Three days later Kurt and Blaine are standing in Aria’s bedroom watching her sleep, her lower lip puckered out just a little bit as she garbles in her sleep. Kurt whispers in Blaine’s ear, “She has your curls.” Blaine shakes his head, “It’s your color.” Kurt smiles, “Your nose too.” Blaine grins, “You think so?” Kurt nods and Blaine turns away from their sleeping daughter to face Kurt, “You know who’s nose I’ve got?” Kurt looks confused for a moment and then Blaine reaches up to grab his nose and pull him closer to eye level, “Yours.” Kurt giggles, then tries to giggle quieter. Blaine smiles and kissed Kurt.

Standing there, kissing in their daughter’s bedroom, that’s the closest they’ve been in four days. The kiss deepens and Blaine works his tongue into Kurt’s mouth, sucking on his tongue, just the way Kurt likes it. With a loud sucking noise, Blaine moves down from Kurt’s mouth, along his jaw bone, down his neck to a special spot on his collar bone, that only Blaine can ever kiss in just the right fashion. Blaine swirls his tongue and sucks the spot, gives it a little nip, and causes Kurt to yelp. Blaine laughs. Then the baby cries and they jump apart, both rushing to scoop her up.

Kurt swaddles her in his arms and starts rocking her nice and slow. He hums a little tune and she stops fussing, just stares really deeply, far more alert than any newborn should ever be. Blaine stands at Kurt’s shoulder, petting softly at her shoulder, rubbing back and forth, then singing softly, “Heart beats fast, colors and promises, how to be brave. How can I love when I’m afraid to fall?” Kurt smiles at his husband and then his daughter and picks it up from Blaine, “But watching you stand alone all of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow. One step closer.” Blaine joins in and studies Aria’s face, trying to freeze this moment in his head for all of eternity, “I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling don’t be afraid, I have loved for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more.” Blaine drops out and Kurt continues on, “Time stands still, beauty in all she is, I will be brave I will not let anything take away what’s standing front of me, every breath, every hour has come to this.” Blaine squeezed Kurt’s shoulder and joins in once more, “One step closer, I have died every waiting for you darling don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more,” Then Kurt drops out and lets Blaine take the lead, “All along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more.” Kurt joins in as the song comes to a close, “One step closer, one step closer, I have died everyday waiting for you, darling don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more.” With the ending line of the song Aria’s newborn-blue eyes fall close and Kurt’s able to lay her back to the crib.

He turns to Blaine and says in a very quiet purr, “Do you think we can continue this in the living room? Only a little quieter?” Blaine rolls his eyes, “You’re the one who yelped and woke her up.” Kurt drags Blaine from Aria’s room and throws him onto the couch, “You have two choices here, you and I can rut and murmur dirty things until we come in our pants, or you can keep talking about who’s fault it was that Aria woke up until we’re blue in the face. Your choice.” Blaine breathlessly replies, “I like our first option.” Kurt leans in to start sucking a hickey on to Blaine’s neck, not caring whether or not the collar of his shirt will hide it when he returns to work from his week long sabbatical. Before he begins another one Kurt whispers, “Good choice.”
