The entire weekend had been a little surreal, but this really took the cake.

Dave Karofsky was sitting in Kurt's living room (albeit, looking awkward and uncomfortable as hell).

Blaine didn't even know how to reconcile this information with everything he knew about Karof – Dave.

He and Kurt had been curled up under a blanket on the couch, watching the last of the requisite prom movies (though they'd ended up taking Carrie off the list). They'd started last night, watching them with Finn, the three of them camping out in the living room (the only way Burt would agree to let Blaine stay over), and while Finn had disappeared halfway through Pretty in Pink when then continued this morning (presumably to try and fix the mess he'd made with Quinn), the two of them had been enjoying the movie.

Then the doorbell had rung, and Dave had been standing on Kurt's front porch with Santana.

Blaine had been the one to answer the door, and he'd stared at the pair, unsure of what to say.

“Look, Anderson, I know my fabulousness has the capability to render men speechless, and it's great to know I've got an effect on the gay population, but it's kind of chilly out here, so can we come in or what?” Santana said. Blaine blinked at her for a moment.

“Blaine, who is -” Kurt came up behind him. “Santana, Dave,” he continued, sounding surprised. One eyebrow was arched up as he stared at them.

“Hummel, your boyfriend is blocking the door. Can we come in or not?” Santana glared at Blaine.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Kurt replied, pulling Blaine by the arm so he would step back. They came in, heading into the living room. Dave sat down in the arm chair, and Santana sank into the empty end of the couch. Kurt picked up the blanket, tossing it over the back of the couch and then he and Blaine sat down too.

The movie was paused, and Santana glanced at the tv as they sat in awkward silence.

“Prom movies,” Kurt explained.

“I would think you'd want nothing to do with prom,” she replied.

“What would make you think that?” Kurt answered drily, his tone last with sarcasm. He stared hard at Santana and Dave. “Not that I'm not glad to see you or whatever, but why are you here?”

“Dave has some news,” she said. Dave swallowed uncomfortably as they all turned to look at him.

“The head of the yearbook staff called me this morning,” Dave began.

“Oh, crap.” Kurt seemed to know where Dave was going with this, but Blaine was confused.

“What?”

“They really want to put us in the yearbook?” Kurt asked, effectively answering Blaine's question. Dave nodded. “I didn't even think...” His voice cracked a little. Blaine put his arm around Kurt, squeezing his shoulder. “This isn't just going to blow over, is it?”

“Probably not,” Blaine told him. “You don't have to do it, you know.”

“You, of all people, know why I do,” he sighed. “I hate yearbook photos. I haven't been able to bring myself to look at the school's copy of last year's.”

“It's not pretty,” Santana told him.

“You would know,” Kurt pointed out.

“Guilty as charged.”

“If I agree to do this, are you going to show up?” Kurt turned to Dave.

“Yes,” he answered.

“You know people will talk,” Kurt stated the obvious.

“I'm not entirely sure they aren't already,” Dave covered his face with his hands for a moment.“Sure, they voted you Prom Queen, and that...that sucks.” He sighed. “But they voted me Prom King knowing they were going to vote you Queen, and what does that say?”

Blaine was startled. He'd never once looked at the situation that way.

“They intended to humiliate you the way they wanted to humiliate me,” Kurt murmured. “I'm sorry.” Dave waved away his apology. “So you're gonna...” Kurt trailed off, his eyes on Santana. Dave followed his gaze.

“Come out?” Dave said. Kurt's eyes widened. “Not...yet.” Dave leaned forward. “I know you keep saying that I should, that it would make it better, but I'm not there yet, okay?” Kurt nodded, biting his lip.

“It would just be nice to not be the only one,” He said quietly, and then looked at Santana. “You know?”

“Of course I know,” Santana leaned back against the couch. “It was my idea to pretend to date so we'd get voted for Prom King and Queen.” She examined her nails, avoiding looking at them. “You of all people should know what a beard is, Hummel.”

“What is she talking about?” Blaine asked Kurt.

“You haven't told him?” Santana laughed. “Oh, Anderson. You really don't think you're the first person he's dated, do you?”

“He is,” Kurt snapped.

“So you and Brittany were just what? Friends with benefits?” Blaine was pretty sure his mouth was hanging open in surprise at this point. Kurt and Brittany?

“You know it wasn't like that,” Kurt exclaimed. “God, Santana, you make it so hard to like you. Why is that?”

“My natural charm.” She smirked. “I will say this though. If making out with Brittany didn't make you straight, nothing will.” Santana rolled her eyes. “Anyway, Dave has delivered his all important news, so I think it's time for us to go.”

“You could have just called, you know,” Kurt pointed out.

“And deprive us of seeing your beautiful face?” She teased. He gave her a smile.

“Would you have answered the phone?” Dave spoke up.

“Yeah,” Kurt revealed after a long moment. “Yeah, I would have.”

“We're going to have a disastrously public break up tomorrow morning, by the way.” Santana announces, gesturing between Dave and herself as they get up to leave. “Just so you know.”

“Have fun with that.” Kurt said. “A heads up would be nice. I'd like a chance to take cover.”

“Noted.” Santana agreed. “I'm sure it won't be just us. Wait until Finn and Man Hands -”

“Rachel,” Kurt corrected her. Santana rolled her eyes again.

Rachel,” She continued. “Are in the same room together. Little Miss Sunshine is going to flip her shit.”

“Oh, school's going to be so much fun tomorrow.”

With that, Santana and Dave showed themselves out.

“How is it that we keep spending time with them?” Kurt groaned, burying his face in Blaine's chest.

“I have no idea,” Blaine answered. “But it seems like Dave is making actual progress.” Blaine was proud that he didn't stutter out the sentence.

“He is,” Kurt murmured. “I think it was an act at first, but as long as he left me alone, I didn't care because it mean going back to McKinley. Now...all I can see is how much pain he's in, Blaine...and I've been there...but he won't let me help him.”

“It's something he has to do in his own time, Kurt.”

“I know that.”

“Do you?” Blaine asked. “Because if they only reason you want him to come out is so you won’t be alone at McKinley – that’s…not a good reason.”

“Blaine, please. You don’t know what it’s like there.”

“I’ve got a good idea…and if it was so horrible, why did you want to go back?”

“You know why,” Kurt whispered, his eyes welling up. Blaine felt bad. He hadn’t meant to make Kurt cry.

“Please don’t cry.” Blaine reached out his hand and touched Kurt’s cheek. Kurt nuzzled his face into Blaine’s hand. “Listen; since we’re talking about this…I kind of had an idea after…last night.”

“What kind of idea?”

“What if…what if I transferred to McKinley in the fall?” The idea had struck him while trying to fall asleep the night before. Kurt was right. Blaine had needed last night to make up for past experience – and it made Blaine wonder, if he transferred, if he stood up to those who would try to take him and Kurt down on a daily basis, if he would hate himself less for running.

“Blaine, I don’t know.” Kurt bit his lip. “I mean, it would be amazing to have you there, but…” Blaine moved his hand from Kurt’s cheek, putting a finger to his lips to stop his words.

“It’s just an idea right now.” Blaine murmured. “We have all summer to figure it out in between celebrating New Directions win at Nationals.”

“That we do.” Kurt smiled against Blaine’s fingertip, before pressing a kiss to it. Blaine inhaled, and then leaned forward, kissing Kurt gently.

“Hey boys!” Kurt’s father called from the kitchen. They broke apart, both blushing. “Which one of you wants to come in here and tell me why that Karofsky kid was in my living room?” They shared a panicked look, and Blaine gave Kurt an encouraging smile as Kurt went into the kitchen.

He hoped Burt would take it well, and then tried to think up a way to convince his dad that transferring to McKinley in the fall was a good thing.
