Kurt was still in a state of kept playing the kiss over and over in his head, just trying to make sure he hadn't dreamed the whole thing. He'd wanted to do a heel-click as soon as he and Blaine had finished practicing, but Blaine walked him to his car, so he didn't have the chance.
By now, Kurt's smile was uncontrollable as he walked through the front door of his house. He was trying to play it cool in front of his family after Blaine had finally kissed him, but he couldn't help it. He wanted to sing at the top of his lungs and dance around with joy. The boy he'd been in love with since December liked him back! It was the single most wonderful day of his life.
"What are you so happy about?" asked Carole from the kitchen as she saw him walk in the door.
"Oh, I-I'm going to be performing a duet with Blaine at Regionals." He wasn't sure if he wanted Carole to know. She was becoming a mom to him, but he wasn't sure if she would tell his dad and how he would react to the news.
"Congratulations, sweetie," she said as she continued drying the dishes. "I know you'll do wonderfully."
"Thanks."
"Are you sure that's all. I've never seen you so happy."
Kurt paused for a minute. He quickly decided that he needed to share this big moment in his life with someone in his family and why shouldn't it be Carole?
"Well, today was the most wonderful day becauseBlainekissedme."
"I didn't quite understand you."
Kurt took a deep breath. "Blaine kissed me this afternoon." Kurt paused for a second to assess Carole's reaction. "And it was the most wonderful thing to have ever happened to me. There were so many fireworks and shooting stars and I feel like I'm floating. It was perfect." By this time, Kurt was practically bouncing from reliving the kiss in his head.
"Oh, sweetie," said Carole as she put down the dish rag and pulled Kurt into a hug. "I'm so happy for you." It was only now that Kurt realized she was crying.
"I hope those are happy tears."
"Oh, of course they are," she said sniffling. "I'm just so happy that you've finally got some happiness in your life after all you've had to go through in these past few months."
Kurt was tearing up now. He hadn't realized how much she had to deal with. "Thank you," he said as he hugged her a little tighter. "I'm so glad that I have you to share this with."
"I'm glad I could be here," she said as she pulled back from the hug, still holding Kurt's upper arms.
They smiled at each other for a second before Kurt said, "Promise you won't tell my dad? I'm not sure how he's going to react to the news."
"You're secret is safe with me. But you will have to tell him eventually." Kurt nodded. "Now go call Mercedes. She'll be upset if she finds out you told me first."
They both laughed as Kurt picked up his bag from the floor and ran up the stairs to call Mercedes.
