Author's Notes: I understand that some people can't stand when writer's have Blaine sing a Darren song but I've had this idea in my head for a long time. Don't Like. Don't Read.
To Have A Home

Blaine had always put up a faade when he was hanging out with the New Directions outside of Dalton. He put on the face of a boy who was having the time of his life at a fancy prep school just because he could.

At Dalton he never felt like he was accepted. Sure there were the few Warblers that he hung out with but he was never good friends with anyone at Dalton until Kurt transferred. So when Kurt left Dalton; everything went grey again.

When Kurt suggested that Blaine try to enroll at McKinley, the idea appealed to him, even though he knew his dad would never allow him. So after a night of arguing with his father over dinner, his mother gave in and said she would pay for him to enroll at McKinley with her own money.

As hard as his mother tried to make his home environment feel like it should; Blaine was never truly at home when he was with his parents.

So now, a few weeks after being at McKinley. Blaine finally felt at home. The New Directions accepted him with open arms, all except for Finn. After Regionals though, their relationship was getting better.

Blaine walked into the choir room, the only place he felt like he was at home, and stood by the piano. Everyone started coming in, getting ready for glee practice. Kurt walked in and gave him a small smile. Blaine smiled and when Mr. Schuester walked in he went over to the teacher, “Mr. Schuester, these past couple days I wrote something that I’d like to perform for everyone.”

The choir director smiled and nodded, taking a seat on the risers. Blaine smiled and grabbed the music out of his bag and handed it out to the band. When he turned back to the glee club he smiled softly, “I wrote this to say; Thank you for all of you accepting me when I felt alone. You guys didn’t know but, this is just to say thank you.” He smiled softly and nodded to Brad.

Home,
I've heard the word before,
but it never meant much more
than just a thing I've never had.

A "place,"
They say, "Hey, know your place!"
But I've never had a place to even know,
or a face that I could go to
if I needed someone there...

I'm laughing
it's hard to hide a smile
My god, it's been a while
since I have had a reason to.

To think
it's been here all along
somewhere to belong,
and a reason,
a something-to-believe-in

I've finally found it,
a place where I'm wanted...
This must be how it feels to have a home

I used to dream about it
but never schemed or counted
on fantasies or wishes-
it breaks a man to see what he misses

So many nights I'd pray
for a better life, a better day
but I never thought that it'd come true
now that it's here, I don't know what to do
and I'm trying not to cry

This must be how it feels
to have a home

I've finally made it
I've hoped and I've waited
and for the first time in my life, I don't feel so alone

My heart starts to heal
to know that it's real.
This is how it must feel
to have a home!

He held the note and felt arms wrapping around him from different angles. Everyone was wrapped around in a big ball. He laughed with everyone else. He was finally home.
End Notes: Song belongs to Darren Criss. Characters belong to RIB
