Great News, Kid!
Burt was so excited for Kurt. He was so proud of his kid. And he really wanted to be the one to tell the other man that loved Kurt just how fantastic they're boy really is. And really, after all that commotion, how could Kurt not let the best dad in the world gush all his pride to the best boyfriend in the world?

But not anymore. He was done.
Sebastian may not have meant to hurt him, but he had tried to hurt Kurt, which was even worse. And whatever was in that slushy was not something normally meant to be in it. It was meant to do damage, and that set Blaine’s blood boiling.
He’d slept terribly most of the night, and after being allowed out of bed and away from his mother’s fussing long enough to shower and do something about his crazy curls, Blaine had dozed for most of the day, having finally had time to calm down.
Blaine was shaken out of his musings by the sound of his phone buzzing again. He remembered now that it’s what had woken him in the first place. Stretching, Blaine slid out of bed, angling his head somewhat to see what he was doing around the eye patch that he was still trying to adjust to. He unplugged his fully charged phone from the charger before looking at the screen.
Burt Hummel.
That was exceptionally strange. Burt never called him, they only had each other’s numbers in case of emergency. The only time Burt had ever called him was when Kurt’s phone died without him noticing once when they had gone to see a movie together. Naturally, because of this, every possible bad scenario flashed through his mind as he answered.
“H-hello?”
“Blaine!” Burt’s voice came form the other end. He sounded anxious and somewhat breathless. Oh no. What if Sebastian had finally gotten to Kurt? What if the Warbler had cornered his boyfriend when Blaine wasn’t there to defend him, or any of the other New Directions?
“Yes? What’s wrong? Is it Kurt? Is he okay?” Blaine knew he sounded panicked, but he didn’t care. He just wanted answers.
“Nothing’s wrong, son! Kurt’s okay! He’s more than okay, actually. But I did call to talk about him.”
“Oh okay. Of course. What is it, Mr. Hummel, sir?”
“Kid, seriously, call me Burt. You’re practically a son to me, at least give me that much.”
Blaine relaxed at that. Kurt was okay, and Burt’s words were helping him to forget all about his troubles and giving him his favorite distraction to focus on instead.
“Alright. Burt. What did you want to talk about?”
“Well, kid, are you sitting down? You may wanna sit down for this. This is pretty big.”
Blaine laughed a little at Burt’s excited tone. He sounded like an eight year old on Christmas morning. Of course, Blaine noticed he always lit up whenever he got the chance to talk to or about his son. Blaine didn’t blame him, Kurt was amazing and so, so loved.
“Yes, s-Burt. I am. My mother has not let me leave my bed all day. I am currently secure on the mattress.”
“Great. Well, you know how Kurt applied to that one school for performing and stuff?”
“NYADA? Yes, I do. It’s all he could talk about for weeks.” Blaine remembered Kurt’s bright eyes when he talked about it the day he and Rachel had talked to Ms. Pillsbury about it, then remembered the doubtful look on his face when he closed his application up in the envelope to send it off. “Why?”
“Well, I decided to grab the mail when I went by home on my lunch hour today. And boy am I glad I did. Kurt finally got a letter.”
Blaine felt his breath hitch. This was it. This was the moment. “And? What did it say?!”
Burt laughed. “Relax, kid! You sound like you’re gonna have a heart attack! And trust me, you do not want one, they are no fun, and then you’ll have Kurt bustling around you and waiting on you hand and foot and trying to force organic health crap down your throat.”
Blaine wanted to laugh, because Kurt already pushed organic options on him as much as possible. But he couldn't, all he cared about was what the words on that letter spelled out.
“And trust me, no matter how much you love the kid, you won’t wanna-”
“Burt!” Burt stopped abruptly as Blaine cut into his rambling. “I’m sorry, sir, not to be rude, but I really want to hear more about that letter.”
“Blaine…he did it! He’s in the finals!”
Blaine stopped breathing, and froze. His eyes widened, forgetting the pain in the right one as he sat there, staring at his knees covered by the red and black blanket, hand clutching his phone so tight his knuckles were probably white.
“Wh-what?”
“He did it, Blaine! He got a letter today saying they liked his application and he’s in the final round of applicants! They want him to audition. He’s practically in!”
Blaine couldn’t say anything. Actually, there were so many things racing through his head that he wanted to say, he just couldn’t seem to sort them out. That Red Dye #6 must have gone to his brain. He wasn’t sure how long he sat there before Burt called his attention back to the present.
“Blaine? Come on, kid, say something.”
“Oh my god.”
“What?”
“Oh my god. He did it! He did it, Burt! He’s gonna get in, I just know! He’s going to New York and his dreams are gonna come true! He is going to do it!”
“Woah slow down there kid, we don’t know that he’s in for sure yet.”
“I don’t care. I’m so proud of him! I’m so proud and so happy!”
“Me, too, kid. Me, too. So proud of him. I can’t believe who he’s grown up to be. I look at him every day and I still see the little boy wrapped up sleeping in his mother’s arms as she held him in the hospital." Blaine imagined a sleeping baby Kurt, wrapped up in the arms of what had to be an absolutely lovely young woman, and smiled even wider than he had yet. "But then I also see so much of her in him, and I know every day that he could never disappoint me. I love him so much.”
“I know, sir. I know exactly how you feel, he makes me proud every day. I’m so proud to know him, much less be with him and be loved by him. And I wish sometimes that I could have known his mother. To have loved two men like you and Kurt so much, she must have been one extraordinary woman.”
“Yeah. She was kid.” They were both silent for a moment, reflecting on how proud they were of their number one man. “I’m so proud of everything he is and everything he’s become. And I’m pretty proud of you, too, Blaine. You’re good to him, good for him. I don’t know what he would have done without you. You kids are good together, and you both have so much going for you. I can’t wait to see what you become.”
Blaine felt tears stinging at his eyes at those words, but forced them back , not wanting to aggravate his hurt eye even more. Instead he choked down a couple breaths and said, “Thank you, Burt. So much. You have no idea how much I appreciate that.”
They were silent for another moment, but it wasn’t awkward. They were both just soaking in the moment, happiness flooding through both of them. Blaine finally spoke up.
“Well, I should probably call him. He’ll be wanting to tell me all about it I’m sure and I’m dying to hear what he has to say. Is he home, is he free to talk?”
“Actually I just left him at school a little while ago. He said he was headed straight to your place.”
As if on cue, there was a knock at his bedroom door and Kurt’s head poked around the wooden frame. Blaine’s eyes lit up and he beckoned his boyfriend forward.
“Actually he just walked in.”
“Oh great! Well, I’ll leave you to it. But make sure Kurt knows I want him home for dinner tonight, I want him to be here to tell Carole.”
“I will, sir,” he answered as his eyes followed Kurt across the room and to the chair beside his bed.
“It’s Burt, come on Blaine.”
Blaine chuckled. He’d gotten comfortable with calling Kurt’s dad by his first name, but it was just instinct to Blaine to address a man as “sir” especially one he respected as much as he did Burt.
“Yes, Burt. I will. Thank you so much for calling. Have a good night!”
When Blaine hung up the phone, he immediately turned to Kurt, both of them smiling at each other like total goofballs. After a moment, Kurt broke the silence.
“So. I guess he told you, huh?”
“Kurt, I’m so proud of you!” Blaine pulled his boyfriend up to him and squeezed around his middle, locking him in a tight hug. “I love you so much, all of your dreams are finally gonna come true! I told you everything would go your way, because you deserve everything, Kurt. Everything.”
Kurt seemed at a loss for words, so he just turned his head carefully, avoiding Blaine’s eye patch, and kissed him several times along his temple, jaw and neck before hooking his chin back over Blaine’s shoulder. “Thank you. I love you so much, Blaine.”
“I love you, too, Kurt. I’m so proud of you.” They just stayed there for a minute, until Kurt tried to pull away. But Blaine held him close with a firm grasp, and Kurt chuckled.
“Alright, let go Blaine. I want to read you this article I found today…”
And as Kurt sat back in the chair, pulling a magazine from his bag and reading, Blaine payed no attention to his boyfriend’s words. He just stared at Kurt, so happy and animated, and let the feeling of pride and contentment wash over him.

I loved this! I also believe that Burt and Blaine would have a very good realationship. Blaine is practically a part of the family. I can see him spending time with Burt and Finn, bonding with them. And Kurt loving it. It's just all great. You're a fanastic writer! Can't wait to read more!
I really agree! Especially after that episode, I totally see Blaine being so incorporated in Kurt's family, and Kurt being so happy about it. And you are too sweet! I am so glad to hear you liked my writing!
You are too kind! Seriously thank you. I have always been in love with the idea of Blaine being an old fashioned romantic, and that would certainly apply to interacting with his boyfriend's father! Of course he would call him sir and show the utmost respect! In all honesty, though, that little scene in "Michael" should prove that Burt really does like Blaine a lot and that he's really become a part of the family.
So cute and perfect! I couldn't ask for a better Burt/Blaine scene.
Why thank you!
this is fantastic!
OMG I LOVE YOU. Thanks for reading/reviewing!
OMG I LOVED IT
I like the idea of Burt and Blaine getting along really well, too. They share the fact that they love an amazing guy like Kurt. Yay for a happy Burt/Blaine/Kurt moments!!
