Author's Notes: This was written for the firstklainekit tumblr - pure fluff in a little package of 400ish words. Swearing and allusions to sex.
It’s the coldest winter Lima has had for fifteen years.

Kurt has always liked winter, much preferring the frosty snap of the air to the oppressive sweatiness of summer. In previous years, he’d take the cold as a fashion challenge, cocooning himself in soft fabrics – scarves, boots, sweaters, jackets, wraps – and enjoying the opportunities for layers, colours, textures.

This year he likes it even more than usual, and that’s because he has Blaine Anderson to keep him warm.
Blaine has always been the warmest thing in his life – he has big, glowing, hazelnutty eyes, and a fondness of wrapping Kurt up in his arms, and even without that he radiates this kind of heat, this energy, that’s comforting and beautiful and frequently exciting. When the cold comes, Kurt takes refuge in the warmth of Blaine Anderson, and it’s lovely.

Little moments tumble one after the other that winter, moments when Kurt understands what love is, and who this boy he loves is, and who Kurt Hummel is.

He digs his frozen hands into the coldness of Blaine’s curls, and brings their mouths together in a kiss that burns, burns, and spreads through his veins with a delightful humming warmth, and soon they’re not cold at all, but full of hotness and each other and gasping breath.

He lies under the covers with Blaine, tangled up in a sleepy, cuddly manner, listening to the measured, deep breaths of his sleeping Warbler. He studies Blaine’s eyelashes. Outside, the snow whirls itself against the window. Kurt smiles, and thinks, and then falls asleep too.

He gets brought coffee one morning when it’s so fucking cold and he’s tired and curling his toes in his boots that aren’t warm enough and he has so much studying to do and really, he’s just very cranky. “Here,” Blaine says, and smiles all crinkly, holding out the cup. “You looked like you needed it.” Kurt wraps his hands around the intense heat and inhales the beautiful, beautiful aroma of coffee beans, and grins back up at him.

Yes, Kurt loves this winter, and smiles regretfully as the snow starts melting and the temperature rises.

He thinks back to last winter, and a firelit room in Dalton Academy, back when things were new and unsure and he was still just learning who this creature called Blaine Anderson was.

And now he knows.

Now he knows it all.

And now Kurt Hummel has found his warmth, his source of energy, his sun. He’s not alone. He’s not cold.

He’s in love.

Let it snow, he says. Let it snow.
