Thanks for reading! :)
“Kurt, I dont know, everyone is staring.” Blaine near-whispered. He gained some distance from Kurt before he dragged him back to his side and linked their arms.
“Come on, no one is looking. If anything would happen you know Santana and Karofsky would be there,” Kurt said, soothingly next to Blaines ear. “Santana would jump at the opportunity to look brave and heroic before the ballots for queen are closed.”
Blaine fidgeted nervously, scanning his surroundings. Kurt could tell he was not being himself. He was scared, Kurt tried to help, to comfort, but it was no use.
“Can we just, you know, stand in the back and talk?” Blaine proposed, facing Kurt with his whole body. “Maybe criticize the crappy decorations, and watch the New Directions sing?” Kurt gave him a little smile and agreed.
It was a little disappointing not to dance with his boyfriend at his junior prom, but the reason Blaine came was to conquer his fear. Kurt wanted to make Blaine feel safe and hold his hand for it, or not, if that was what made Blaine comfortable.
**
Until Blaine had to sing, they were having a pretty swell time. They joked and laughed and just had fun. Blaine seemed to be more comfortable by the end and he started to sway their locked hands to the music. He would look back at Kurt, and shimmy with his adorable scrunchy smile Kurt loved.
Then he was on stage, Kurt was left by himself. He felt a little self conscious, but was completely enthralled by Blaines performance. He kept flashing Kurt looks and pointing at him to keep him entertained. Kurt blushed and sent him looks back.
Blaine ended on the ground panting on stage, and Kurt clapped wildly. He grinned so hard he felt his smile would pop off his face. Blaine looked over at him from the stage and winked.

After the performance, Kurt learned that Finn had gotten himself kicked out and made a mental note to talk to him later. It was nice not having to see Jessie St. James though. Kurt never did like the guy, and seeing him all over one of this friends made him want to puke.
But There was Blaine at his side, smiling like a puppy, so they resumed their talk and jokes and drifted closer than before.
The music stopped shortly after, and Figgins voice came through the mic with a squeal. Kurt watched as Karofsky was crowned King. He was happy for the guy, even though he had not voted. He thought prom king and queen was a useless title that pinned people against each other. He clapped anyway, and so did Blaine.
“And the prom queen is. . .”
There was an awkward pause. The silence in the room was overbearing as the girls on stage looked like they were going to explode, well, Quin and Santana.
“Kurt Hummel.” All eyes turned to him. There were a few wops and yells from somewhere in the room. He stayed still, not breathing. He could feel everyone staring at him, boring holes into him.
He ran.
Blaine followed, but Kurt couldnt bare to look at anything but the ground.
**
It took a while for Blaine to coax him into coming back. But he did, he had to be strong. He had to make a point. Kurt claimed his crown, and Blaine was more proud of Kurt than ever. He was truly the strongest man he had ever met, stronger than any of the jocks that want to bring him down.
Then Kurt was alone, Karofsky couldnt dance with a boy in front of the whole school. It was understandable, its hard coming out, but that left Kurt alone.
Blaine watched as Kurt looked around hopelessly. The song played an upbeat sound, but every one was still, waiting for him to panic.
So he was brave. Blaine stepped out into the circle, ignoring everyones sneers and looks, and held out his hand.
“May I have this dance?” He asked, controlling the waver in his voice. He had his head hung, than looked up. Their eyes connected, and he could see Kurts sigh of relief. He could see the faint traces of the tear tracks he had missed.
“Yes,” Kurt said breathlessly. He searched Blaines face, he was nervous, but brave. “Yes you may.”
He put his hand in Blaines and Blaine reeled him in close. His touch was light and intimate as they swayed. Kurt looked around to see his friends giving him thumbs up with smiling faces, even Quin showed him a smile.
Kurt could feel Blaines hands shaking slightly, but his face was strong. They danced beautifully, alone in the cleared spot on the dance floor. Closer than they ever have been with such a big group of people. Blaine pulled Kurt closer, and whispered.
“You are so amazing. How are you so brave?”
“I learned from the best.”
