“Kurt I promise it’ll be fun! We can relax and cuddle and just enjoy a peaceful night in.”
“Well fine, if this is how you want to spend your turn for date night then I won’t argue.” Kurt readjusted himself on Blaine’s bed smoothing out the bit of blanket laying in front of him “I just kind of wish you’d warned me, I would of worn something more comfortable” he said as he stretched his legs, hoping to find some satisfactory way of sitting in skinny jeans.
Blaine smirked at his boyfriend’s discomfort, “I think you still have some sweat pants here? You can go change while I grab the movies”
When Kurt returned almost ten minutes later Blaine was perched on his bed with his laptop on one side and a pile of about twelve movies on the other. “We can’t possibly get through that many movies Blaine. We only have one night.”
“I know, I just picked a few at random, and I figured you could pick your favorites.” He smiled widely, stealing a few appreciative looks at his boyfriend’s body as Kurt stretched out contemplating the pile of movies before them.
“Well, let’s start with Mary Poppins, I don’t think I’ve seen this since I was a kid” Kurt said a just a bit over enthusiastically, bouncing a little on the bed as he spoke. Blaine swept the movie up quickly perching the computer on his lap carefully and popping the movie in as Kurt settled himself, cuddling into his boyfriend’s side.
“Do not fall asleep,” Blaine warned jokingly “…or I’ll be forced to practice my amazing skills with a sharpie all over your face.”
“Oh please, you’ll be asleep before we even make it past the opening credits”
As it turns out, Blaine did make it past the opening credits, right up until the movie really was just getting started. When the children and Mary were cleaning up the nursery, Blaine was already in a deep sleep, and by the time they were starting their walk, Blaine was deep in a world of his own courtesy of his dreams.
Blaine found himself almost within a painting. There was a distinct smell of chalk in the air, fuzzy distant scenery lying before him, bright colours and crooked lines. He wore a look of childlike wonder on his face. He almost began to think how he could possibly have gotten there, but the thought left his mind as soon as it came, worried it might just break whatever glorious spell was responsible for the fantasy world before him. He found himself slowly spinning in a circle taking it all in, there was a sense of I’ve been here before nagging at the back of his mind but he quickly filed the thought away for later consideration.
He could hear the sounds of children laughing and upbeat music dancing along with the breeze coming from no doubt some sort of playground or carnival. As he began to walk along the dirt road he saw a figure not too far off into the distance. The silhouette of a tall, slender man, with a beautiful face, that had Blaine beaming with excitement, started coming into focus.
“You know Blaine; it’s incredibly rude to keep someone waiting.” Kurt joked as he turned to face Blaine.
“Hmm, well kind sir, I apologize greatly.” Blaine said as he went to throw his arm around Kurt’s waist in attempt to pull him closer.
“Ah, ah, I don’t think so. What kind of gentleman would I be if I just let you throw your hands all over me?”
Blaine smirked and offered his arm forward, slightly bowing.
“Much better” Kurt quipped.
They were quickly off walking along the winding road, admiring the country side. While back in his room the movie played on in the background, another song starting up. (Press play)
“Ain't it a glorious day? Right as a mornin' in May I feel like I could fly” Blaine was singing before he even realized it, circling around Kurt as they continued to make their way down the dusty road.
Kurt was hiding a smile behind his hand. His eyes lit up with amusement as Blaine continued on “Have you ever seen the grass so green? Or a bluer sky? Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you Kurt.”
Kurt outright laughed at that, loud and clear, his laughter hanging in the air. His face tinting with a bit of pink, his eyes bright and his nose scrunched up as he continued to laugh and joined in Blaine’s dancing. They soon happened upon a small pond littered with small flowers falling from the trees. The soft pink petals floating across the surface of the water, little clusters of pink swirling around and tangling with low hanging branches of the crouched over weeping willow tree. Their hands remaining linked while they explored their new surroundings.
Oh happiness is blooming all around us. The daffodils are smiling at the dove. When he holds your hand you feel so grand. Your heart starts beating like a big brass band. Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you Kurt. No wonder that it's you that I love!
Kurt suddenly let his hand go and took off running, Blaine doing his best to keep up. Kurt was soon out of sight and Blaine continued to follow as best as he could. His boyfriend's musical laughter filling the air intertwined with the affectionate teasing jeers being bellowed out every so often.
"Oh Come on Blaine! Your legs aren't that short honey."
"It's just a little hill, what was it that engine always said? I think I can, I think I can."
When Blaine finally found himself up over the hill he was met with the sight of bushes of bright hydrangeas, growing lush, and a faint sweet smell permeating the surrounding airspace. He continued forward following a small path almost completely hidden by the overbearing bushes of flowers, the unmistakable voice of Kurt softly singing captivating him.
A gleaming white gazebo seemed to crop up out of nowhere as he approached the end of the narrow path. Kurt was sprawled out on a cushion, a toothy smile gracing his features. "Took you long enough"
They sat for a while, breathing in the fresh air. Not many words were shared between them. Mostly they continued staring at each other admiringly, shy smiles breaking out across their faces, quirking an eyebrow every so often. Blaine noticed Kurt beginning to fidget, briefly wondering where he’d lead him to next, and then his boyfriend was running off again, giggling maniacally but still managing to be completely adorable. As it turns out Kurt was leading them to a small playground, bee-lining for the swings.
The metal chains were gleaming in the sunlight, the light reflecting off of them was almost enough to blind them. But somehow brighter still than the glare were the actual seats. They were made of a hard shiny plastic, bright blues and reds. The colours alternated with every other swing. Kurt skipped to the end of the row, plopping himself down on one of the red swings, while leaning over and patting the blue seat next to him gesturing Blaine to come join him. They both swayed for a while. Blaine let the soft breeze do most of the work while Kurt preferred twirling around every which way possible. He also made sure to stop every so often to plant a chaste kiss on Blaine’s lips, leaning back just as quickly watching the faint blush up Blaine’s neck.
Blaine was content just to watch Kurt’s face lighting up with excitement, smiley widely, and cocking his head to the side every so often giving Blaine a questioning look. Almost as if to say, why yes you make me happy don’t look so surprised.
Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you, Blaine. Gentlemen like you are few. Though you’re just a diamond in the rough, Blaine, underneath your blood is blue!
Somehow they were running again, into a meadow this time, flowers sprouting up all around them. A mixture of lilacs and several different coloured poppies. Blaine laughed in disbelief, watching the colours continue to burst from the ground as far as his eyes could see. Kurt had busied himself picking flowers with the brightest yellows and reds he could find, carefully threading them through Blaine’s curls.
A fella needn't fear when you are near. Your sweet gentility is crystal clear! Oh, it's a jolly holiday with you B
“..laine? Blaine honey, wake up.” Kurt was tugging on Blaine’s shoulder, and poking him in the face with a pointed finger, whispering calmly in his ear.
Kurt had a smug look on his face. “Told ya you’d fall asleep first.”
Blaine was looking up at him with a sheepish smile, admiring his boyfriend’s face, his features soft with a fond smile.
“It’s not so bad. The best part is getting to wake up to you.”
