"Kurt, honey, can you please just open your eyes," Blaine asks softly, squeezing Kurt's hand in his own. It's only Kurt's second time being on a plane and Blaine hadn't realized the full extent of which Kurt was... unfamiliar with the experience. Unfamiliar is putting it lightly, actually.
Kurt was perfectly fine until they sat down in their seats. Blaine thought it would be a good idea to let Kurt have the window seat, thinking that he'd rather not sit next to a stranger and that maybe the view would distract him.
The first half had turned out to be true but if he can't even get Kurt to open his eyes then the latter part is going to be more difficult to achieve.
Kurt shakes his head stubbornly, eyes closed tightly as he grips Blaine's hand.
"How did you ever manage through the flight last time?" Blaine asks, hoping for a little help here.
"Slept," is all Kurt answers with.
Of course. Blaine sighs and cranes to look out the window again.
"Kurt, please open your eyes and look out the window. You can't even tell how high up we are," he adds just to help reassure Kurt.
"We're above the clouds, Blaine. I think that means something," Kurt says curtly, but unable to keep from blinking at Blaine for a second as he answers.
"You won't regret it," Blaine cajoles, moving his hand up to cup the side of Kurt's face. He gently smoothes his thumb over Kurt's cheek and gives the hand in his a squeeze.
"If I throw up you can't complain or judge me for it or even say anything," Kurt protests, finally opening his eyes to look at Blaine.
"I wouldn't anyway," Blaine laughs. "Now, please, just look," he grips Kurt's chin and angles it toward the window.
Kurt's answering gasp is enough to satisfy Blaine.
The setting sun has cast the sky in hues of pink, orange, and small streaks of blue. The golden light reflects off of the ocean of clouds just beneath in a way that makes it almost look like it's sparkling.
Blaine isn't much of a fan of flying either, but it's views like this that make it worth it. He's not so much staring at the view of the expanse of clouds anymore as he is watching the profile of Kurt's face as it's lit up not only by the rays from the setting sun but in awe, as well.
"Oh, wow, Blaine," Kurt breaks his gaze from the window to look at Blaine, "It really is beautiful."
"Told you," Blaine says as he leans in to give Kurt a kiss. "Will you watch the sun set with me?"
Kurt nods, if a little tentatively, before leaning back to rest against his boyfriend while Blaine throws an arm over Kurt's shoulders and pulls him in--the best attempt at cuddling in Economy they can do, but it's better than nothing.
"Are you excited?" Blaine whispers into Kurt's ear as he nuzzles into his neck, inhaling the comforting scent there.
"Of course," Kurt replies a little dazedly. "Though now I'm a little disappointed," he admits.
Blaine frowns a little, "Why is that?"
Kurt sighs, leaning into Blaine's warmth a little more, "Because there's no way the view from the Eiffel Tower could beat this."
