Blaine sat with the other mechanics around a too small wooden table in the room towards the back of the shop. It was Blaine’s first week working at Hummel’s Tires and Lube, but his previous experience rebuilding cars with his father had proven useful. It was now lunch time and after scrubbing his hands for ten minutes with soap and water, he’d cleaned enough oil from his hands to eat.

Blaine was about to take a bite out of his chicken salad sandwich when he saw a figure pass by the window that occupied half of the front wall and showed into the main shop. He couldn’t take his eyes off the man; chestnut brown hair styled to almost defy gravity with its volume; flawless skin that seemed to glow under the florescent lighting; tight jeans that screamed sin. Blaine vaguely noticed himself gaping as his sandwich fell unceremoniously from his hand.

Without taking his eyes off the delectable creature on the other side of the window, Blaine grabbed onto the arm of the person closest to him, tugging on the shoulder of their jumper. “Sam? Sam, who is that?” he asked, speaking quietly as if simply speaking about the man would frighten him away. Sam glanced over to where Blaine was looking.

“Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. Don’t even think about it, Blaine. That is off limits.”

“What? Why?” Blaine asked, breaking his gaze on the beautiful man to stare wide eyed at Sam.

“Because, dear Blaine, that,” grabbed Blaine’s chin and swiveled his head so he was looking back at the man, “is the boss’s son.” Blaine blinked.

“Burt- but I thought Finn was Burt’s son.”

“People can have two sons,” Sam said with a slight chuckle. “Finn’s his step-son. Kurt’s his. Like, he came from his-”

“Yeah, yeah, I got it,” Blaine said, pushing Sam’s shoulder. Blaine sat back in his chair, content to watch the man. “Kurt, huh?”

“Stop it, Blaine. Just stop right now. I know you. You think he’s pretty, right?”

“Pretty?” Blaine said, exasperated. “Pretty doesn’t even begin to describe him.” Sam gave him a warning look.

“And now you want to go talk to him, right?”

“I can’t just go talk to him, Sam! Look at him! And, look at me.” Blaine said, gesturing to his dirty coveralls.

“I don’t want you to, Blaine. This is good, see? Don’t talk to him. Don’t look at him. Don’t think about him. You need this job, Blaine. You don’t want something like that screwing it up.” Blaine bit his lip. Sam was right. Of course, Sam was right. Blaine had just started working here and even though Burt Hummel already had a lot of men working at the tire shop, he’d still hired Blaine. Blaine couldn’t return the favor by asking out his son. Besides, Kurt probably wouldn’t even like Blaine. The whole thing was pointless. And yet-

The door to the office opened then and Burt walked in. He quickly glanced around the room before his eyes landed on Blaine’s. He didn’t say anything, just pointed at Blaine and then jabbed his thumb behind him, motioning for Blaine to follow him out into the shop. Blaine glanced over at Sam quickly, who shrugged, before jumping out of his seat and climbing over the other men around the table and walking out into the main shop.

“Blaine Anderson, this is my son, Kurt.” Burt motioned to his son, who now that Blaine could see clearly was definitely not pretty and instead very, very resplendent. Kurt smiled at him and Blaine tried to smile back but he probably just looked constipated. “What do you think, kiddo?” Kurt narrowed his eyes and began to look at Blaine everywhere, even walking around him in a circle and Blaine suddenly felt very self-conscious.

Finally, Kurt came back into view and stopped before him. “He’ll do,” Kurt said and Blaine glanced back and forth between the two Hummels to try and figure out what the hell was going on.

“My son here is studying to be a designer and he needs a model to work with and design clothes for. You up for the job?” Blaine blinked at Burt. Was he offering Blaine an excuse to spend time with his son? “I’ll pay you extra.” Oh he had to have been joking. Blaine looked at Burt for a moment longer before turning to look at Kurt, waiting for one of them to start laughing.

“So, what do you say?” Kurt asked and oh, even his voice was magnificent.

“I’m not sure I’m qualified,” Blaine said, but he was already sold. Kurt smiled and shrugged.

“All you have to do is wear my clothes and look handsome. You’re already half way there.” And now Blaine was blushing because really, Kurt thought he was handsome and flirting in front of his father and this had to have been the best day of Blaine’s life.

Blaine clapped his hands together and hoped his didn’t sound too eager when he smiled and said, “When do I start?”
