The two boys were sitting on the Hummel-Hudson’s couch, Burt and Carol standing in front of them.
“Mom, Dad,” Kurt began. “We have something to tell you.” Kurt glanced nervously at Blaine. Blaine gave their intertwined hands a reassuring squeeze, a look of adoration in his eyes.
“We’re getting married!!” Kurt exclaimed lifting their hands to show them his ring. Both boys had a grin on their faces stretching all the way up to their eyes.
“Boys, that’s fantastic! Congratulations!!” Carol exclaimed. “Where did it happen? When? Please, tell me everything!”

Kurt walked into their small New York apartment coming home from work. He had just set his keys and bag down when he noticed them: rose petals. There were red rose petals scattered all over the floor. But they weren’t just scattered. They led somewhere. Kurt followed the path of petals picking up a few as he went to cup them in his hand. When he reached the end of the petals he looked up. Their bedroom.
There were candles around the room, each of them glowing in the comfortable darkness. On the bed lay a bouquet of roses. 6 roses to be exact, one for each year he and Blaine had been together.
“Blaine?” Kurt called, wondering where his boyfriend was.
At that time Blaine walked out, softly playing his guitar. He began to sing.
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you
Blaine looked straight into his boyfriend’s eyes, noticing the tears beaming.
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
A soft tear fell down Kurt’s cheek. Blaine set his guitar down but continued to sing. He walked over to Kurt, softly brushing the tear off of his cheek with the pad of his thumb.
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
For I can't help falling in love with you
Blaine finished, his arms now wrapped around his boyfriend’s slender waist, as a tear slid out of his eye.
Blaine backed away and dug into his pocket pulling out a soft, black velvet box.
Kurt gasped, speechless.
“Kurt, you are the love of my life. You came into my life in high school and I knew from the moment I set eyes on you on that staircase that you were someone special. How right I was. I’ve never told you this, Kurt, but that day, you saved my life. You changed me. You held me under your wing and never let me fall and for some miraculous reason, you let me love you. You are the most special man I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You are the good in my life. You are the light in my life. You are my life. And I want you to be, forever. I want to you to be my everything, Kurt. I don’t ever want to spend my time with someone else. I want to go to bed and wake up every morning looking into your eyes. I want to fight about what color to paint our child’s bedroom and I want you to be there when they take their first steps. I want you there, every step of the way, for the rest of my life. Kurt Elizabeth Hummel, will you do me the great pleasure of being my husband?” Blaine flipped open the box to reveal and simple silver band; “You take my breath away” engraved on the inside.
Tears were streaming freely down both men’s faces, now.
“Yes. Yes. Yes, Blaine, I will marry you!” Kurt managed to choke out. A grin spread out across his face.
Blaine slipped the silver band onto Kurt’s ring finger, kissing every knuckle on his hands. He stood up and wrapped his arms around Kurt’s waist pulling him in. Their lips met in a sweet, soft kiss. Time was frozen. They wanted to remember this moment forever. Both men pulled back, looking into each other’s eyes.
“I love you,” Blaine whispered.
“I love you too, Blaine, so much. And I will until I die.” That was a promise.
