Aimee Hummel-Anderson had been tapping her pencil against a blank notebook page for almost an hour now, glancing over from her spot at the kitchen table into the living room every few minutes while her fathers lounged on the sofa watching their Friday night measure of reality television, knowing full well not to interrupt them. Another few minutes had past and when Aimee finally heard the credit music, she set her pencil down, stood up, and carefully made her way to the other room, her hands folded nervously over her chest.
"How could they have eliminated her?" Kurt exclaimed feeling absolutely livid from the latest episode of one of his favorite shows. Blaine couldn't help but chuckle at his husband's expense, Kurt always got so worked up over shows like this. Blaine was about to retort back until they noticed their nine-year-old daughter standing before them, looking a little distressed.
"What is it, sweetheart?" Kurt asked curiously as he sat up from where he was. Aimee nervously pulled at her sleeve, looking down at the floor while the heels of her feet moved up and down in a rhythmic motion, almost hopping.
"Can I ask you guys something?"
"Of course, baby, you can ask us anything" Blaine replied sensing the tension in his daughter's demeanor.
Aimee took a deep breath, moving her head up so that she could look her fathers straight in the eyes, thinking it was now or never;
"HowwasIadopted?" she said quickly, causing her fathers to be taken aback a little when they had gathered what she said. They all were silence and still for almost a minute when Blaine cleared his throat,
"Why the sudden interest?"
"It's for school" Aimee said, her nerves still present, "We're supposed to write an autobiography of our lives from the time we were born to now...all the kids in my class were talking about where they're from and how they were born...and I was the only one who didn't know where I came from." The two men could feel their hearts sinking listening to this. Aimee always knew she was adopted, if the fact that she had two dads and her appearance didn't make that obvious enough, and they both made it a point to never keep anything from their daughter, especially when it came to things like this. However, she had never asked this before, and there never seemed to be a time where Aimee had to know, until now.
"I'll make the hot cocoa" Kurt stood up heading for the kitchen, from their almost 10 years of experience as parents Kurt and Blaine discovered that when it came to serious, emotional discussions with their daughter, hot chocolate always made it easier. Whether it was the warmth and sweetness of it that lightened the mood, or the convenience of taking a long sip if one needed a moment to come up with something to say. Kurt heated up the milk on the stove, poured it into 3 mugs of powdered chocolate mixture, added marshmallows, and put small shots of Baileys in his and Blaine's mugs — they were going to need it for this one. Then he came back into the room with the 3 mugs on a tray, Aimee was already curled up on the couch next to Blaine.
"Alright, sweetie" Kurt said sitting down after they all took their respected mugs, "What exactly do you want to know?"
Aimee thought for a moment while blowing on her hot drink, "I dunno, I guess just how you got me, like what made you want to adopt a baby?"
Kurt chuckled a little, "Wow, well let's see...I think Daddy and I were married for a couple of years when we decided we wanted a baby-"
"You know..." Blaine interrupted, a sly grin on his face, "Your Daddy didn't even want a baby at first."
"Oh wow you just had to bring that up, Blaine?" Kurt exclaimed noticing the horrified look that was now spread across Aimee's face, "Just to make it clear: it's not that I didn't want a baby, I just wasn't sure I wanted one." Unfortunately the young girl's expression didn't change, Kurt sighed, "Well it looks like we're going to have to start this story a little farther back in time."
Blaine laughed, "Well it was about 10 years ago..."
Kurt had never been so happy to be home in his entire life as he slouched into his Upper West Side apartment completely exhausted. He had spent the last eight hours in non-stop rehearsal for the new show he was in. It wasn't a lead role, heck it wasn't even a supporting role, but it was better than nothing. As Kurt hung his coat on the hook and gently pulled off his designer boots all he wanted to do was take a long hot bath and go to bed, until he noticed a small table set up in the middle of the room, two candles lit and the table set for two.
"Hey you" Blaine came out of the kitchen to greet his wonderful husband, pecking him lightly on the lips, he then took his hands and held them close.
"Blaine, what's all this?" Kurt asked forgetting how tired he was.
"Well, today is a very special day" Kurt tilted his head, "Our ten year anniversary silly" Blaine explained sweetly, but Kurt raised an eyebrow at this, first of all they had only been married for 2 years, and he distinctly remembers them getting married in May, "It's not our wedding anniversary" Blaine specified, "Think about it..."
Kurt stood for a moment trying to remember the date and why it would be significant, then it only took a few seconds before a smile spread across his face, "March 15th...you remembered...?"
"Of course I did" Blaine said gently kissing Kurt's knuckles, "How could I forget the day I fell in love with you." Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck and they softly kissed, slowly becoming deeper and more passionate as the minutes went by, then Blaine pulled back, causing a small whine to escape from the taller man.
"We can resume after dinner" Blaine reassured him as he led Kurt by the hand to the table and pulled a chair out for him, "I've been in the kitchen all afternoon-"
"Blaine we talked about this-"
"-I know you said I wasn't allowed to cook anymore after last time-"
"-You nearly set the building on fire!"
"But I actually followed the directions, got a little help from Rachel over the phone, and I went with something simple" Blaine came out of the kitchen with two covered plates, placed on in front of Kurt, and pulled the top off the reveal spaghetti and meatballs, "The sauce and meatballs and home made"
"Impressive," Kurt beamed, "And what's the damage on my kitchen?"
"It'll be clean by tomorrow morning I swear!" Blaine said causing him to laugh. He was just so adorable. They sat down and quietly ate their meals, halfway through Kurt set his fork down and gave Blaine a skeptical look,
"I feel like you have an ulterior motive to all this."
"How can you tell?" Blaine uttered sheepishly.
"Because as you have so romantically pointed out, I've known you for over 10 years"
Blaine laughed a looked down for a moment, suddenly looking a little more tense than before, "Well you can see right through me...I do have another reason for doing this."
"Okay what do you want?" he asked amused taking a sip from his glass.
"...A baby" Kurt almost did a spit take of his wine, choking for moment before getting a response out.
"I'm sorry, what?"
Blaine shrugged, "I think it's time we started a family."
"What brought this up all of us sudden?"
"I've been thinking about it for a while actually, I've always known I was going to be a dad someday, and it seems like the time is right for us don't you think?"
"Can we afford a baby?"
"Well we have money saved up in the bank, and putting together your salary and my salary, we should be able to do it"
"And where exactly would we put a baby?"
"We could turn the office slash spare room into another bedroom, we could move the desk and computer into the living room, and the rest of the stuff we can sell or put into storage"
Clearly Kurt was not going to be able to pitch his way out of this one, Blaine had thought of everything.
"Kurt...do you...not want a child?"
"For God's sake, Blaine!" Kurt slammed his fork onto the table, feeling bad because he didn't want to be mad at him, "I come home from a very long and stressful day of rehearsal and you seriously throw this at me and expect me to just give an answer without even giving it some thought?"
"No! Of course not Kurt I...I'm not trying to pressure you or anything but-"
"I just-I need to go to bed" Kurt got up from the table, gently placing his hand on Blaine's shoulder, "Thanks for dinner." And with that he walked into their bedroom, not every saying good night. Blaine could only sigh to himself, blowing out the candles.
"How could you, Daddy?" Aimee said disappointed in her father.
"Hey you're here aren't you?" Kurt exclaimed "So clearly I changed my mind!"
"What happened after that?"
"Daddy and I didn't really talk about it much after that...I didn't want to upset him and I figured when he was ready to talk about it he would" Blaine explained giving Kurt and small smile to which he smiled back, "It was a little while later that-actually now that I think about it, you should thank Eloise" Blaine said referring to Finn and Rachel's daughter.
"Why?" Aimee asked confused, what did her slightly older cousin have to do with this? Kurt nodded and proceeded.
It had been a few weeks since their little "fight" and Blaine hadn't brought it up since. He couldn't lie, he really wanted to be a dad, have that experience of raising a child, but Blaine didn't want one if Kurt wasn't one hundred percent on board with it. And it's not like they had a time limit on when they could have a child, though Blaine would've liked it to be sooner than later.
That night the couple was spending their evening having a movie night, cuddling with each other under a blanket and watching some of their favorite classic movies. However, they weren't paying much attention to the movie as Blaine nuzzled Kurt's neck while Kurt tangled his fingers into Blaine's un-gelled locks. They had just began to make out when Kurt's phone went off, killing the moment. Kurt annoyingly picked up his phone and checked the caller ID, it was Finn of all people.
"Finn, you better have a good reason for calling this la-...What?...A-Are you sure?...Okay-Okay, Finn just calm down!...alright...yeah we'll meet you there!...bye!" Kurt hung up the phone and gleefully bounced up from the sofa, "Rachel's water broke!" Kurt said as he went to the coat closet.
"Really? I thought she wasn't due for another couple of weeks?" Blaine said surprised.
"Well clearly this baby has other plans!" Kurt called out grabbing his coat and tossing one to Blaine, "I told him we'd meet them at the hospital, let's go let's go!"
"Heh, leave it to Rachel Berry's child to make a memorable first appearance."
A little while later they had arrived at the hospital and found Rachel's room. When they walked in she was already hooked up to various monitors, looking surprisingly calm for a woman in labor for the first time, but this was Rachel after all. Finn on the other hand looked a little pale, like he could pass out at any moment.
"Hey how are you?" Kurt asked giving Rachel a small hug as he and Blaine came into the room.
"I've been better" Rachel replied with a little discomfort in her voice, "But the good news is they said I should be having this baby tonight"
"Are you nervous at all?"
"A little, but it'll be fine, right, Honey?" Rachel said taking her husband out of his terrified/focused trance.
"Uhh right! Right what's there to be nervous about?" Finn said not hiding at all the panic in his voice, he jumped when he felt Blaine's hand pat his shoulder.
"Come on dude, I think we could use some coffee" Blaine spoke.
"But-But I can't leave! What if the baby comes? I have to stay her-"
"Finn, I'm not going to have the baby in the next five minutes" Rachel said trying to calm him down, "Go on" Finn nodded and gently pecked Rachel's cheek before Blaine led him out the room for a dose of caffeine leaving Kurt and Rachel alone.
"Well Finn's acting just like the stereotypical new father" Kurt laughed sitting down in a chair next to Rachel's bed.
"I think he's just scared" Rachel replied with a hint of worry in her voice, "he's been worrying about whether he'll be a good father or not. I keep telling him he'll be amazing at it but it still doesn't calm him." Rachel winced a little when she felt a contraction but it faded after about thirty seconds, after it was over with she noticed Kurt's expression.
"Are you okay? You seem a little off" Rachel asked concerned. Kurt took a deep breath and held Rachel's hand,
"Promise you won't tell?" Kurt asked raising an eyebrow, Rachel nodded, "...Blaine wants a baby."
"Oh Kurt that's wonderful!" Rachel squealed out of reflex with excitement, until she saw the doubt in Kurt's face, "...isn't it?"
"Oh God Rachel I don't know!" Kurt blurted out covering his forehead with one hand, "Everything was going so great and I finally felt like my life had some stability and then he goes and throws this into the picture!"
"You don't want children Kurt?"
"Of course I do!" Kurt retaliated a little snappier than he should have, "I just-well we've only been married for a couple of years, I figured maybe we'd just be married for a while, we could build up our careers, do all the things we want to do first, and then once I hit middle age at thirty-five then we could talk about possibly bringing a child into the mix."
"Have you talked to Blaine about this?"
Kurt sighed, "I don't know how to tell him...you should have seen the look on his face."
"You two would make great dads" Rachel grinned sweetly.
"Not helping Rachel." Kurt pinched the bridge of his nose annoyed, "I just don't see myself as a father right now."
"Well look at me and Finn" Rachel said, "Here I am at the peak of my career on Broadway and I get pregnant."
"That's a little different Rachel, you didn't plan it." That was one thing Kurt thought was so lucky about being gay, he can't accidentally have a baby.
"I know but I felt the same way. I didn't think I could be a mother, not at that time, not with so much going on. I know I always said in high school that I'd have children by 25 but for some reason I just wasn't sure I needed that kind of responsibility right then, not when I was so close to the fame I had worked all my life to get."
"You never told me that." Kurt said surprised.
"I didn't even tell Finn..." Rachel looked down rubbing her large midsection affectionately, "But then, as time went on, and I felt this baby growing inside me, something changed. I suddenly realize that this was my baby...and as time went on and I could feel it moving inside me and look at pictures, I just fell in love." Rachel wiped a small tear from her eye, "And now, I just can't wait to hold it in my arms. This child's entire future and being rests in my hands...and suddenly all that hard work and fame...it all seems so small now." Kurt looked down and his hands holding Rachel's,
"What if I'm no good at it...?" He whispered in a frightened voice.
"I think that when the time comes Kurt, you'll understand."
A few long and painful hours later Rachel was finally about to have the baby. Only two other people were allowed in the room during the birth so Blaine opted to stay in the waiting room while Finn and Kurt stayed with her. Of course Blaine wasn't missing anything, Rachel's mezzo-soprano voice could be heard belting from all the way down the hall, only a couple of times could Blaine make out words being said, the majority of them being words of profanity, most likely being directed towards Finn. Blaine was taking this time being eternally grateful that he wasn't born a woman. A little while later Blaine saw Kurt walking down the hall towards him, a little skip in his step.
"It's a girl" Kurt said excitedly hugging Blaine, "And she's just adorable!" They both headed back to the room and saw that Rachel was holding her daughter now, completely exhausted but happy, Finn sitting next to her on the bed staring down at the newborn as well.
"She gorgeous, Rachel" Blaine said admiring the little girl, "She looks like you."
"Hey, she looks like me too!" Finn spoke up grinning from ear to ear.
"She definitely has her mama's lungs" Kurt commented with a laugh, "She's a belter!"
"What's her name?" Blaine asked.
"Eloise Barbra Hudson" The new mother replied softly caressing her finger on the sleeping baby's cheek, figures Rachel would choose that as her daughter's middle name. She then knelt her head down a little and whispered,
"What's that? You want a little cousin?" Rachel looked up and grinned at Kurt who's eyes widened, luckily though Finn and Blaine didn't hear it, "Do you want to hold her, Kurt?"
"Oh, sure!" He said eagerly, Rachel gently handed the infant to her brother-in-law, both making sure he had a good hold on her entire body before she let go, "Wow, she feels so light." Kurt gently rocked her in his arms, then suddenly her eyes slowly opened, revealing her soft brown irises similar to her parents'. She made a small cooing noise as she stretched her arms, she settled in Kurt's arms and her eyes shifted towards him, "Wow..." Kurt uttered again, barely a whisper.
The rest of the week ended up being very lively. Rachel's dad has flown to New York right after the birth along with Burt and Carole to meet their granddaughter along with helping out while Rachel rested and recovered for the first few days. Kurt was also a little distant that week, everyone was so busy gushing over the new baby that Blaine was the only one to notice. Kurt told him that he was just flustered from all the excitement, but for some reason Blaine had this nagging feeling that he wasn't telling the truth.
A few days later Kurt laid in bed staring at the ceiling, something he had grown accustomed to for the past week, his mind racing too much for him to sleep. Kurt finally took a deep breath and turned towards his husband laying beside him, his back facing him. He took his hand and placed it on his shoulder,
"Blaine?...Blaine?" Kurt whispered shaking his husband gently, "Are you awake?"
He could hear Blaine grumble and he turned over to he was facing him, "I am now, what's up?"
"I want a baby" Kurt blurted out without even thinking, causing Blaine to become fully awake, he sat up and turned on a lamp on the nightstand, then looked at Kurt.
"What?"
"You heard me..." Kurt uttered softly, looking down at his hands, "I've been thinking about it...and I think I wanna do it...I want to have a baby."
"Wait-you're not doing this for me right? Because I don't want to do this if you aren't sure-" Blaine stammered only to be interrupted by Kurt kissing him softly on the lips, he kissed back, lasting for a few minutes until Kurt broke away.
"I want us to be parents Blaine" Kurt said holding his husband's hand, " Eloise being born this week, it made me realize how much I want that. I want us to hold our baby and look at it the same way Rachel and Finn look at Eloise. I want to decorate a nursery, pick out adorable baby clothes, take long strolls through the park with our baby in the stroller. I even want to have late night feedings and dirty diapers." he chuckled at that late statement then took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, "I want a baby."
Blaine looked at Kurt with the most loving eyes and grabbed his face to kiss it hard but gently, "I love you so much." He said afterward,
"I love you too."
"So we're really going to do this?"
"I say we start right away." Kurt laughed and proceeded to move so that he was laying right on top of Blaine, gently moving his hands up his chest, "So...shall we?"
"Umm, I hate to break it to you Kurt but biologically we can't make a baby."
"That doesn't mean we can't partake in what straight couples get to do when they want a baby." He replied growling, Blaine immediately got the message and pulled Kurt down on him.
"So then you two went and got me?" Aimee asked taking a large gulp from her mug.
"Well it's not that simple, Aimee" Blaine said rubbing her shoulder, "Daddy and I waited almost a year before we got you."
"Really?" she said shocked, "What was that like?"
"Very tedious." Kurt spoke as he continued.
Kurt and Blaine knew that adoption wasn't going to be easy, but they didn't expect the paperwork to be this much. It took them weeks before they finally had it filled out completely. Then they had to find an agency and they managed to get one of the best social workers in New York. They opted to adopt a child simply because there were so many children out there who needed good homes so it might as well be theirs. The couple had thought of surrogacy but then they felt it would be unfair if only one of them was biologically related to a child, plus they didn't have many women friends who they felt could do it,
"What about Rachel? She seems like she would want to do it." Blaine suggested.
"Yeah, Honey, you weren't in the delivery room, trust me I highly doubt she's going to want to go through that again any time soon."
After turning in their paperwork they had many meetings with their social worker, had the home visit, and it was declared that they were absolutely qualified to adopt a baby, all that was left to do was wait.
And waiting they did. Days turned into weeks, which then turned into months. After ten months of no calls about a baby the couple became worried. What if their paperwork got filled out wrong? What if nobody wanted to give their baby to a couple of gays? It hurt them whenever they went another day without a call, eventually learning not to get their hopes us and let it happen, whenever that would be.
January came and New York was covered in fresh snow. Kurt and Blaine decided to go to Central Park that night. They always loved taking long walks on the paths and admiring the beauty of it all, it was one of the main reasons why they decided to live right in the city instead of in a suburb close by, all you had to do was step out your door and the action was right there. The only thing that would make this moment better was if they had a baby with them to push in a stroller. However, the men tried not to think about it as they held hands intertwined as they walked down the path, Kurt's head resting on Blaine's shoulder, not speaking but just enjoying the time together not letting their worries bother them at the moment. Unfortunately, once again Kurt forgot to put his cell on silent and it went off, only this time Kurt's eyes lit up when he saw the caller ID, he pressed the answer button, not even thinking of informing Blaine.
"Hello?...Yes...what?...Are you seriou-? yes! Of course!...Oh my God...okay we will...we'll see you then...alright...th-thank you do much." Kurt talked on the phone Blaine looking over trying to figure out what he was talking about. When Kurt finally hung up he just stood there for a moment, one hand being brought to his mouth as tears started falling from his eyes.
"Kurt?" Blaine asked squeezing his lover's hand, "Who was that? What's going on?"
Kurt stood there for a moment before regaining some composure so he could talk, he looked at Blaine, "...They're giving us a baby."
The shorter man looked at him for a second before it sunk in, "...They are?"
Kurt nodded excitedly, "We're going to be daddies!" With that Blaine grabbed Kurt by the waist and pulled him into a deep hug and Kurt wrapped his arms around his neck. They both just stood there embracing for almost 5 minutes laughing before locking their lips together for a loving kiss, not caring that they were in public. Finally they parted a little so they could look into each others' eyes, both their faces stained with streams of tears on their cheeks.
"They said that they have to file all the paperwork and settle it all, and that we can get her in a couple of days" Kurt explained jumping a little.
"Her?" Blaine said raising an eyebrow smiling. Kurt nodded back and for the second time that night Blaine pulled Kurt in for a kiss, when they broke away Blaine was smiling even harder, "You know what the best part is?...I actually wanted a little girl."
What most parents had 9 months to prepare for a baby, Kurt and Blaine had to do in only a few days. In one day they spent it all going out to buy furniture, clothes, baby gear, formula, and any other accessory they could think of that would be useful. They quickly managed to put together the nursery, which they waited until the last minute because they didn't want to get their hopes up in case it didn't work out. Although Kurt wished he could have had time to paint the room a pastel pink color like he imagined, they had to settle on using the already coral colored walls with the white paneling. It ended up not being a bad thing because it allowed Kurt to decorate the room into a tasteful yet still girly nursery for the typical New Yorker girl. Burt and Carole even drove all the way from Ohio so they could be there when they brought her home.
Eventually the day came when Kurt and Blaine went to the adoption agency to pick up their daughter. They sat in the waiting room for what seemed like forever impatiently waiting for them to be called, hoping they didn't change their minds or something.
"Kurt...I can't feel my fingers." Blaine said bringing Kurt out of his worried trance, he looked down at their hands and realized he was squeezing Blaine's hand so hard it was turning a dark beet color. He apologized and loosened his grip, "Just relax, everything's going to be okay."
"Speak for yourself" Kurt retorted smirking, "you haven't stopped twitching your leg since we got here" he nodded towards Blaine's leg moving up and down, Blaine smiled sheepishly.
"Mr. and...Mr. Hummel-Anderson?" The social work said coming out of the office holding a file in her hand, they immediately got up and went into the office, hand in hand.
"So is everything alright?" Blaine asked as he and Kurt sat in two chairs in front of a desk while the social worker sat on the other said looking over their file.
"Looks like everything's in order" She flashed a smile and stood up and exited the room, "I'll be right back." Kurt and Blaine sat there for a few minutes wondering where she went and why it was taking so long, until the door opened again...only this time their social worker was holding a small pink bundle, "And here is your daughter." They stared at her for a moment, trying to take in what was happening then before they knew it she was handing the baby to Kurt who took her into his arms. She squirmed for a moment from the sensation of being with a new person, but she quickly settled into Kurt's arms, as if she knew.
"What about her birth mother? When do we meet her?" Blaine asked curiously.
The social worker sadly lowered her head, "Unfortunately, the mother died in childbirth from complications, we couldn't find any family members willing to take her, hence why you were called."
"That's horrible." Kurt gasped holding the infant a little tighter, "She's so beautiful..." he said admiring her light olive skin and dark brown hair that perfectly matched her dark eyes.
"She's perfect" Blaine whispered wrapping his arm around his husband's shoulders. They stood like that for a long time, long after the social worker left the room, wishing they could stay in this moment forever.
There was a welcome party present when they got home. Rachel and Carole immediately gushed over how cute the little baby was pointing out every little feature, Burt hugged his son saying how happy he was for him, and Finn congratulated them from the sides while holding Eloise.
"So what's her name?" Rachel asked as she gushed over her new niece. Blaine looked up from his daughter in his arms over to Kurt who smiled at him.
"Aimee" Kurt said walking over and gently caressed the girl's cheek with his finger, "Aimee Elizabeth Hummel-Anderson"
"We named you Aimee because it means 'One who is beloved"'" Kurt said tapping his finger on his daughter's nose, "And your middle name is Elizabeth because it was my mother's name."
"Though we'd be lying if we didn't say we got some inspiration from Aimee Mann and Elizabeth Taylor" Blaine added winking while Kurt rolled his eyes.
"Is that all you wanted to know, honey?"
"Yeah, I think so" Aimee yawned, it being past her usual bedtime, "Thanks...for telling me, I didn't realize how much you went through to adopt me."
"Well we don't regret any of it" Kurt said as he began taking the now empty mugs into the kitchen, when he returned he could see Blaine lifting up their now sleeping daughter, her arms draped over his shoulders,
"Isn't she heavy?" Kurt asked chuckling.
"Naw, my little girl will never be too heavy for me" Blaine replied shifting her weight on him. They both then walked out of the room and to Aimee's bedroom — walls still the same color as the day they brought her home — and Blaine gently laid her into her canopy bed while Kurt pulled back the down comforter and covered her. Then in one movement they knelt down and kissed their girl on the forehead at the same time, careful not to accidentally bump heads.
"I love you, Daddies..." Aimee said sleepily with her eyes still closed as she got comfortable in bed.
"We love you too, Aimee" They replied smiling and quietly left the room to go to their own. Kurt headed into their bathroom for his nightly skin regiment while Blaine changed into his pajamas and fell into the bed on his back. He folding his arms behind his head and stared at the ceiling for a few minutes until he spoke up,
"I don't think we've ever told that story in such detail before."
Kurt popped his head out from the bathroom rubbing cream onto his cheeks, "Well I guess we never had a time where we needed to." he made a small laugh as he turned off the light "You know it's funny" he plopped down on the bed, "Ten years ago I wasn't sure I wanted a child, but now I can't see my life without her."
"Me neither" Blaine rolled over and wrapped his arms around his husband, "I think we're doing a pretty good job don't you think?"
"Well she's healthy, happy, polite, has good grades, and doesn't have a tattoo, so I think we're doing okay"
Blaine laughed brushing his nose against Kurt's, "So no regrets?"
The countertenor planted a soft kiss on his husband's lips, "None whatsoever"

i enjoyed this very much. it was very sweet and it felt very domestic-like. don't know if that makes sense or not. hmmm. there was just a warm feeling of happiness and family. i would be more than honored to read an aimee-kurt-blaine series that focuses on this family. i'm really invested in these characters. how about a baby brother for aimee when she's 5?
