Blaine smiled as he looked out at the audience from behind the curtain--parents mostly, all waiting for the recital to start. Kurt was backstage helping girls fix their pigtails and boys to straighten their ties. Every year the school had a talent show at the end of the year so the kids could show off their progress. It was Blaine’s first year teaching, but he was left in charge. Getting the whole thing together had been tough, organizing a mass of second and third graders was no easy task. Kurt had been wonderful with them and the kids were actually pretty well behaved, and by the time the day had rolled around everyone was bubbling with excitement.
Blaine focused in on a couple in the front row whom he recognized, Addie’s parents--Katie and Jason. Addie was an adorable little girl with dark ringlets, dark eyes and skin the color of coffee. SHe was smart as a whip with a beautiful voice, especially for only being seven. SHe had been overjoyed when Blaine helped her pick a song for the show, but nowhere so as her parents. Jason had a camcorder set up, Katie had a bouquet of roses. ON either side there were older couples who Blaine thought were the grandparents. All of them looked so proud, and from what Blaine could see one of the older men was wearing a shirt that said, “I heart Addie.”
Blaine chuckled to himself and felt arms wrap around him from behind and a chin hook over his shoulder, “What’s funny?” Kurt said softly. Blaine brought one of KUrt’s hands up and pressed a kiss to the palm, “That.” He pointed to Addie’s entourage in the front row, “I want that Kurt. With you.” His eyes got a little glassy, “The recitals and practices and games and all the grandparents and everything. All of it.” Kurt chuckled and kissed his husband’s cheek, “You want a kid?” Blaine nodded. Kurt nuzzled Blaine’s neck, “I want one too.” Blaine leaned back into Kurt’s embrace, “Yay!”
“And Kurt?”
“Yeah Blaine?”
“We can teach them to sing and dance and play an instrument and you can teach them to draw and if they want I could teach them how to play football and--”
Kurt laughed, “Whoa. Slow down there babe. Let’s get this show on the road first.”
Blaine pouted a little, “Alllllright.”
Kurt giggled and shoved Blaine towards the stage to introduce the first act, “We’ll do it babe. All of it. Just, this first.”
