Songs to Use to Get Kurt Back
"My name is Blaine Anderson and I hope you don't mind if I sing a couple of songs this evening...."

It was something they planned to do together—Kurt and Santana ("I do not want to over exert myself or increase my chances of getting sick, guys, I am still waiting to hear back from my Funny Girl call back," Rachel informed them)—for a bit of a Friday night wind-down and good time. Kurt had a bit of a rough week and so was looking forward to a relaxing, stress-free time. Kurt told his companion this as the two walked towards the subway station. Santana just sighed and linked her arm through his. "I bet you are, lady lips. I bet you are..."

They had only been at Callbacks for 20 minutes, still on their first round of drinks when it happened. It was still early so no one had commandeered the small stage yet, which is surprising for NYADA students but Kurt didn't try to question it too much. He was immersed in a polite conversation with one of his classmates and heard someone press a few chords on the piano, testing the tuning. This sound only registered at the back of his mind, along with the sound of a throat clearing through the mic.
"Hello, everyone." The person at the piano said. Kurt's eyes went wide. He could recognise that voice from anywhere. Heck, he had heard it through his phone a couple of hours ago, but that's not possible, he thought, he was in Ohio, it can't be—
"My name is Blaine Anderson and I hope you don't mind if I sing a couple of songs this evening..." Blaine introduced confidently, crowd voice on, still tinkering with the keys—a chord progression here, the beginning of Fur Elise there...
Kurt spun away from his classmate and stared, shocked at the stage. And there he was, Blaine Anderson, in the flesh looking as dreamy as ever. Kurt looked in disbelief and intrigue as the other boy caught his eye and gave him a small smile.
"While I know this is a popular place for NYADA students, I am but a hopeful," he laughed nervously—a low trill—"My audition is coming up soon so wish me luck guys" he added as a side note. A few people in the bar laughed but others rolled their eyes or weren't paying him any attention. In normal circumstance Kurt would have smirked, too, but he couldn't because he was too mesmerised by this boy, Blaine, sitting at that piano and playing the crowd. He was happy, he was confident, he was performing.
Despite their...relations, on Valentine's Day, the pair had become best friends again. But that was all they were, just friends. Kurt was proud of the relationship they have right now. Kurt was starting to trust him again, but he still wasn't sure if he could let Blaine in completely again.
Maybe.
"Anyway, the reason why I'm here" –a light trill—"is because I have a few things to say to someone very, very special and dear to me."—a couple bars of My Man from Funny Girl—"He is here tonight and he knows who he is, so darling, this is for you."
Kurt sat up straight, intrigued, because yeah, he knew he is it. Santana who sat at his right smiled at him, taking his hand.
"You knew about this, didn't you?" he accused, glancing at Santana.
"I may have had something to do with it..." she smirked.
"Why didn't you tell me?!"
"Oh don't get your panties in a twist. He wanted to do this, so I helped him out." She replied with a shrug. "Now quit your yapping and watch Gay Frodo, ok?" He huffed slightly and turned back towards the stage.
Blaine then started to sing, and some people in the crowd was interested at first, intrigued about who this NYADA hopeful was, sizing him up, seeing if he was any competition. But all Kurt could do is sit, and listen, to the voice that had become so familiar to him like it was his own. His voice was passionate, his playing was upbeat. Their eyes caught a few times, Kurt's never leaving the sight of Blaine before him, and Blaine's switching from the keys to Kurt's.
Kurt knew what he was doing. "Oh, Blaine..." he thought.
Oh, baby give me one more chance
won't you please let me, back in your heart
The song ended and there was a polite smattering of applause. Blaine smiled and nodded a thank-you to the audience, launching into the next song.
Santana muttered an "of-freaking-course". Kurt bit back a laugh. Of-freaking-course he would sing this song. It was just so... Blaine. Oblivious and adorkable Blaine.
I can't see me lovin' nobody but you,
for all my life...
As Blaine played, he smiled widely at Kurt, shoulders bopping, lively. Kurt laughed and shook his head fondly. Of-freaking-course.
"So happy together..."the singer crooned, closing the song, dragging the note out. When silence fell, Kurt clapped with the rest of the crowd, raising and eyebrow when Blaine looked to him for approval. Hazel eyes twinkled and the darker haired boy looked down, smiling at the piano keys.
"So this is traditionally played on guitar, but hopefully it sounds alright..."
Kurt bit his lip slightly, and swayed to the beat. His fingers tapped on the table to the beat.
I belong with you
you belong with me
you're my sweetheart.
He loved this song and he would be kidding himself if he didn't think of Blaine whenever he heard it, too, even though it used to pain him. Oh, Blaine...
"Thank you," Blaine said when the song finished. "This is my last one... it's a bit slower than the others, and I mean every word."
The opening chords were played, and Kurt's breath caught in his throat. He squeezed Santana's hand.
You've been on my mind
I grow fonder every day
Blaine's eyes shone, and Kurt thought back to the last time Blaine was in this same position, the last time he heard him sing with such raw emotion. Back then he was thrilled to have Blaine here, in New York with him. But little did he know the real reason as to why Blaine was crying.
But now, this was not a goodbye. This was not an I'm a terrible person.
This was a you are mine. Let me be yours.
He pounded the notes, his eyes closed, feeling the song, soaking up the song, and if anyone had asked Kurt at that moment, he would swear that Blaine's version was better than Adele's herself.
I dare you to let me be,
your one and only...
The song slowed, Blaine's voice faded out, eyes concentrated on the keys until the lyrics came in again. His hazel eyes flicked up to meet Kurt's, and they stayed there. Kurt swiped a tear out from the corner of his eye, but held his gaze.
I know, it ain't easy,
giving up your heart
Santana joined in with the backing, her smooth and husky voice filling Kurt's ear, along with Blaine's.
Nobody's perfect...
trust me I've learned it...
And Kurt knew. He looked in her eyes, and he could tell she was thinking about Brittany. The girl she loves who is no longer hers.
So come on and give me the chance,
to prove that I'm the one that can,
to walk that mile
until the end starts
The song ends and the crowd erupts, some even bold enough to give a standing ovation. Kurt swiped the tears that were falling down his cheek and clapped to. Blaine's eyes never leaving his.
When the cheers died down, Blaine's hands folded in his lap, he leaned towards the microphone.
"So uh, that's basically it, but before I go, I'd just like to do one more thing... Kurt," Blaine said softly, flicking his eyes up to the boy in question. "Will you join me up here for a moment, please?"
Kurt couldn't move, until Santana grabbed his wrist and pulled him up from his chair, pushing him forward.
"Thank you" he said quietly to her as he walked towards his best friend, the singer of his serenade. When he reached Blaine, the pianist stood up and took both of Kurt's hands in his.
"Hi," he said shyly. Kurt raised his eye-brow amusedly.
"Hi."
Blaine took a deep breath, and started his speech. "Kurt, I am here tonight because I have had enough of this dancing around. I am here, fighting for you, because no matter how much you say it, I don't want to be just friends, and I know you don't, too. I know I hurt you real bad, and you know that I am sorry. I am here, to make a grand gesture, to win you back, to convince you to start to trust me again, because you are the love of my life, Kurt. My soulmate, my heart, my everything, and there will never be anyone else but you. I've tried, you've tried, and you know in your heart that I'm it for you, too." He squeezed the taller boy's hands as a tear slid down Kurt's rosy cheek. Blaine sank down onto one knee and the audience gasped collectively.
"Kurt Elizabeth Hummel," Kurt's eyes widened. "Will you do me the honours of going out with me tomorrow, not as friends, but as a couple: as soul mates re-discovering each other? Will you be mine again?" Blaine asked, looking up hopefully.
Kurt nearly said no. He thought back to the pain of Blaine's betrayal, the pain of losing him and he was still a little sore from it. They were friends again. Best friends, and he didn't want to ruin that, but he knew deep down that he could no longer run. His defences were wearing thin, and there was only one thing left to do.
He let him back in.
"Yes." He breathed and the smile Blaine gave him in return was blinding. The two laughed and Blaine jumped up, connecting their lips immediately. Arms wrapped around bodies and souls entwined, lips moved passionately, letting out every ounce of love that had been held back, that had been lost, letting the other one know that they were there, and that love is love is loves is love.
They pulled away and rested their foreheads together. The roar of the cheering crowd was faint, ignored, because in each other's arms they held their love, and it was perfect.
"You said 'yes'" Blaine breathed. Kurt smiled, nodding and pecking the shorter boy's lips.
"Our love was lost..." the taller sung softly.
"But now we've found it." Blaine joined in.
It wasn't the proposal that Blaine had been working up about, the ring he brought stored safely in hi sock drawer in Ohio. It wasn't an engagement, but to them, it might as well have been.
You put your arms around me and I'm home.
