Blaine’s eyes fluttered open. He lay there, staring at the celing, and reached for Kurt’s hand, but instead he just found blanket. Turning his head, he saw that the door to the bedroom was open. Running a hand through his mussy curls, he sat up, smiling. He swung his legs over the side of the bed, grabbing his robe. Just as he stood up and stretched, Kurt entered the room.
‘’Blaine! You’re up! I wanted to surprise you in bed!’’ Kurt exclaimed.
‘’Hey, don’t worry about it..’’ Blaine replied.
‘Come on, come with me.’’ Said Kurt, grabbing Blaine’s hand and yanking him into the dining room. Blaine’s face filled with disbelief.
‘’Oh Kurt, you didn’t need to do this for me!’’ Blaine managed to get out.
‘’Blaine, happy birthday!!’’ Kurt squealed, hugging him.
Blaine made his way around the beautifully decorated living room, shocked. He knew at once, that Kurt had spent hours laying out everything, with the utmost care.
‘’This is amazing, Kurt. Th-Thank you!!’’ Blaine pulled Kurt in for a long kiss.
“I just want to make sure this day is magical for you.’’ Kurt smiled sheepishly.
Blaine sighed happily. He reached for Kurt’s hand, intertwining his fingers in his own.
“Kurt, I love you. You are the best husband I could ever ask for.” Blaine smiled, “Man, it’s good to be able to call you that.” Kurt and Blaine were married the previous day, under the recently passed New York law.
Blaine started walking back to their room. ‘’Where are you going, Blaine? My dear husband?”. Kurt giggled.
Blaine laughed, enjoying every minute of this banter. “I am going to go shower, so we can go out! Maybe go visit friends, maybe Santana and Brit!’’ Blaine kissed Kurt on his cheek, and skipped off. Kurt sat there, wondering, how he managed to land someone as amazing as Blaine. He thought of Blaine and nothing else as he went to their room to make his hair look fabulous.
Half-an-hour later, they emerged from their house, hand in hand. They got in the car, escaping the bitter December air, Blaine in the drivers seat. Kurt sighed, glancing at Blaine lovingly.
They arrived at 18742 West Avenue just as it began to snow. Getting out of the car, Kurt seemed happy at the weather. “Snow. How romantic.” Blaine smiled, clearly remembering how Kurt had said that right before Blaine had proposed to him.
“Let’s go, Kurt.” They approached the door and Blaine reached out a gloved hand and knocked. The door swung open almost at once to reveal a simply dressed woman in a high ponytail.
“KURT! BLAINE!” Her eyes lit up with surprise, pulling them both into a tight hug.
“Hey, Rachel! I’ve missed you so much!” Kurt replied delightedly. Kurt heard the loud footsteps that could only belong to Finn.
“Hey Rachel, who was at the doo-“ He stopped mid sentence. “Hey! Guys, how’ve ya been? My brother and new brother-in-law!’’Finn hugged them, smiling. “Blaine, it’s always good to see you!’’Finn gave Blaine a high five.
“Come in, Come in guys!” Rachel ushered them inside.
“Listen, we really can’t stay too long. Me and Blaine have to get back home in 2 hours. I just wanted to stop by. We have missed you guys so much!!”
“OH BLAINE! Happy Birthday!” Rachel interrupted. “Best birthday present ever eh? You two finally getting married?”
“Yeah, I’m a lucky man!” Blaine looked at Kurt dreamily.
They sat and chatted for a while, laughing.
“well, we really gotta go now.” Blaine said after about an hour, standing up.
“Do you guys really have to go?” Finn pleaded, his hands on Rachel’s shoulders. Kurt nodded, “We do. See you around guys!” Kurt and Blaine left the Hudson’s apartment with smiles on their faces. Getting into the car Blaine turned to Kurt.
“Kurt, you know we aren’t going home right?” Blaine asked skeptically.
Kurt nodded, laughing. “Of course! We are going to Breadsticks. I am so glad they have a branch here in New York.”
And, with one hand on the steering wheel, the other clasping Kurt’s hands tightly, they drove off into the beautiful snow.
