Author's Notes: A beautiful light has left this world a little brighter. Aside from being a Klaine fan Finn was another of my favourite characters and since hearing of the sad passing of the great Cory Monteith I had to write this for him and his character. He, the actor and man, was a special person who lit up many lives with the same thing as his character, his heart and that's where this story comes from. Triggers and yes it's a funeral scene, I tried writing more and couldn't. The quote above, the poem in the chapter notes and the poem at the end are by me. I wrote the poem for another story, a Stargate sg1 one after Don S Davis died and felt it was more than fitting here. If this hurts/troubles/upsets you, for everything above don't read it. Stars shine in heaven for a man who left as he came inquiet, loved and believing miracles can happenand they fallfor the man that made miracles happen.RIP Cory Monteith 1982-2013

As a teenager Finn would sit on the couch arguing with Kurt, Blaine and Puck about who really won that round of Mario Kart, usually Kurt won.

As an adult he watched his world change, grow, change again and grow further.

All of this was done with one thing. Heart.

The day was dark, black clouds loomed over the cemetery in Lima, over the last resting place of Finn Hudson. Tears flowed as people made their way, leaving words and flowers for the departed young man who'd touched their lives.

Kurt finally took a breath and stood up as Blaine squeezed his hand. He walked up to the grave and looked at the people he loved, the people that loved Finn. "Finn Hudson was many things to me over my life. When I was younger he was the boy that did the same as all the other boys, never really understanding why. As we grew he changed into a friend, then a brother. I always admired Finn, he was an amazing person. He was loyal, brave, caring, loving, honest and passionate. Finn didn't make decisions based on logic, on what others thought best or fact. He made them based on heart. He believed in humanity and doing the right thing, even if he wasn't sure what that was. Finn was never wrong. He believed and what he believed made him who he was, so whatever choice he made he could never be wrong. Finn was...He was my brother, my friend. We knew each other and believed in each other. He had a beautiful soul, one that lit up many people's lives. He always thought of others. He wanted to change the way his father was seen by the military and when that didn't work he decided to join the army to make his dad proud and repair the Hudson name. He wanted to marry Rachel because they were in love, then he let her go because it was best for her. He became Mr Schue's assistant because Mr Schue asked him and he wanted to help his friends enjoy their Glee club and gain another state championship then he went to university to become a teacher and change lives. Change. Finn saw what was in the world and looked to help, to heal, to change. I looked up to him, I was proud of him; he was one of my favourite people. He left a light here when he left and it will never go out because we won't forget him. He helped us, he healed us, he watched over us, he was our friend, our idol, our confidant, our mentor, our Finn and we will miss him."

The funeral and wake was well over. Puck, Kurt and Blaine sat on the floor of the den in the Hummel-Hudson house watching each other and listening to the quiet sounds of Carole and Rachel trading memories of Finn and tears.

"That was amazing what you said today." Puck whispered.

"I just spoke the truth." Kurt whispered back.

"Do you remember when we were planning to ambush you into studying for your finals and we sang The Rain In Spain at three in the morning? " Blaine whispers to Puck, Kurt smiling at the memory of being told.

"Ohh yeah. What was that thing on the board you were hiding behind?" Puck asks.

"A bush." Blaine replies, sniggering quietly.

"Looked like a bear," Puck mumbles and the three men burst into quiet laughter. "Man," Puck sighs. "He was awesome."

"He was." Kurt and Blaine say at the same time and lean over to toast with Puck.

Puck sighs and looks around. "So what do we do now?"

They all look at each other contemplatively then Kurt smiles. "Let's change the world."

~In the years that pass you will be a memory
and what we had will fade into the past
it will be written in the dusty tomes of years ago
where golden days and blue-skied pasts dwell
you will be remembered
the pages of these tomes where you are written
will be read
to me you were a man
to others you were a legend
a better man than many, where others feared
you dared to be and rose to glory in their eyes
you were once a hero
to many you will be forever
but to those blessed few who knew you
you will always be a man
a man who lit up their lives
and left the light on when you left~

End Notes: Yeah, so, that happened. The poem was obviously more to Cory than Finn.I hope you enjoyed, or at least appreciated my little tribute to a great man and character.

*hugs you* Thank you and me too, all of us do.

I really needed this. I think everyone should have some kind of closure. The character of Finn was one that I really looked up to. He was confused about what to do with his future and yet he always did what made him and others happy. He had heart. The feelin of being lost is something I'm feeling now and knowing this character has overcome so much makes me hope. RIP Cory

Thank you and I'm glad I helped you too. Yes I totally agree with that, we all need to get our feelings out somehow and luckily I have writing cos I suck at drawing and singing. I know what you mean about Finn too, I look at him and relate with him in the same way, I think we all can and tbh I saw Cory a little like that too. He was unsure of his life at times and where it was headed and sadly the old demons never truly left him alone but that doesn't mean others can't win.

Thank you and I did that after you said it and omg. I've been listening to Leona Lewis' Yesterday a lot and skipping over my Glee albums, not quite ready to hear Cory again yet.

Omg, so cute, so sad, especially if you're listening to Pandora and Glee's version of "Totall Eclipse of the Heart" plays and then you hear Cory's part... :'(

A lovely tribute!
