Kurt watched Blaine as he slept, finding himself drawing soft patterns along the shorter boy's collar bone. There was so much he wished he could say, so many emotions that sped through his head, his body but most importantly Kurt's heart. Every time Blaine was present Kurt could hardly find time to breath in between loving the boy who was growing into a man right along side him and wondering just How he got the hazel eyes to look at him as anything else besides friendship.
"I love you." Blaine whispered with out opening his eyes, a small smile on his lips.Kurt could say it all now. He could tell Blaine about the crazy swoop of his heart, or how he wished that for every second of every day he could be there to remind Blaine that Kurt was completely his but as Kurt's mouth opened he found himself uttering four small words that said everything but not nearly enough.
"I love you too."
Disappointment. That was what Kurt felt as the beautiful words tumbled from his mouth in a hushed whisper earning him a groan of approval and then Blaine was back to sleeping. He had never grown up with much affection, his father being a burly man who even in his most emotional moment was still awkward this his body, and although Kurt yearned to be so free with the fragile organ in his chest he never truly could stop the fear of breaking.
Maybe it had to do with not having a mother around to communicate emotions with or maybe it was just that Kurt was an awkward person in general made up of too many limbs and to lanky of a body but whatever it was it always made him seem as if he never cared as much but no one ever took the time to see the ocean like eyes with the deepest drop. There was so much that Kurt was use to hiding that small emotions were so hard to push out even making the small flutter of his fingers on the tanned chest of his boyfriend a task. Kurt felt to much, way too much. His heart was always aching and yearning and loving but he had spent so much time as an outcast that words and actions came to him in very little dosages.
Blaine was different, Blaine had eyes that never seemed to stop telling stories. Despite his troubled past, Blaine had friends through high school and had learned to adapt with not having caring parents by allowing other people to mentor him. Blaine had grown up so expressive and free. Until Blaine truly realized he was gay he had a mother who combed the knotts out of his curls and cut his sandwiches just right and picked his clothes out for him. Blaine could tell Kurt how much he cared in a million different ways with out even speaking a word.
And then there was Kurt, who had so much to say, so much to show and yet he stood starring at a brick wall wondering how to climb over it. The soft prick of tears brought the pale hand to Blaine's forehead where a few curls sat ungelled, a thin finger finding its self lost in the center of the loops. Kurt knew that Blaine saw what other people didn't, he saw the struggle that fought deep in Kurt's chest as he tried to pull the scar tissue away from the locks surrounding his feelings. Blaine saw the gentle touches and longing stares for what they were and what they meant. Blaine knew that it would take time for Kurt to push past the habit of thinking for himself and feeling for himself before he could finally say all the words that had been sitting so painfully in the Kurt's throat. Blaine saw what no one else could, the love that Kurt felt. The way Kurt's heart stretched and grew at just the very sight of Blaine and even when the pale boy was throwing stiff comments as they held each other, Blaine knew it was because it was Kurt's natural defense against touching seeing as the majority of physical contact had been painful. Blaine saw it all and that was why Kurt loved the curly haired boy-man next to him.
"Blaine?"
"Hmm?" Blaine's pink tongue did a quick sweep across his dry lips, eyes still closed.
"I..I want to tell you something." There was a pause before the brown eyes popped open in a series of blinks and shifted over to take in Kurt's face.
"Kurt?" The hazel washed over every inch of skin and read every part of Kurt's body before sitting up and taking a thin hand into his. "Okay."
Blaine would always see Kurt best. Other people instantly assumed that Blaine was more involved with the relationship than Kurt but Blaine would never believe it, wouldn't even hear of it because the blue eyed boy in front of him had given Blaine the most valuable thing he owned, his heart and if anyone knew Kurt then they knew Blaine was Kurt's everything.
