“Let me go.” Kurt whispered.

“I can’t.”

“Blaine. You have to let me go.” Kurt pleaded.

“I can’t, Kurt. I can’t just let you go. You’re my life. I can’t just give you up without a fight. I won’t. I love you.” Blaine murmured brokenly.

“Don’t…don’t say that. You can’t-you can’t love me anymore.” Kurt walked slowly backwards away from Blaine, hoping he wouldn’t follow. Of course, he did. It wasn’t supposed to be this hard. He’d just come to say goodbye.

“But I do. I can’t just stop.” Blaine said, following Kurt from their bedroom into the hallway.

“Blaine. You have to. You have to move on.”

“No.” He said forcefully.

“I’m not coming back.” Blaine looked at him with tear filled eyes, the shock evident on his face.

“You always do. You have to. I need you.”

“Not anymore. It’s not good for you. I thought it would help you move on, but it’s not. You’re breaking, Blaine. I can’t keep breaking you.”

“Kiss me, Kurt. Kiss me, please.” Blaine reached for Kurt’s hand.

‘This isn’t a good idea, Kurt. You know this won’t work. He’s trying to make you stay.’ Kurt thought to himself.

“I can’t.” He said. But he already knew that he couldn’t resist. He took Blaine into his arms and pressed his lips to the older boys. This kiss wasn’t like all their other kisses. It wasn’t passionate or heated. It was more of a goodbye, because Kurt couldn’t say it out loud. So he kissed Blaine with all he had. Blaine’s hands traveled to his hips and pulled him closer. That shocked Kurt out of his trance and he broke away from Blaine’s embrace gasping.

“I have to go, Blaine. Please don’t make this harder than it has to be.” Kurt begged him.

“Please, Kurt. Please don’t leave me.” Blaine cried.

“I already have.” Kurt said, fighting ever urge to bend down and hold Blaine in his arms as he crumpled to the floor sobbing. He couldn’t hold him. Not anymore.

“You said you’d never leave me.” Blaine sobbed into the carpet.

“I’m sorry.” Kurt didn’t know what else to say.

Blaine looked up just in time to see the boy he loved disappear right before his eyes. He pulled himself off the floor and ran to their - no his - room and dropped to the bed in a heap. He pulled the pillow from Kurt’s side of the bed to his chest, buried his face in it, and inhaled the scent of his long lost lover.

It had been three weeks, although it felt like a lifetime. A lifetime without Kurt by his side. A lifetime since the car accident. The one that left Blaine with only a few cuts on his face and a sprained wrist, but the love of his life in a casket in the ground.

He was angry. Be was beyond angry. He was alive and Kurt was rotting in the ground. Blaine sobbed into the pillow wishing he could go back in time and stop them from getting in the car. To find some way to save Kurt.

But he couldn’t. He’d spent all his time laying in their bed, wearing Kurt’s clothes, surrounded by his scent, hoping that there was some way that Kurt could just stay one of these times. But he couldn’t, and now he was gone. And he wasn’t coming back.

This is what Blaine Anderson was reduced to. Spending his nights with the ghost - was Kurt a ghost? Or just some part of Blaine’s fucked up subconscious that delighted in tearing him apart? - of his dead boyfriend, sobbing into pillows, and just being broken.

Another sob tore through his chest and he cried a heart-shattering “I love you. I love you. Please come home.” into the nothingness around him. But he knew full well, that Kurt wouldn’t ever be home again.

He was gone and he wasn’t coming back no matter how much Blaine begged him to.

He curled into a ball in the middle of their bed and let the pain take over until he felt nothing but the memory of Kurt’s lips on his.
End Notes: First: Thank you for reading. Second: I'm sorry if you're a sobbing wreck. This was incredibly hard for me to write because it's based almost exactly situation from my life, and I still can't bring myself to read it. I hope you liked it! :)
