one-shot. Kurt and Blaine during Without You.
“I won’t run,
I won’t fly
I will never make it by
Without you, without you”
Blaine smiles at the words. So accurate, so true. He leans closer to Kurt and places a soft kiss on his boyfriend’s cheek. Kurt’s surprised, looking around him anxiously, making sure no one has seen the PDA and might start talking. Or worse.
But they’re in the choir room around their friends who are too focused on the ballad Rachel is belting out in the front anyway. Kurt sighs and turns to Blaine, smiling at him affectionately.
Blaine looks at Rachel for a moment before turning his head and smiling softly at Kurt. The other boy’s heart jolts. He grabs Blaine’s hand and squeezes it before returning to watch Rachel’s performance. While they’re more comfortable around friends, it’s still not likely for them to show their love and affection in public.
“I can’t rest,
I can’t fight
All I need is you and I
Without you, without you”
Kurt feels Blaine drawing small circles on the back of his hand with his thumb. When he looks at Blaine, the younger boy smirks and licks his lips, eyes focused on Rachel. Kurt chuckles and brings his hand up to his lips, quickly kissing his knuckles.
“I won’t soar, I won’t climb
If you’re not here, I’m paralyzed
Without you”
Blaine squeezes his hand, smiling when Kurt shuffles a bit closer to him. Blaine looks at his boyfriend again and wonders how he got so lucky. After 10 months he still couldn’t believe this boy was his.
“I am lost, I am vain,
I will never be the same
Without you, without you
Without you”
Just as the song ends, Kurt lets go of Blaine’s hand to clap, and Blaine follows suit. He glances at Kurt one more time before focusing on Rachel who is embraced by Finn. Well, ‘embraced’ seems like a light phrase. They’re snucking faces with each other.
“What’s wrong?” Blaine whispers as Kurt’s face falls. Kurt grimaces and says just as quietly, “It bugs me that they can do it.” And we can’t, Blaine finishes in his head. At least not in public.
Blaine throws an arm around Kurt’s shoulders and rests his hand on his thigh. He hates seeing Kurt sad.
“Hey, I know we can’t… mack on each other in public. But frankly, I don’t even want that. People might get jealous.” A small laugh escapes Kurt’s lips, so beautiful that it sends shivers down Blaine’s spine. He scoots even closer to be able to whisper into his ear.
“I love it when you laugh… It’s one of my favorite things about you,” Blaine mumbles and pecks his boyfriend on the cheek before sitting straight in his chair and looking at Rachel and Finn in the front again. Kurt blushes and grabs Blaine’s hand again.
Without Blaine, Kurt thinks to himself, he wouldn’t be this happy.
