“Alright kids! Take a seat on the couch. Story time.”
“Dad! No! Please don’t. Grace and Scott hate Uncle Dave’s stories. Can’t you just punish us like normal parents and make us do dishes or clean out the garage?”
Kurt couldn’t stop his lips from curving up into a smirk. It’s not his fault he enjoyed torturing his children with tales of how he and Blaine had come to be. He figured that if he paid for their therapy in the years to come that they couldn’t complain too much.
“Tough luck kiddo. Now take a seat.”
Good God, could he sound anymore like his own dad?
“You know how your Papa has this habit of breaking out into song no matter where he is?”

Kurt had needed to get out of the apartment that he shared with Blaine. It was too nice of a day outside to spend it cooped up inside. He stopped by his favorite bodega, picked up a cup of coffee and apple, and headed to the park.
The fresh air felt nice and let him think a little clearer.
Kurt and Blaine had been fighting a lot more than usual over the last few weeks. He knew it didn’t have anything to do with their relationship, but that didn’t change how he felt.
Sitting down on a bench in one of his favorite parts of the park, Kurt let his mind wander. He tried to brainstorm for his next editorial, but he couldn’t stop thinking about whatever stupid fight Blaine and him had gotten into that morning.
He began people-watching to force himself to stop dwelling on it. As he looked around, something felt off. He couldn’t put his finger on it. Everything looked normal. Too normal? Then it happened. He saw a familiar face. It took him a second to place it, but the teenager who was pretending to play chess a few yards away was definitely in Blaine’s class.
No, thought Kurt. What is he doing?
Before he could react, Kurt heard the gentle strumming of a guitar coming up behind him. He looked and saw a group of Blaine’s students headed his way. A few were playing the beginning of a song that Kurt didn’t recognize while the others hummed along. Everyone who didn’t have an instrument in their hand had a single rose.
Suddenly the path in front of Kurt’s bench was filled with teenagers. They were all smiling and swaying along with each other, clearly enjoying the embarrassment that they were causing their teacher’s husband.
Kurt didn’t know whether to run and hide or laugh. His husband was such a dork. Before Kurt could decide, he heard Blaine’s voice, clear and perfect, from behind the students.
You would think by now I might have learned
That I'm still healing from when I got burned
Not trying to be rude or too upfront
But when I think of him here's what I want
Blaine was making his way through the crowd of children, getting closer and closer to Kurt.
He never colored in the lines
And he thought high school was a giant waste of time
He’s never scared to share what's on his mind
He's impossible to find, he's impossible to find
Blaine was collecting the roses from each of his students as he belted out the chorus. Kurt listened carefully to the words, falling even more in love with his husband if that was possible.
I'm not terrified yet I'm concerned
I won't find a prize that I must earn
So I'm skipping all the tricks and all the stunts
But when I think of him here's what I want:
Kurt strained to keep Blaine in his eyesight as he floated around gathering the flowers. Blaine kept throwing him little smiles as he kept singing.
He never colored in the lines
And he thought high school was a giant waste of time
He’s never scared to share what's on his mind
He's impossible to find, he's impossible to find
Blaine was so close that Kurt could almost touch him. He wanted desperately to pull Blaine into a kiss, but he knew that Blaine had worked hard on his song. Plus they were currently surrounded by Blaine’s glee club.
Cause I got:
Late night handshakes, cocktail napkins
Cigarette breaks nothing's happening
Two left feet and useless chatter
'Til I meet the guy who matters
Blaine was right in front of him now, looking him straight in the eyes. He handed over the bouquet of roses. Kurt brought the flowers to the his nose, inhaling the smell, as Blaine and his students finished out another one of Blaine’s crazy declarations of love in public places.
He never colored in the lines
And he thought high school was a giant waste of time
And everybody says I aim too high
He's impossible to find, he's impossible to find
He's impossible to find, he's impossible to find
Blaine has such a goofy grin on his face, looking like a puppy that hoped it had done something right. Kurt couldn’t stop himself from pulling Blaine into an embrace, ignoring the teenagers and his dislike of PDA.
When they finally pulled back, Blaine began to explain himself.
“Look Kurt, I know that we have been a little off lately and it’s no one’s fault. We have both been busy with work and the stress of the adoption and all that is a lot. I just wanted to let you know that there is no one else I would want to be standing in front of me today and I am so glad that I found you.”

“After that little stunt, I couldn’t even be mad at your Papa for embarrassing me in the middle of Central Park.”
“Ugh! You two are so grossly in love.”
“Seriously!”
Kurt quirked his eyebrow, giving his children a look that let them know that they were in trouble.
“Careful there, precious children of mine. I am sure that with a few subtle hints from yours truly, I could get you your very own, very public declaration from Papa.”
Before Kurt had even finished his sentence, both kids were protesting loudly and quickly changing their tune.
“Hey guys! What’s going on in here?” Blaine had just gotten home and here the commotion. He passed the couch, ruffling both of his children’s hair before settling on the arm of the chair that Kurt was currently sitting in.
“I was just telling them about the time you had your student’s serenade me in the park.”
Blaine smiled and said, “Let me go grab my guitar and I can play the song for you guys!”
Both children jumped up, suddenly eager to start on their homework.
Kurt and Blaine chuckled as their kids disappeared.
“I thought they would never leave,” Blaine murmured into Kurt’s ear as he slid down onto his husband’s lap, enjoying the alone time before it was time to start dinner and check homework.
“ Thank goodness you weren’t impossible to find.”
