Goodbye My Lover

This literally just came into my mind as I was listening to the beautifully tragic song "Goodbye My Lover" sung by James Blunt. Blaine came to drop Kurt off at the airport and is saying his last goodbye, but only for a little white.

Kurt's giant suitcase slowly rolled behind him and Blaine as they walked up to the security and baggage check. A sign read 'ONLY TRAVELERS BEYOND THIS POINT.'
Blaine felt his heart drop a little. He wasn't ready for this. He wasn't ready for this at all. He thought he would be but he has been lying to himself all summer.

Kurt turned around to face Blaine. His dad was already in New York with Rachel's father's setting up their apartment for them, so it was just him and Blaine.

"Blaine-" Kurt placed a warm hand on Blaine's cheek. He wiped away a falling tear with his thumb, "Blaine come here."
He pulled him into a tight hug. One of those hugs when neither of you want to let go, but you know you'll have to.

"Kurt, I can't do this. Ohmygod I can't do this, Kurt I-" Blaine said into Kurt's chest. He held in a huge sob.
"Blaine." Was all Kurt could manage to say. He wanted to say so much but he couldn't even remember anymore.

"I know you have to go now, and I want you to, but I... I want you to stay and I just don't know what to do." Blaine looked at the floor and whimpered. He quickly wiped away more falling tears. "I uh- actually prepared a little s-something for you."

Kurt's face brightened a bit. It always did when his boyfriend of over a year was going to sing a song for him.

Blaine cleared his voice. *LISTEN TO SONG*

"Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend." In the last chorus Blaine changed the lyrics, "You ARE the one. You ARE the one for me. I'm so hollow baby, I'm h-hollow. I'm so... so..." Blaine broke down in tears. "I'm so sorry." He buried his face into his hands.

Kurt rushed over to Blaine and held him in his arms, "You're the love on my life, Blaine. I love you so much." Kurt whispered into Blaine's ear and tears began rolling down his own cheeks, "I love you Blaine, my God I love you so much. I can't say it enough."

"Kurt I love you so much. Please, please don't forget me Kurt. Please?" Blaine's voice cracked, making Kurt's heart break into a thousand pieces.

"I'll never forget you. I promise, I could never forget someone like you Blaine. You've saved me." Kurt kissed Blaine's cheeks softly.

Blaine looked up at his beautiful boyfriend, "You've saved me too Kurt. In every way a person can be saved." He'd stopped crying but remaining tears where still on his face.

Kurt smiled lightly, "Look at us." He chuckled. They were in the middle of the airport kneeling on the floor holding each other like no tomorrow and sobbing.

Blaine burst into a soft giggle, "We look ridiculous." He wrinkled his noise.

They stood together, not letting go. They starred into each other's eyes for a few moments.

"It's time for me to go." Kurt whispered.

Blaine softly nodded, "Okay."

"This isn't goodbye. Remember?" Kurt looked into his boyfriends teary eyes.

"I'm never saying goodbye to you." Blaine smiled and nodded.

Kurt ran his fingers through Blaine's gel-less soft curls and kissed him. It had to be their most deep, passionate kiss they've ever shared, and it ended too quickly.

"I'll skype you right when I get to my apartment." Kurt let his hand linger on Blaine's cheek.

Blaine reached up to touch Kurt's soft hand on his damp cheek, "You'd better, love."

"Promise." Kurt gave him a kiss on the cheek, "I love you, Blaine.

"I love you too, Kurt." He felt the sting of tears coming from behind his eyes, "I'll see you soon."

Kurt nodded and smiled. He turned around and didn't look back, afraid he wouldn't be able to do it. That he'd go running back, as much as he really wanted to.

Blaine watched the love of his life go off without him. But it was okay, it was just for a little while.
End Notes: Thanks so much for reading!
