Tip. Tip. Tip.
Blaine looked at the window as the rain kept falling lightly and tapping against it.
He was sitting on the comfy armchair in the living room of his and Kurt's apartment with a warm blanket on his legs. He could hear Kurt walking around in their bedroom and wondered how long it would be before Kurt had to go out.
After ten minutes Kurt walked out of the bedroom and went towards Blaine, leaving a quick kiss on his lips.
Kurt had already a hand on the doorknob when Blaine gathered enough courage to call out with a timid voice.
"Kurt?" the tall boy turned around and glanced at his boyfriend with a confused face.
"You'll be fine, right?" at Kurt's anguished look, Blaine couldn't help but bite his lip -a habit he took from the blue eyed boy.
"Please tell me you'll be fine. Promise me"
Kurt sighed and couldn't help the pity he felt clench his stomach. He knew how hard it was for Blaine. Staying at home worrying and wondering if his boyfriend was going to come back in one piece or come back at all. He usually reassured Blaine that he was going to be ok, that he was worrying too much but he knew this time was different. He could do nothing to soothe the handsome boy's worries because they were justified. Kurt didn't know if he was going to make it out alive this time... and it killed him to be the cause of Blaine's pain.
In a swift move Kurt crossed the room and engulfed the boy in a tight hug. Blaine immediately wrapped his arms around Kurt middle before trailing them up his back as if assuring himself that Kurt was still there at least yet, before fisting his hands in the fabric of Kurt's coat. Kurt just tightened his grip around his shoulders and closed his eyes. If he had any say in this then he was absolutely going to come back to Blaine's loving arms.
Kurt broke the embrace and tugged a loose curl behind Blaine's ear, smiling sadly when he saw the unshed tears in the younger boy's eyes. He cupped his cheek and kissed him sweetly. Blaine melted into the kiss and wanted so bad to let the tears fall and beg Kurt to stay, but he knew it would be unfair towards Kurt. He was going out, risking his life, to save the city and probably the entire country if not whole the world. It was, however, really hard to stay home and not think about the chance of his boyfriend being smashed against a brick wall and lying dead on the dirty pavement of a cold night.
Kurt was the first to pull away and, with a last squeeze at Blaine's arm, he stepped back and walked out of the door. Blaine stayed still for a while, eyes shut tightly and heart aching, then he heaved out a breath and slowly walked over to the sofa. He took the warm blanket he had previously discarded on the floor and immediately turned on the TV on the news channel. He sighed when he saw the reporter, a tall blonde girl, already talking about the "battle of the century".
Blaine looked out of the window again, letting the small droplets of rain falling on the window calm him down lightly. It was going to be a long night.
