Author's Notes: Doctor Who AU. Doctor!Blaine and Companion!Kurt.
The Doctor blinked slowly, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his palms. His surroundings grew clearer as the warm blanket of sleep withdrew. Yawning and stretching, he got out of his bed.
Padding slowly over to Kurt's bedroom, he noticed that the door stood slightly ajar, the weak, watery sunlight - or was it moonlight? - peeking through it. The Doctor pushed the door open softly, wincing when a creak escaped from the hinges. The Doctor - a man who fought aliens and protected planets from danger was terrified of a teenage boy. But Kurt Hummel was no ordinary teenage boy in the morning - if you woke him up before his normal schedule, expect to have your head bitten off. Almost quite literally.
Glancing through the door, which now hung wide open, he saw that the bedclothes sat rumpled atop of the queen sized mattress.Panic shot through the Doctor, immediately fearing the worst because for the many months he had traveled with him, he had never known Kurt to wake up earlier than him.
Sprinting through the maze that was the TARDIS, he screamed Kurt's name repeatedly, never recieving an answer. He had checked almost every room in the TARDIS before he slid into the library. As he turned the corner on one of the many floor-to-ceiling shves of books, he crashed into a soft yet solid object.
'Kurt! Have you seen Kurt around-' he paused, realising who he was speaking to. '-here? Oh. Hi, Kurt.'
'Good morning to you, too, Doctor.' Kurt's face was bemused, wondering what had happened to his silly old Doctor this time.
'I-I woke up and you weren't in your room. Your bed was all messed up, so I assumed that you were in danger of some sort!'
Kurt, smiling, explained his absence, 'I woke up early, so I thought I'd explore the rooms for a bit today. I guess the library sucked me in for longer than I thought.'
'Oh. Oh, right. Just… don't ever do that again! I thought you'd been taken by some freaky alien race to be worshipped or something.' the Doctor mumbled, a blush slowly creeping up his face.
Kurt laughed and, surprising even himself, reached out to the Doctor and held him in a tight hug. The Doctor's head rested in the crook of Kurt's neck and his hands around the taller boy's waist. Kurt sighed, feeling comforted by this embrace, never wanting to let go. And for the first time in many years, the Doctor felt like he was home.
