It was love at first sight.

That much was absolute. Blaine took one look into those eyes and from that point he was a complete goner. He knew he was young, but did age really matter when it came to love? Surely, Kurt would understand. Oh, right. He had to think about Kurt when it came to this sort of situation. He glanced over at his boyfriend, already pouting and flashing his big hazel eyes up at him as he prepared to argue his side of things.
“We have to get him.”

The puppy was adorable, a small chocolate brown lab with large brown eyes that just screamed ‘take me home and love me.’ He was eyeing Blaine in the same way Blaine was eyeing Kurt, and it seemed that two souls were going to be heartbroken if Blaine couldn’t get Kurt to give in.

“Blaine, no,” Kurt stated firmly, trying his best to not give in to the eyes—Blaine’s eyes, not the dog’s. “He’s cute now, but he’ll get bigger and there won’t be room for him in the apartment.”

“But, Kurt! Look at him. He’s perfect and he wants to come home with us. We’ll make him fit,” Blaine pleaded, desperately searching Kurt’s eyes for some sign of hope.

“Make him fit? Blaine,” Kurt laughed, shaking his head. “I don’t think it works like that.” Blaine was adorable and the puppy really was cute, but there was no way it’d be okay to keep that sort of dog in a New York City apartment. They’d find something eventually. A small dog that wouldn’t make the neighbors wish they had quieter neighbors.

“Kurt…” Suddenly Blaine grew more serious, and the pout disappeared as he looked Kurt straight in the eyes. “I need this dog for my happiness.”

Kurt’s laughter was not the reaction Blaine had been searching for with that strategy. “Blaine, I love you. I really do, but do you know how big and loud labs can get? He’ll be crashing through everything. We’ll both regret it, and it’ll just be messy for everyone. We’ll find a dog, I promise. Just…one that’s maybe a little smaller in size. C’mon, let’s keep looking,” he insisted, taking Blaine’s hand and tugging lightly, only to get not a single budge out of his boyfriend. “Blaine,” he started, his voice a bit firm. Blaine had just made it pretty clear that he wasn’t going to make this anything less than difficult. “Really?”

“Just think about it! You’re being so quick to turn him away, and…look how sad he looks. Kuuuurt, he doesn’t have any parents. We need to adopt him.”

Blaine normally had a way of convincing anyone of anything. He had this thing he did where he pouted his lips and made his eyes seem a lot bigger and sadder than they really were, but Kurt was stubborn and usually took a bit more convincing.

“He looks fine. If we don’t adopt him, then some little family with a backyard will, and he’ll be much happier there, don’t you think?” Kurt sounded like he was trying, but in all honesty Blaine’s puppy dog expression was melting his heart more than the actual dog himself.

Of course, after years of being completely in love with Kurt Hummel, Blaine had the boy all figured out and he wasn’t letting him off the hook that easily. “Who are you trying to convince more? Me or yourself?” A small smile threatened to twist into Blaine’s features, but for the most part his question was genuine and sincere with only a hint of smugness.

Kurt opened his mouth to speak, but Blaine was already leaning in to press a soft kiss against his lips, preventing any words of protest from slipping out. “It’s fine. There’s no rush to finding a dog. This one’s nice, but we’ll fin—“

“Blaine, stop acting like you haven’t already named it,” Kurt sighed, unable to hide the smile pulling upwards at the corners of his lips.

At those words, Blaine really did look like a puppy that just got fed scraps from the table. His hazel eyes were lit up with excitement and the triumphant smile was unmistakable.

“You’re adorable,” Kurt laughed as Blaine nearly bounced in place as he looked back and forth between Kurt and the puppy. “Absolutely ridiculous, but still very much adorable and I love you.”

“I love you too, Kurt,” Blaine grinned, leaning in to place another kiss to his boyfriend’s lips. “And Cappa loves you too.”

“Cappa?” Kurt questioned, arching a confused eyebrow. He’d been expecting something ‘original’ like Chocolate or Brownie, but Cappa he hadn’t predicted.

“Short for Cappuccino,” Blaine clarified, unable to take his eyes off their future dog.

Ah, that was the Blaine he knew and loved. “Absolutely ridiculous.”
