Two Hours

Klaine AU set back to Season 3's Dance With Somebody in place of Season 4's Shooting Star. It only took two hours of terror to bring the two love birds back together after a nasty bump in the road in their relationship. PG-13 just as a precaution.

Author's Notes: Thought about this after watching Shining Star. I was so mad that Blaine didn't call Kurt or anything. So mad. So I wrote this. Please review!
A shot. A loud, sudden shot that echoed through the halls of McKinley. Almost everyone of the Glee Club members were in the choir room. Almost everyone.

Kurt wasn't there.

Tina was somewhere outside -- safe, they hoped.

But Kurt wasn't there.

Everyone sat huddled together along the walls of the choir room, crying and sending their goodbyes to their parents or whoever they were texting.

Quinn and Artie were huddled together in one corner, Sam and Mercedes in another, Brittney and Santana beside Rachel and Finn. All heartbeats were pounding together in a unnatural beat. Their breaths were heavy as they all tried to calm themselves down from letting out any sobs.

"Rachel?" Finn asked, tears in his eyes, but he wasn't crying anymore. He was too scared to cry.

Rachel sniffed, looking up at her boyfriend as their sweaty, shaky hands held onto one another. "What."

"Remember that one night you came over and I cooked you dinner?"

Rachel nodded her head.

"That was actual meat that I cooked you."

Rachel covered her mouth with her free hand as she leaned into her boyfriend's embrace.

"I love you," Brittney whispered to Santana.

"I love you too."

Mr. Schuester sat against the wall by himself, his face unreadable and tearless.

Suddenly Blaine crawled away from his corner, getting to his feet shakily. Mr. Schuester's eyebrows furrowed.

"What are you doing?" he hissed under his breath. "Get back, Blaine!"

Blaine shook his head. "Kurt's out there. I gotta - I gotta get to him," he said as he shook his head.

Mr. Schue had to grab onto Blaine, pulling him down to the floor and keeping him there, away from any sight of the doors.

Blaine repeatedly shook his head, his brown eyes wide with fear and worry.

He had accused Kurt of cheating. And god dammit, maybe he did cheat, but the point is that he had gotten scared to the point he feared that he had lost Kurt completely to that Chandler guy. And Kurt looked so angry and so scared at the same time. Blaine knew that Kurt was afraid that he had lost Blaine too.

He wished he could have said he was sorry, wish he could have hugged Kurt and told him he loved him before any of this happened. But it didn't and that was what made Blaine cry all the more.

He pulled his knees to his chest, hugging them as he buried his face into his knees for a moment. Then he grabbed his phone.

To: Kurt
Sent: 3:45 PM
Plz tell me ur ok...

Blaine waited.

Minutes passed by.

No reply.

No stupid reply.

He felt so helpless, hopeless, regretful, and scared. Mr Schue patted his back but it made no difference.

Kurt was in the bathroom when it happened. He was just splashing cold water on his face to drown out the fact that he had been crying again. He had been hiding in there a lot lately, thinking over and over again about how he had screwed everything up.

He never had a boyfriend before Blaine, so he didn't honestly know how far innocent conversations could go to become 'cheating'. He loved Blaine. Blaine had saved him so many times...he had lost track. He was heartbroken at the idea he had lost Blaine entirely.

What killed him most was that he had no idea what Blaine was thinking, about all of this.

But that gunshot had made him freeze, his eyes widened as he stared at himself in the reflection. Did he really just hear that?

The screams that echoed through the hallway answered that. He turned around. Where do I hide?

Kurt darted into a stall, closing and locking it and getting up and onto the toilet, careful not to slip. This is disgusting, a part of him thought. But he heard the running footsteps outside of the bathroom and his heart pounded in his ears.

This was really happening.

Oh god, Blaine!

Kurt had to cover his mouth to muffle his sudden sob. He crunched his eyes closed as he rested a hand against the stall wall to keep him steady.

No, this was not happening.

No.

Kurt needed Blaine.

He was so scared.

So freaking scared.

And there was no Blaine there to hold him.

No one there, to be exact.

It was like he was right back to square one again. He needed someone and there was absolutely no one there.

Not that it was anyone's fault but Kurt's at the moment.

He still felt so incredibly stupid for doing that to Blaine.

He forced himself to breathe heavily and slowly, trying to calm himself down but it was no use.

A killer was out there.

Who knows who'd get shot.

What if Blaine got shot?

Kurt shook his head. He had no idea where Blaine was. Was he in the choir room with the other Glee Club members? Was he elsewhere? Was he safe? Did he get shot?

Kurt suddenly heard the familiar buzzing of his phone. Through the crack in the door, he eyed his phone that sat on the ledge by the sink he was previously at. It was lit up. Someone sent him a text.

He wanted to leave and grab it.

Maybe it was Finn.

Maybe it was Blaine.

Maybe it was his dad.

He was too scared to move, too scared at the risk of leaving the stall. He imagined leaving the stall and the killer bursting through the door, shooting him.

Oh god.

He held his breath.

If there's a god up there, somewhere, please let Blaine be alright. Please. Please let me live through this to get to him.

Minutes ticked by.

It felt like forever as Kurt stood there on the toilet seat, listening for anything, but all he heard was silence.

Stupid. Silence.

The only thing he heard besides the silence was his shaking breath.

It was nearly two hours that Kurt had been standing there when Kurt heard the door to the bathroom open.

Kurt's face crunched up as he cried, terrified.

Oh god, it's the killer. He's going to shoot me.

He uncovered his mouth to wipe his nose on the back of his hand, tempted to sniff from how his nose was running.

The killer's footsteps were slow. Almost cautious.

"Kurt?"

Kurt suddenly felt a wave of relief wash over him.

It was Mr. Schue's voice.

"Mr. Schue?" Kurt asked shakily as he got down from the toilet seat and unlocked the door, running into Mr. Schue's arms. Thank you.

Mr. Schue held him for a moment. Kurt felt how shaky he was.

Silently, carefully, the two left the bathroom, scouting out the halls for any signs of the gunman.

The SWAT team had made it, motioning for Schue and Kurt to hurry up. Schue knocked on the door to the choir room a certain way and they entered.

The door was shut behind them, Puck being quick as to lock it.

Kurt's eyes searched the silent room for Blaine.

He was just turning his eyes from Brittney and Santana when he felt arms wrap around him, pulling him away from where he stood. It was Blaine.

Blaine.

Kurt cried hard into Blaine's shoulder as he wrapped his arms back around him just as Blaine pulled him down to sit against the wall. Kurt curled against Blaine, melting into his embrace.

"Shh it's okay you're here I'm here we're okay we have each other I'm so sorry," Kurt heard Blaine whisper shakily into Kurt's ear.

"I'm so sorry," Kurt whispered as he found himself unable to stop crying. Blaine was alright. He was in his arms. Everything was okay.

"All clear!" they heard from outside.

"Clear!"

"It's safe!"

It was the SWAT team.

The lights were turned on as everyone got up, quiet as they looked around at each other. Their tears had stopped by now, but they were still in shock of what had happened.

Kurt and Blaine were the only ones who remained seated on the floor.

"I love you," Kurt said shakily, his sobs gone finally.

"I love you too," Blaine replied just as shakily. "Don't you forget that."

"I'm so sorry, Blaine. I'm so sorry for what I did."

Blaine finally got up, bringing Kurt up with him as he let go and cupped Kurt's face, forcing him to look at him. "Shh...it's okay. We're here now. Everything's okay, Kurt. I love you so much..." He gather Kurt into his arms again and softly twisted his body back and forth in a soothing motion for Kurt as he held him.
