Blaine had long since fallen asleep after their lovemaking in Kurt's bed, but Kurt couldn't stop the tears from coming. He cried silently as he held Blaine, absently stroking his hair and stopping to leave the occasional kiss.
"You wanna talk about it?"
"Dad!" Kurt started, then glanced at Blaine in alarm, checking to see if he'd awakened him. Fortunately, he hadn't. He pulled the blanket further up to cover more of himself and Blaine. "What are you doing home? I thought you were speaking to the graduating class at Toledo University."
"I was. I did." Burt leaned against the doorframe. "So...you wanna talk about it?"
Kurt looked down and then up. "As you can see, I'm in a rather personal situation."
"Yeah, um...Carole and I kinda...saw that when we walked past to put our bags in our room."
Kurt's jaw dropped in horror. "What did you see?"
"Well, more like heard...." Burt took his trucker's cap off and scratched the back of his neck. "So, um, we didn't look. We just kinda--you know--walked past without looking."
"Oh, God." Kurt put his face in his hand.
"Hey. It's all right, little--" Kurt's eyes snapped to his-- "Yeah, I guess it's a little dumb for me to call you 'little buddy' anymore when you're doing--" he waved his hand in the air-- "what you're doing."
"Oh, God." And his face went right back in his hand again.
"Kurt, I get it. It's the end of the school year, and you're heading off to New York."
Kurt's gaze returned to Burt's, his eyelashes matted with tears.
"The two of you are really feeling--I don't know--scared? Desperate? Something. Anyway, you need to feel close. Like I said to you when I talked to you about this stuff, you used it to connect. Right?"
Kurt just nodded, the tears now flowing down his cheeks.
"I know I told you not to do this in my house, said it was inappropriate...but this? This time? It's not. Okay?" His eyebrows raised as he waited for Kurt to assure him that he understood he wasn't angry.
Again, Kurt nodded, but finally said a quiet but squeaky, "Okay."
"Okay." With that, Burt turned to leave.
Relieved that the conversation with his father was done, Kurt snuggled against Blaine's back once more, gently tightening his arm around his middle and placing a kiss on his soft dark curls.
Then his dad turned around.
"You, uh--" He waved a finger vaguely at them-- "You two always lie like that?"
Kurt glanced down and shrugged. "It's the most comfortable. I'm taller, so--" His eyes widened, suddenly snapping to Burt's face. "Dad!"
Burt lowered his eyes. "You're right. None of my business." He turned to go. He was just turning from the door to head down the hallway when Kurt propped himself up on an elbow, lifted his chin a fraction, and spoke up.
"We switch."
Burt froze. "What's that?" He turned to see inside the room again.
Kurt lifted his chin marginally higher, nodding slightly, looking down his nose at the floor. "We switch."
"You--" Burt was nodding, even though he didn't--but then he did. "Oh. Uhhhh-huh. Gotcha." He swallowed visibly. "Like I said, none of my business." With that, he turned and left.
As soon as his footsteps were clomping down the stairs, there was a rush of air and a snort below Kurt.
Kurt glared at the back of Blaine's head. "You've been awake this whole time?"
Blaine shook his head, still laughing. "Just long enough to hear your dad getting an education he didn't necessarily want."
Kurt bapped him on the shoulder. "I'm glad you find our awkward conversations so amusing."
Blaine leaned back and pulled Kurt down for a sweet kiss. "You're just so cute when you're embarrassed. And so sexy when you get on the defensive."
Kurt harrumphed.
Blaine rolled onto his back. "Oh, come here, you grump." He tugged Kurt onto his chest and started a wonderful session of languid kissing that lasted well into the night.

love this!! read and review Fix a Heart for me??
I'll look for it, but I can't promise anything. If it has anything in it that I either can't read (character death, character in suspended life, horror, violence, rape) or don't like to read (Karofsky involved with either of them anywhere from flirtation to established relationship), then I won't read it. Sorry.
this was really awesome!
Thank you! Glad you liked it. :)
