Author's Notes: Characters: Kurt/Blaine, Santana/Blaine (friendship), Santana/KarofskySo this little scene (or variations of it) have haunted me since Born This Way aired. I couldn't resist the call of writing Santana/Blaine interaction, and this is what came of it. It's not quite what I thought it would end up being, but I like it...I think. I am lame and filled my own prompt. It's here (http://kurt-blaine.livejournal.com/1044448.html?thread=77519584#t77519584). Spoiler through 2.18 . Warning for homophobic comments.
“What are you doing here, Anderson?” Santana asked as Blaine slid into the auditorium seat in front of her and Karofsky.

“You didn't think I'd miss this, did you?” Blaine replied. “Besides, I wanted to make sure that certain people were keeping their word.” His eyes shifted to Karofsky, who glared at him.

“I haven't laid a hand on your precious boyfriend, Fairy.” Santana was the one glaring now. Blaine was glad he wasn't on the receiving end. Santana's glares were definitely in the “if looks could kill” category.

“You do realize that insulting me is like insulting yourself, right?” Blaine told him. “You really should speak to someone about your issues.” Karofsky just slumped down in his seat. “Why aren't you down there?” Blaine tilted his head toward the stage, but kept his gaze on Santana.

“None of your business,” she snapped, her arms crossed over her chest. Blaine sighed and turned around. He didn't know what to make of Santana. She'd stood up for him and Kurt against Karofsky a few weeks ago, only to start dating the guy to be prom queen.

The other members of New Directions were goofing around on stage, talking to Rachel and laughing as Mr. Schuester showed off his shirt. Blaine could barely keep his eyes off of Kurt. His boyfriend was wearing a red and black plaid jacket and blue jeans (albeit, skin tight ones), and it was probably the most sedate Blaine had seen him dress when he wasn't wearing a Dalton uniform.

Blaine wondered what that was about, but he didn't have to wonder long.

The others immediately left the stage and suddenly Kurt was by himself in the middle. Blaine felt himself gasping aloud as the song started and Kurt began speaking the opening lines.

Mercedes and Tina came out and joined Kurt on the stage. Kurt was in the middle, his arms raised in the air, wrists pressed together (and no, that didn't put all kinds of ideas in Blaine's head, not at all), and the each of the girls reached up a hand and just ripped Kurt's jacket open. Blaine's jaw dropped.

“Your boyfriend is a kinky bitch, Anderson. Just you wait and see,” Santana spoke up from behind him. He barely registered her words, let a lone the longing in her voice. It was just as well that he didn't notice, as he wouldn't have known what to make of it anyway.

That was officially the hottest thing he'd ever seen....until he read Kurt's shirt.

Likes Boys.

The sharp intake of breath behind him let Blaine know that Karofsky had seen it too, and Blaine pushed away his angry feelings. Karofsky didn't have the right to...want Kurt that way. Not after everything.

More and more members of New Directions were joining them; Tina, Mercedes and Kurt were passing the solos between them, and then Kurt ran forward for his solo section, slipping his jacket off and tossing it into the first row of auditorium seats.

This quite possibly be the most skin Kurt had ever shown at one time, the sleeves on the t-shirt he was wearing coming to a stop at his mid upper arm. Blaine was transfixed as Kurt moved with the other boys to the back of the group, and holy hell, Kurt's hips...

Blaine realized he was gripping the arm rest of the seat in his hand so hard it was starting to hurt, and he forced his fingers to relax.

Then they all came to the front of the stage, everyone's jackets gone now. For the first time, Blaine really got what it meant for Kurt to come back here. Sure, he'd spent time with Kurt and Kurt's friends (and some of them were his friends now too – Mercedes, Rachel, Tina and Finn definitely), but he'd never seen Kurt perform with them until now. Had never seen how just being with them transformed Kurt. He was more alive, more passionate in his performance.

He was truly himself here.

The ache in Blaine's chest intensified, because he missed Kurt being at Dalton – it was clear, however, that this was where he belonged.

The performance started to wind down; Kurt, Mercedes and Tina took to the middle of the stage, the others dancing around them in a circle – even Mr. Schuester and another teacher. The song ended, and they all came together, laughing and hugging and slapping high fives. Blaine felt rooted to his chair, his mind blown by what he'd just seen. A quick glance behind him indicated that Santana and Karofsky had been affected by the performance too, though both of their expressions were unreadable.

Kurt was the only one who'd thrown his jacket off the stage, and the others had already picked theirs up, and were laughing and talking as they headed backstage, their voices echoing in the auditorium. Kurt came down from the stage, jumping to the floor and bending down slightly to pick up his jacket.

Blaine couldn't help himself, letting out a wolf whistle. Kurt's head whipped around, his expression slightly panicked before catching sight of Blaine. A huge smile formed on Kurt's faced and Blaine watched as Kurt darted up the aisle way to where he was sitting. Blaine stood up as Kurt reached him, his boyfriend throwing his arms around Blaine in an excited hug.

“What are you doing here?” Kurt asked, his eyes sparkling.

“A little bird told me about your performance. I decided I needed to see it.” Blaine smiled, holding Kurt tightly. He was never more thankful for the text from Rachel than right now.

“So what did you think?” Kurt sounded a little breathless.

“I like your shirt.” Blaine let his eyes drift down to look at it before meeting Kurt's gaze. “And I didn't see any baby penguins anywhere.”

“Oh.” Kurt's eyes were wide, staring into his.

“Before you two start humping like rabbits or doing something freaky with penguins or whatever, you should know that we're still here,” Santana interjected. Kurt ripped his gaze away from Blaine's to peer behind him, clearly seeing Santana and Karofsky behind him if the way he stiffened in Blaine's arms was any indication.

“You should have joined us,” Kurt addressed Santana, seemingly ignoring Karofsky.

“David needed to see this and someone had to make sure he sat through it.” Kurt pressed his lips into a straight line before nodding slowly, and Blaine frowned. He didn't like seeing Kurt like this.

“Wanna go for coffee?” Blaine asked, getting Kurt's attention.

“Sure,” Kurt replied. “I just need to grab my bag out of my locker, and change really quickly.” Blaine really wished they lived somewhere that Kurt could wear his shirt out in public. Here in Lima, it could quite likely get him into serious trouble. “Nice shirt,” he said to Santana, before squeezing Blaine tightly and then pulling away to go get his stuff. Blaine watched him leave before turning back to the pair behind him. He eyed Santana's shirt.

“Lebanese?” he read out loud. Karofsky gave her a shifty glance as Santana looked down at her t-shirt.

“Brittany made it for me,” Santana murmured, her eyes meeting his with a defiant glare, as if she was daring him to comment. So many things suddenly made sense for Blaine in that moment. Santana's sudden love for Karofsky, her plan to get Kurt back at McKinley.

She was doing it because of Brittany.

“She did a good job,” Blaine replied, giving her a soft smile. Santana just huffed and stood up.

“Come on, Dave,” She practically commanded. “We need to go up to Lover's Lane and make out or something.”

“Seriously?” he replied, shooting Blaine a look.

“Do you want to be Prom King or not?” Santana grabbed him by the arm, leading him out. Blaine chuckled quietly. He did not envy Karofsky. Being stuck in the closet with Santana seemed almost the perfect revenge for what he'd put Kurt through. It was a start, anyway.

“You ready?” Kurt's voice rang out, and Blaine turned to look at him. Kurt was still wearing the t-shirt, but the words had been covered up by a black vest, and an artfully draped black and white checked scarf.

“Always,” Blaine murmured, joining Kurt and taking one of Kurt's hands in his.

They headed out of the auditorium, and Blaine smiled. He was really glad he'd come to watch the performance. Not only had he seen a new side of his boyfriend (one that he couldn't wait to explore), but he was definitely more secure in Kurt's safety. Santana had Dave Karofsky on one hell of a short leash.

Maybe Santana had the right idea after all, teaming up with Dave and getting him under control where Kurt was concerned. Even though Blaine missed Kurt terribly, he couldn't help but be grateful to her. Kurt did a little shimmy next to him while they walked, humming the melody to 'Born This Way', and Blaine fought back a smile.

It was worth it to see Kurt so happy.
