This is essentially based in an AU that Im still creating in my head. I had the urge to write some fluffy Klaine bathtime fun!
Blaine's day could not get any worse. To start off, his favorite jacket got stuck in the subway door and ripped, leaving him no choice but to toss it. When he finally got to his job at the café, a rude customer gave him a hard time about not applying the right amount of pressure to the caramel dispenser in his latte. But what really did him in was the text from his boyfriend that said he had to work late and was going to have to cancel their dinner plans.
Ever since Blaine moved to New York to live with Kurt and his roommates, he hadn't seen much of the NYADA student/ Vouge.com super-intern! Tonight was supposed to be their first real date night in the city and, like usual, something got in the way.
When Blaine's shift ended, he could not be happier to just get back to the apartment and relax. The subway ride seemed much longer than the one earlier in the day, leaving him tense and annoyed as he walked the block and a half to his building. He trudged up the stairs and opened the door to his place, expecting to be greeted by Rachel or Santana yelling, or singing, or fighting like usual. But to his surprise, Blaine was welcomed in by a trail of red rose petals and white candles, starting from the front door and leading him down the hall to the bathroom. Unsure of whom the display was for, he set down his bag and followed the path to find his boyfriend sitting in the bathtub filled with bubbles and a mischievous grin on his face.
“Surprise,” Kurt said, gesturing to the beautiful arrangement of flowers and candles surrounding the tub.
Blaine's eyes began to water as he took in the scenery. He took a deep breath and sighed, trying his hardest not to turn into a sap in that moment. He crouched down next to Kurt, resting his elbows alongside the rim of the tub. “You have no clue how badly I needed this today.” He said, moving his hand to cup his boyfriend's face, stroking the fine lines of his cheekbones with his thumb.
Kurt closed his eyes and put his hand over Blaine's, “Are you going to sit there and tease me or will you join me?”
Blaine immediately stripped down to nothing and climbed in. He shifted so his back was resting against Kurt's front.
For a few minutes, neither of them said anything. Blaine watched as the steam from the hot water danced along Kurt's stunning skin. The way his legs looked submerged in water made his heart skip a beat. Kurt shifted after a while, sitting up straighter and pulling Blaine back towards him.
“I'm sorry I had to lie to you about our date, but I wanted to do something extra special for you tonight.” Kurt said, resting his head against the side of Blaine's.
“Babe, this is incredible. You really outdid yourself. “ Blaine replied, turning his body so he could look at the man who takes his breath away every day. Kurt always found a way to so many little things each day to make sure Blaine knew he was loved and appreciated, but this was something that really made an impact.
Kurt bit his lip like he always did when he was nervous and closed his eyes, grabbing Blaine's hands and bringing them to his lips. He kissed each knuckle tenderly and found a place for them to rest alongside his face.
“You, Blaine Anderson, are the love of my life. I wake up every single day with a full heart knowing I have you. Thank you for that.”
Blaine smiled and leaned forward to kiss Kurt's forehead. “No need to thank me, I'm the lucky one.” He replied, turning back around and leaning his head back to rest on Kurt's shoulder.
Ever so quietly, Kurt whispered in Blaine's ear,
“Will you marry me?”
Blaine's eyes fell shut as he answered without a moment's hesitation, “Yes.”
Maybe today wasn't so bad after all.
