Never Again

A small snapshot of Blaine being grumpy in the morning after a night of too much drinking and Kurt being too awake for his tastes.

Blaine stares into his coffee mug, the last dregs of his second cup sitting depressing and cold at the bottom.  Its emptiness feels like a personal offense.  Blaine blinks several times, trying to will the sleep from his eyes and failing miserably.  It would not be nearly as bad if the pounding in his head would just go away.

"I'm never drinking again," he tells the empty mug.

"Well we both know that's a lie," Blaine nearly topples out of his seat as Kurt comes whirling into the kitchen, the picture of bright-eyed and bushy-tailed beauty.

It's disgusting how awake he is.

"No, I mean it this time," Blaine pushes the mug across the table, making enough room so he can rest his head on his arms against the cool surface of the wood.

"I told you that last vodka soda was a bad idea," Kurt says matter-of-factly, and Blaine raises his head enough to blearily open an eye to see Kurt leaning against the counter and pouring himself a cup of coffee.

"I'm going to need another cup of coffee to choke down that pill of ‘I told you so'," Blaine mumbles into the sleeve of his robe.

"Tetchy.  You're so grumpy when you're hungover," Kurt walks over and presses a kiss to the back of Blaine's head.  "It'd be annoying if it weren't so adorable."

"Well, here's hoping your looks go first," Blaine bites his lip to suppress his laughter and is glad Kurt can't see his face.

"You know, I told Rachel that you weren't feeling well enough this morning to join her for her usual palates-slash-vocal warm-ups, I could just pick up the phone right now..." Blaine's head snaps up and he immediately regrets that sudden movement as he watches Kurt reach for his cell on the counter.

"No.  Don't do that.  C'mere.  I'm sorry.  You're gorgeous.  Forever,"  Blaine makes pathetic grabby hands toward Kurt who mocks the motions of looking torn before his face breaks into a pitying smirk and he walks to stand between Blaine's legs in the embrace.

"Good.  Because we need to go pick out the colors for the bedroom today if we are going to get started painting this weekend," he's playing idly with the curls at the base of Blaine's neck as he talks, but it isn't enough to distract Blaine, no matter how slow he's feeling this morning.

"Kurt--"

"You promised,"  Kurt pulls back a little and fixes Blaine with a reproachful look.

Blaine can't stop himself from rolling his eyes and falling forward to rest all his weight against Kurt's stomach.  "Never again," he murmurs against him.

"Have another cup of coffee, take a shower, and be ready to debate the pros and cons of ‘herbal garden' versus ‘pepper grass,'" Kurt gives Blaine's head a few pats on the head before pulling away and grabbing his cup of coffee.

"You're not human," Blaine calls to him as he breezes back out of the kitchen.  All he hears in response in the bright sound of Kurt chuckling as he makes his way up the stairs.

Blaine stares hard at his mug sitting across from him, letting his eyes focus and unfocus and measuring the heavy feeling in his head.  He finally concedes defeat and pushes from the table, pouring his third cup of coffee and wandering through the house to find Kurt.  Maybe if he pouts enough he'll get a nap and a cuddle before they have to leave.  Usually works.

This is so perfect. I love how you managed to capture how domestic their lives could be in the future. (It's one of the reasons why Klaine is my OTP x3) But yeah, absolutely perfect! The interaction was down to a T and I find it beyond adorable that both boys could get the other doing whatever they want with a few kisses and hugs. So yeah, WELL DONE! -xoxo
