New York is the city that never sleeps. An internship at the Vogue website must be demanding. Conversations take up too much time, precious, valuable time.

It's just student body president. It isn't as though there's any real power in the position. Eliminating weekends? Really? The actual president doesn't have that authority. This isn't something to interrupt work over. It doesn't matter.

The ignore button is pretty useful. It's a clear message, probably clearer than a text. I need to stop calling him. He doesn't want to talk to me. He's busy. I'm calling him too much. He needs space.

He was so excited during our Skype chat. He was so excited he didn't have the focus to help me pick a bow tie, which he loves to do. He's on top of the world—on the bottom of the top, but still. He deserves this, especially after the NYADA tragedy. My success is nothing compared to his. He shouldn't have his high school boyfriend trying to hone in on his spotlight.

It's probably hard for him. He ran for this office last year and lost. Granted, he didn't run with a former stripper, and his opponent didn't shoot herself in the foot, and he got disqualified for reasons that were not his fault, but still. He lost, and his boyfriend didn't. His younger, newer, "alpha gay" boyfriend. It would make sense that he would harbor some resentment. I should give him time to cool off, to come to terms with this.

Distance is hard. We're both growing as people, but in different environments with different communities. Of course we're different now. That doesn't mean we don't love each other. That doesn't mean we aren't still unbearably perfect for each other. Our dynamic has shifted, and our communication with it. This is just another part of us to love.

Having a high school boyfriend is kind of embarrassing. He's trying to conquer the fashion world and make it into the spring semester of NYADA. Having a boy back in Lima? That'll drag him down. Who am I to impede his success? Distance is good for him.

It's good for me, too. I did come to McKinley for Kurt, but I didn't stay for him. Well, not just for him. I'm staying for Sam, for Tina, for the rest of the New Directions, for Nationals, for those crazy clubs, for not being around Sebastian. I can exist without Kurt. That existence is just...lonely. He gets that, and he's trying to give me space to grow.
