The summer sun was streaming in, highlighting the tears that poured from Kurt's puffy eyes. Blaine knocked lightly on the door and hesitantly stepped into tension-filled the room.

"Sweetheart, I'll be back," Blaine whispered.

Kurt bit his cheek and held in a sob, continuing to stare out of the large window. He scooted away from Blaine when he gently lowered himself onto the soft bed.

"Please, look at me, Kurt," he begged, grabbing for the man's defined chin.

"Don't touch me."

Blaine recoiled, stung by the sharp words.

"I don't understand why you're doing this," Kurt spat. "It's ridiculous."

"Well, I don't find it ridiculous."

Kurt turned to look at Blaine, anger flashing across his porcelain face.

"What are you trying to prove?"

"Nothing. It's just something I want to do, baby. Can't you respect that?" replied Blaine, his voice thick with disappointment.

"But you're leaving me…to train from something that could very well get you killed," Kurt argued in between jagged breaths.

"I know, but the training is only 9 weeks, and I'll be home."

"What happens if you're deployed?"

"We'll deal with that when, and if the time comes."

Blaine moved closer to Kurt and enveloped him in a warm hug, placing a kiss onto his slick hair.

"I love you," said Blaine, twisting the shiny ring on his husband's finger.

"I love you, more," Kurt replied as he fondled a stray piece of Blaine's curly locks.

Blaine darted for a feathery pillow and shouted "Impossible!" as he flung it at Kurt's head, causing him to fall back in a fit of laughter;

"9 weeks," he croaked out with a chuckle.

"9 weeks," Blaine echoed, lowering his lips to Kurt's.

"Don't forget me."

"Never."

And Blaine sealed that promise with a passionate kiss.
