Blaine was ecstatic! Kurt's back, they've been talking regularly, and they're both going to Artie's party. He couldn't remember the last time he had been so happy. Well, he could, but he wasn't going to go there and spoil his good mood. The best part about tonight is that Kurt said he, Blaine Anderson, could pick him up and take him to and from the party. He wasn't so delusional as to think this was a date, but he'll take what he can get. Anything that meant spending more time with Kurt was fine by him. He just had to run a few errands for his mother and then he could get ready for his non-date with Kurt... And the rest of the New Directions (current and veterans).
Kurt was freaking out, to say the least. He was thrilled to be home, of course, but he was still uncertain about his feelings for a certain hazel-eyed guy. He couldn't fathom as to why he let Blaine talk him into letting him be his ride, tonight... Okay, if he was being honest with himself, he knew why. He missed Blaine. A lot. However, he wasn't going to let him him know the extent to which he did, so he acted reluctant when agreeing to it. He looked in the mirror and sighed in contentment because he would be seeing Blaine in a couple of hours. Which was when he realised he had yet to find an outfit for the night. Great!
Two hours later Blaine was outside the Hudmel's. He knew he had nothing to worry about, but he couldn't help being nervous. It's been over two years and he was still afraid of Burt. But who wouldn't be? Sure he´s been around the man more times than he can count, but that's beside the point. Feeling ridiculous and a tad neurotic, Blaine got out of his car and went to knock on the door.
Knock, knock, knock...
"Hey, kiddo!"
"Hello, Mr. Hummel."
"You should know by now to call me Burt. None of this 'Mr. Hummel' crap. Come on in!"
"Okay, Burt."
"He's in his room if you want to head up there."
"Thanks."
Once upstairs, he saw Kurt's door was slightly open and heard music playing. He poked his head in the room and froze. The room looked like a tornado had blown through it, but that's not what actually caught his attention. Kurt was, clad only in boxer briefs, doing his hair. He must have noticed him because he screeched and ran to his en suite bathroom. Laughing to himself, after moving some clothes over, he sat on Kurt's bed. A few minutes later Kurt came out, fully dressed.
"Blaine, haven´t you ever heard of knocking?!"
"I'm sorry, Kurt. It's not like I haven't seen it before. Besides, you had underwear on," Blaine replied, sheepishly.
"Yeah, but we aren't together anymore, Blaine!" Kurt exclaimed.
"I know. Sorry," Blaine said, looking like a kicked puppy. "I'll just go wait with your dad."
"Look, I didn't mean to snap at you. You just caught me off guard."
Blaine still had a dejected look on his face so Kurt have him a hug.
"I'm sorry, Blaine. I didn't mean to bring up us not being together," Kurt said, softly.
"I know. Don't worry about it."
Kurt pulled back so he could look at Blaine, "Are we okay?"
"Of course! Let's go, I'm excited to see everyone."
By the time they had arrived at Artie's, the party was well on it's way. Every member of the New Directions was there. Kurt noticed others who weren't a part of the group, but he figured it was to be expected. What with people bringing other friends. A little while later, he was waiting for Mercedes to return from the bathroom when a really cute, blue-eyed, blonde guy (who was at least as tall as Finn) came up to him.
"Hey, I'm Justin, Artie's cousin."
"Oh, hi! I'm Kurt."
"I know," Justin said, blushing.
Kurt's confused expression prompted him to continue.
"I asked Artie about you when you first got here. It just took me a while to pluck up the courage to come and talk to you," he continued, bashfully.
"Oh!" Kurt responded, not reallu knowing what else to say.
Thankfully, Mercedes happened to come back then with Blaine in tow. Rescuing him from the slightly awkward situtation.
"HI, Justin!" she exclaimed. Blaine, however, didn´t seem as thrilled to see him.
"Hi, Mercedes," Justin replied, turning back to Kurt. "Well, it was nice meeting you!"
"Yeah, you too," Kurt said, smiling.
Justin smiled back and walked away, a little flustered at not being able to talk to Kurt as much as he would have liked.
"What was all that about?" Blaine asked, putting an arm around Kurt's waist, possessively.
"That was Artie's cousin coming over to introduce himself to me. He seemed pretty nice."
"He is," Mercedes interjected. "I was talking to him earlier and he told me he's studying medicine at NYU. He wants to be a pediatrician."
"Pfft," Blaine scoffed.
Noticing Blaine's change in mood, Mercedes excused herself on the pretense of getting a drink.
"Having fun, Blaine?" Kurt asked.
"Tons," he responded, dryly.
"What's the matter?"
Not wanting his insecurities to ruin hs time with Kurt, Blaine quickly responded, "Nothing."
"You sure?" Kurt questioned, dubiously.
"Of course!" Blaine reassured him.
"Okay, then."
A few drinks later (for Blaine anway) found Kurt and Blaine dancing among the crowd.
"I have to pee," Blaine told Kurt.
"Okay."
"I'll be right back."
Kurt nodded in response.
While waiting for Blaine, Justin appeared in front of him.
"Would you like to dance?" Justin asked.
Never one to turn down a dance with a cutie, Kurt accepted. Besides, he had to do something until Blaine got back. And if the line was as long as it was when he went, it'll take at least ten minutes.
Blaine was waiting in line, cursing everyone in front of him.
"God, when did all of these people get here?!"
Seven minutes later (yes, he was counting) he finally made it inside the bathroom. After his relievement he went to get himself another drink. Thankfully, Kurt said he'd drop him off at home and bring him his car tomorrow. While making said drink he scanned the room for Kurt. He saw him dancing with that stupid, tall, wannabe pediatrician. He absentmindedly crushed the plastic cup in his hand.
"Whoa, boy! Are you okay?" came Sam´s concerned voice.
Slightly startled, he replied, "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Because you look like you´re ready to kill someone. Not to mention you, you killed an innocent cup,"
"Yes, Sam," he responded, in a clipped tone.
"So this has nothing to do with the fact that Kurt´s dancing with another dude?"
"What are you talking about?!"
"Look, you're my best friend and I know you're jealous of that guy."
"I'm not jealous," Blaine spat.
"Alright, then. I'm going to go talk to Brittany."
And with that he was off.
Jealous? Ha! Blaine Anderson jealous of some stupid blonde guy, who isn't even cute. Gosh, he thinks he's so cool. Who cares if he wants to be a stupid doctor? Who wants to do that? He's not even remotely Kurt's type. All tall with his stupid light features and those dumb broad shoulders. Ugh! Jealous? Yeah, right.
"Hey, boy wonder."
"Oh, hey, Santana."
"I see you've noticed Kurt getting his mack on with Artie's hot cousin."
"He's not hot! Besides, what do I care? We're not dating. Kurt's allowed to do whatever he wants."
"Oh, please. You look like you just watched someone burn all of your hideous bowties."
"Whatever," Blaine mumbled.
"Instead of standing here, why don't you grow a pair and let Hottie McDreamy know that Lady Hummel's yours?"
"You know, for once, you're right. Thank you."
"Yeah, yeah,¨ Santana replied, before walking away.
Kurt was having a blast! He wasn't exactly sure where Blaine had gone off to, but Justin was a great dancer. He may have gotten a little too close sometimes, but he would just back up a little when it happened. No biggie.
Blaine decided to slam another so he'd have the nerve to go over there and get his Kurt away from that blonde-headed douche. His Kurt? Yeah, he liked the sound of that. Just like old times. The next thing he knew he was walking over to Kurt. Now feeling the effects of the alcohol, he had no problem grabbing Kurt by the hips and pulling him away from the stupid giant.
"Hey, we were dancing!" Justin yelled.
"Well, you aren't anymore," Blaine responded, venemously.
"Blaine, what are-" Kurt tried to interject, only to be silenced by Blaine,
"What's your problem, dude?" Justin continued.
"My problem, DUDE, is that Kurt's mine!" Blaine spat, possessively.
And with that, he turned around, grabbed Kurt by the back of the neck, and kissed him. By then the music had been stopped and everyone was watching them.
Once Blaine was done claiming Kurt, he turned around, glared at Justin, and then grabbed Kurt by the hand, saying, "We're leaving, Kurt."
Without so much as a goodbye to anyone, Blaine pulled him through the house relieved he wasn't resisting and walked out to his car.
"Blaine, what the hell was all that about?"
"Just get in the car, Kurt. Here are the keys."
"No, we are talking about this now."
"Look, I'm sorry I flipped out in there. I just couldn't stand the sight of you dancing with another guy. I know this wasn´t a date and we aren´t boyfriends and I´m sorry I got all possessive. I just got so jealous and then Santana told me to go and let that jerk know you´re mine, so I did.¨
"But, that's the thing, I'm not yours."
At Kurt's words Blaine's face fell and he tried to keep himself from crying, to no avail.
"Blaine, look at me."
"No."
Kurt stepped forward and lifted Blaine´s chin up so he was looking at him. The look on Blaine's face broke his heart and that's how he knew he was ready to give him a second chance. All he wasnted to do was make sure Blaine never looked like that again. So he leaned in and kissed him. When he pulled back, Blaine was frozen and had a look between joy and comfusion plastered on his face.
"But I thought you said-"
"I said I wasn't yours, which technically is true, but I didn't say I didn't want to be yours," Kurt said, smiling.
Blaine lunged at Kurt, attacking his face with kisses. He couldn't believe this was actually happening! Kurt wanted to get back together with him!
After realizing it wasn't yet official, he pulled back and looked at Kurt, "Would you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?"
"You are such a goof ball," Kurt said, giggling.
"Kuuuuurrrrt," Blaine whined.
"Yes, Blaine, I'll be your boyfriend."
They sealed it with a kiss.
