2012 Show Choir Champions

William McKinley High New Directions

Kurt stood there transfixed by the trophy...Their trophy. After three years of nothing but hard work they finally claimed what was rightfully theirs. The entire club put their blood, sweat and tears into their performance and it all paid off, finally. Kurt looked around the empty choir room, everyone had gone home after the celebration but he wanted a few minutes to himself in the room where it all began. He reminisced the memories they shared here, the good and the bad. When the original five sang 'Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat' or when Ms. Pillsberry sang 'Afternoon Delight' completely minsterpreting the real meaning behind that song like the little Bambi she is. He laughed because Finn prayed to a sandwich just so he could touch Rachels boobs and because Sam and the guys sang Justin Bieber songs to get girls.

He thought of Blaine too. His sweet, precious boyfriend who completely changed his life. They've had their fair share of fights and issues but that really didn't matter. All that mattered was how Blaine made him feel and everything they share. Blaine was his first dance, first kiss, his first time and his first love. His only love. Kurt had told him that once he was in New York they'd be able to manage a long distance relationship but, honestly, Kurt was scared. Scared that it might not work. What if they couldn't manage it? What if the distance became too much? What if Blaine met someone else?

Kurt walked to the piano, gently stroking the shiny, black surface with his fingers. A song popped into his head so he sat down on the bench and let his hands dance over the familiar keys.

Made a wrong turn, once or twice,

Dug my way out, blood and fire.

Bad decisions, that's alright,

Welcome to my silly life.

Kurt smiled to himself. This was the song they'd sing to each other whenever the other was feeling down. Kurt couldn't help but cheer up when Blaine would sing this to him. Sometimes when neither one of them could sleep they'd sing this as a lullaby and fall asleep in minutes. That's one of the things he's always loved about Blaine, he has this ability to sooth and calm Kurt when no one else can.

Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood,

Miss 'No way, it's all good', it didn't slow me down.

Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated,

Look I'm still around

Pretty, pretty please,

Don't you ever, ever feel.

Like you're less than, less than perfect.

Pretty, pretty please,

If you ever, ever feel.

Like you're nothing,

You are perfect to me.

He closed his eyes and smiled. Kurt knew that angelic voice anywhere. He continued to play the notes and sing with the boy who gave the song meaning for him.

You're so mean, when you talk,

About yourself, you are wrong.

Change the voices, in your head,

Make them like you instead.

So complicated, look how big you'll make it,

Filled with so much hatred, such a tired game.

It's enough, I've done all I can think of,

Chased down all my demons, see you do the same.

Kurt opened his eyes to Blaine gazing at him lovingly from the other side of the piano, swaying to the music. He stepped with the beat towards the bench and squatted down next to Kurt laying a gentle hand on the small of his back.

Pretty, pretty please,

Don't you ever, ever feel.

Like you're less than,

Less than perfect.

Pretty, pretty please,

If you ever, ever feel.

Like you're nothing,

You are perfect.

Blaine hopped up from the bench and scurried to the center of the room. Kurt giggled knowing how excited he gets for this particular part of the song.

The whole world scared so I swallow the fear,

The only thing I should be drinking is an ice, cold beer.

So cool in line and we try, try, try,

But we try too hard it's a waste of my time.

Done looking for the critics cause they're everywhere,

They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair.

Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time.

Why do we do that?

Why do I do that?

Why do I do that?

"Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhh!" Blaine sang at the top of his lungs, dancing his way back behind the piano across from Kurt.

Pretty, pretty please,

Don't you ever, ever feel.

Like you're less than,

Less than perfect.

Pretty, pretty please,

If you ever, ever feel.

Like you're nothing,

You are perfect to me.

"You're perfect!" Blaine sang to Kurt reaching his arms out to him.

"You're perfect to me!" Kurt sang in reply, winking.

Pretty, pretty please,

Don't you ever, ever feel.

Like you're nothing,

You are perfect to me.

Kurt finished playing the last few notes as the song came to a close. For a while they both just stared at each other trying to catch their breath until Blaine broke the silence.

"Why are you in here singing all by yourself?" He asked curiously.

"I wasn't all by myself, you were here singing too."

"You know what I mean." Blaine said, slowly walking back over to the bench to sit next to Kurt.

"Just...reminiscencing the past three years. What are you doing here anyway?"

"I was waiting outside by your car after the party to see if you wanted to hang out but when you didn't come out I got worried."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I lost track of time." Blaine just shrugged and scotted closer to Kurt. He leaned his head on his shoulder and wrapped his arm around his waist. "It really doesn't seem possible that we're going to be graduating in a few weeks. It feels like just yesterday I auditioned for glee and we were all terrible. Now we've won a trophy for best glee club in the country and most of us will be gone next year...I don't know where the time went."

"Time flies when you're having fun."

"I can't say the sophmore me who was being slushied and thrown into dumpsters every day would agree with you." Blaine chuckled and started rubbing soothing circles on Kurts hip with his thumb. Kurt took a deep breath feeling nervous about confessing to Blaine what was on his mind.

"Blaine...I'm scared."

"Why are you scared?"

"What if...What if the whole long distance thing doesn't work." He stopped tracing circles and sat up straight.

"What do you mean? Of course it will work." Kurt stood up and anxiously paced around the room.

"No, but, what if it all becomes too much? We say it will be fine now but what happens when I'm actually gone? We won't be able to see each other every day like we're used to and then we'll probably drift apart and you'll meet someone else, someone who can always be with you and you'll fall in love with him and it'll be as if we never happened." Blaine stared at him, a mixture of shock and pain etched on his face. Kurt crossed his arms and looked away trying to keep the tears from falling.

"Do you honestly have that little faith in me to think that I could just forget you like that?"

"No that's not what I me-"

"No just listen." Blaine rose from the bench, crossed the room and stood right infront of Kurt. "I would never leave you. Never. Whether you're in New York or not I don't care. It doesn't matter how far apart we are because what we have Kurt, it's special and it's true. It's love. Before I met you all I had was a blazer and a school that closed me off from the outside world. My parents didn't care, Cooper was doing god-knows-what in California and I was alone. Or atleast I felt it. The day I met you on that staircase was the best day of my life. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on you that you were something special and unique, that you were this perfect thing that I needed in my life. Yeah, I messed up along the way but Kurt...I've been in love with you since that very first moment...It just took me a while to realize it and I was somehow lucky enough that you felt the same way. But I know now that that day, when you came to spy on us and you just so happened to introduce yourself to me, that wasn't a coincidence. It was fate...You're my soulmate Kurt and I will never, ever give up on you. You make me want to be a better person. You took me from the confined walls of Dalton and showed me the world and all its beauty. I'm forever indebted to you for helping me realize everything that I want and everything that I want to be. I'm in love with you Kurt, nothing and no one will ever change that." He didn't know when he started crying but once Blaine had finished he was bawling. Kurt threw himself into his arms and realized Blaine was crying too. "Do you believe that I'll never leave you now?" Kurt smiled through the tears and nodded into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around Blaines neck and he slid his arms around Kurts waist.

"I'm never saying goodbye to you." Blaine pressed a kiss to his head and they both pulled away slightly to look at each other. Kurt wiped a stray tear from Blaines warm cheek and leaned in to kiss away the other boys saddness. The familiar taste of Blaine filled him with warmth and relief. His tounge slid into Kurts mouth and he never wanted to pull away from those soft lips and that cool breath. Kurt took Blaines hands and entwined their fingers. He pulled away first though because as much as he might have believed it.

He would never really be saying goodbye to Blaine.
