Author's Notes:

There was a moment's silence after Blaine left the choir room.  For many of them it was the first time they'd seen the normally cool and collected dapper former-Warbler be anything other than diplomatic.  Only Kurt wasn't.  He'd known this was coming, the Blaine he'd shared coffee with that morning was doing a very good impression of a volcano and he'd finally blown.

Blaine's temper was well-hidden and usually well managed but Kurt had seen firsthand what it was like during the summer when Mr Anderson had made some choice remarks.  That had been the same night he'd found out that his boyfriend knew how to box.

Kurt looked from Finn to Sam.  Sam looked shocked at what had just happened and Finn was... oh for the love of all that was holy, Finn was apologising for what had just happened.  Like he had no part in it.  Kurt wanted to grab his brother and shake him, make him realise that he had played a very big part in what had just happened.

"Shouldn't this be the point where we go after him?" Kurt said, his voice clipped. "Or have we got to the stage where we just ignore our friends who are upset about something?"

"Dude, he attacked Sam," Finn said.

Kurt rolled his eyes and threw his hands up in resignation.  "And clearly that's something Blaine does all the time, so let's leave him to it shall we?"

"He was outta line..."

"He wasn't the only one," Kurt muttered.

"What?"

"What is his problem?" Sam asked.

"Maybe it was the fact that he was just trying to help and you basically insulted him," Kurt said.

"Boy band moves are not going to win us Regionals!"

"But going out there and acting like sex mad teenagers will?" Kurt retorted.  "It's not who we are and I don't know if you've noticed but we're pretty guy heavy so what's wrong with the boy band look?  But maybe you're right.  Maybe boy band moves don't work.  I can't remember the last time we had a successful boy band in the charts..." he drawled, voice dripping with sarcasm.

"He was still outta line," Finn said, his voice a little less sure than before.  "What he said to Sam..."

"Because you've never said something you regret?" Kurt replied, his eyes narrowing.  He felt a little guilty as Finn remembered the very line that Kurt wanted him to.  "Because you've never been so wound up or angry or just... frustrated?  You do realise that Blaine's not perfect, right?  Because he's my boyfriend and even I figured that one out."

"Dude..."

"Fine.  I'll go, don't want to put any of you out," Kurt cut across him, moving towards the door.  "It's not as if Blaine's turned his whole world around for me and transferred to a school away from his friends and a group where his opinions were actually listened to..."

He stopped his rant as he realised that someone had fallen into step beside him.

Finn.

"What?" he snapped.

"I'll help you look," Finn said, his voice quiet.

"Why?"

"Because... because it matters to you."

"And that's the only reason?" Kurt asked, stopping dead in the hallway. "Because it matters to me?  You don't feel... anything?"

Finn stopped too and blinked.  "Didn't we cover the whole I'm not..." he started, stopping when Kurt's eyes narrowed in that dangerous way.  "I..."

"You're my brother.  He's my boyfriend.  You two are supposed to get on."

"Like you and Rachel?" Finn asked.

"Yeah, I guess.  But you two aren't and I don't know why.  You got on fine this summer.  Unless that was the act?"

"No, Blaine's sound.  He's...  He's just..."

"Trying to help," Kurt finished for him.  "The Warblers had a council, you know? Everyone got a say, everyone was listened to."

"You said it was the Blaine show."

"Yeah, well, he was their star.  We have Rachel, they had him.  And he came here, gave all that up, for me.  And in return he has been ostracised and shot down every time he opened his mouth."

"I never..."

"On his first day you accused him of setting a bonfire in the courtyard!"

"Yeah... well..."

"Yeah well nothing, Finn.  You know when people were making all those comments about me?  All those little things putting me down?"

"Yeah, they were way outta line and..."  Finn's face fell as he made the connection.  "Oh."

"Yeah, oh.  You've made his life hell, Finn, and I swear if he goes back to Dalton I will never forgive you."

"He wouldn't, would he?"

No, Kurt thought.  But Finn didn't know that.  "Wouldn't you?"

"But Sectionals is this week..."

"So how about you help me find someone who could actually fill Rachel's shoes and help us win this thing?"

"Right.  Any idea where he would be?"

Kurt thought about it for a second.  "Why don't you go check the halls, the change rooms, I'll take the library and study rooms."

"Really?" Finn asked in confusion.

"Worth a shot," Kurt said.  "Call me if you find him."

Kurt waited until Finn had left before walking in, smiling as he took in the sight. "Have I told you recently I love watching you box?"

"Do you now?" Blaine laughed.

(Actually laughed and it made Kurt's heart stop for a second out of pure happiness.)

Kurt moved across to him but Blaine took a step back.

"I'm all sweaty," he said.  When Kurt just grinned at him he laughed again.  "I should grab a shower before I go back to Glee."

"I think we should skip the rest of it," Kurt said.

"I need to talk to Sam."

"It can keep until tomorrow."

"I was out of line, I shouldn't have said..."

"You were angry, Blaine.  It's understandable."

"I took it out on Sam..."

"Let Finn deal with it.  You two have made the peace, right?"

"Yeah, think so."

Kurt picked up the glove that Blaine had removed and experimentally slid a few fingers in.  It was still damp with Blaine's sweat and it wasn't as gross as it would have been once.  "Good."

"Why do I get the feeling you actually planned this?" Blaine asked, lifting the glove from Kurt's hand and strapping it back on.  "How did Finn know where to find me?"

"You two needed to sort it out," Kurt said, moving into Blaine's personal space and carefully adjusting his top so it sat better on his shoulders.  "I can't have my boyfriend and my brother fighting.  Doesn't make for good Friday dinners. You two giving each other daggers across the table would give Dad another heart attack."

"So who would you choose then, if it came down to it?" Blaine teased, moving back over to the punching bag.

"What?"

"If you had to choose between me and Finn, who would win?"

Kurt laughed softly and moved to the other side of the bag, grabbing it the way that Blaine had taught him.  "I'd better say you, hadn't I?  Don't want you visualising my face on this bag."

Blaine looked around them, checking the coast was clear before twisting his body around the bag to steal a quick kiss.  "Never," he smiled.

"I love you," Kurt smiled,  "but I'm glad I don't have to choose."

"I'd never make you," Blaine replied, raising his hands.  "I know it'd be me."

Kurt's laugh was drowned in the soft thumps of Blaine's fists connecting with the bag.

End Notes:

Because it bugged me that Finn found Blaine. What? Kurt didn't go after his boyfriend? And yeah, how did Finn know where to find him?
