non-fat mocha for me." Kurt said not taking his eyes off Blaine. "I'll have a medium drip." Blaine also not daring to look away from Kurt's blue-green green-blue eyes. "Do you want to go watch the sunrise tomorrow again?" Kurt asked cautiously. He wasn't used to asking guys out like that. Not that looking at the sun rise was much of a date. But nevertheless Blaine shot Kurt that same goofy grin he had when they first met. "Yeah it'll be fun!" Blaine said, flushed."It was beautiful today wasn't it?" Kurt remarked. Not that he had really been looking at the sky. "Not as beautiful as you." Blaine said and blushed red. "I-I mean ... That you umm ... I... " Blaine stuttered out. Just like Kurt had earlier. Kurt bit his lip. He thought Blaine was absolutely adorable when he was all embarrassed like that.
"This is the start of something beautiful."
Kurt took Blaine's hand again. They kept talking and laughing until Monet's closed. Something about them just clicked. Neither one of them had ever felt a connection like that before. They didn't want to leave each others sides. When Monet's closed they exchanged numbers. Then, reluctantly, they went home. The next morning though, they linked hands and sat in the bench farthest to the left and watched the sun paint the city with light and warmth. Blaine leaned toward Kurt and pulled him close. His lips touched softly against Kurt's just as the suns light hit them. The kiss was sweet and lingering. It was their first kiss. It was perfect.
"You are the start of something new."
