“Hey Kurt!” Blaine said gladly, “Nice look you got there.” Blaine chuckled at Kurt, who still stood in shock, toothbrush hanging gingerly from his slightly ajar mouth. Blaine reached up, wiping a small bit of toothpaste from Kurt’s chin with the pad of his thumb. Kurt melted at Blaine’s touch, finally taking in his company.
“Blaine!” Kurt said, unable to hide the major shock and slight confusion in his voice at his boyfriend’s impromptu arrival. “What are you doing here?” He asked, his voice going up an octave or two.
“I just wanted to drop by,” Blaine said still smiling at Kurt who blocked the entrance to the house. Blaine’s smile faded and panic started to dwell on him. “It’s not a bad time is it? I can come back later.” Blaine said, “If you want me to that is!” Blaine added hastily.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Kurt said quickly while resuming brushing his teeth, “Come in.” Kurt stepped back from the doorway, letting Blaine, whose smile spread across his face once again, into the house.
Kurt excused himself to finish brushing his teeth and left Blaine alone in the living room. He finished up and grabbed his sleeveless cardigan, all while thinking up a way to get rid of Blaine.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to see Blaine, in fact, his heart was in overdrive at the thought of them being alone together, but he had made other plans for today. Very important plans.
Kurt walked into the living room, shrugging on the cardigan and biting his lip nervously. Blaine stood at the sight of him, his smiling faltering as a silence spread over them. Blaine tilted his head to the side, his eyebrows raising in concern.
“What?” Kurt asked, picking up immediately on Blaine’s concern.
“Kurt, are you okay?” Blaine asked, “You seem kind of nervous, and if you look at the clock on the wall one more time I swear it’ll explode.” Blaine was concerned, but he also wanted to keep the air light, he didn’t want to upset Kurt anymore, seeing as he was already upset, so he smiled crookedly, joking a little with him. But he was right, even just standing in the room for a few seconds, Kurt had glanced at the clock numerous times.
“I’m fine.” Kurt said, unsure if it was a lie or not.
“Kurt,” Blaine began, approaching Kurt and taking his hands in his own, “You know you can tell me anything. And if that means you want me out of your house, well, I’ll just have to deal with that.” He ended his joke with a slight chuckle, but Kurt spoke quickly, cutting him off.
“I want you to leave.” Kurt said bluntly. Blaine’s eyes widened in shock.
“Oh.” He said, slowly dropping Kurt’s hands. “I wasn’t really expecting that.” Blaine couldn’t look into Kurt’s eyes, he felt too rejected, but still he tried to smile, and forced another chuckle. The laugh barely came out, and it sounded too wounded, Kurt could see right through Blaine’s half hearted disguise. Still Blaine kissed Kurt’s forehead, and stepped by him towards the front door his eyes still cast down toward the floor and away from Kurt, who stood like a statue.
“Wait, Blaine,” Kurt said, turning to him and grabbing tightly onto his wrist. “I didn’t mean that.” Now it was Kurt’s turn to keep his eyes away from Blaine’s. “I just,” Kurt blushed, his face getting hotter as the seconds went on, knowing that Blaine was waiting for an explanation. “I made plans and, I don’t think you’ll want to come with me.” Kurt said in a rush, blushing harder and waiting for Blaine to speak.
Kurt could feel Blaine staring at him, still waiting for Kurt to tell him his plans. Kurt looked hesitantly into Blaine’s big honey brown eyes and finally spoke. “I’m going to visit my mother.” He said quietly, “You don’t have to come.” Kurt mumbled, losing eye contact yet again.
Blaine gently put his finger under Kurt’s chin, lifting it so their gazes met. “I would love to go with you.” Blaine said, gently kissing Kurt on the lips.
Kurt drove while Blaine played with the radio, keeping the volume down low to preserve the silence that they rode in. Not an unpleasant or awkward silence, but a rather comfortable one. Somewhere along the ride, Blaine intertwined his hand with Kurt’s free hand, bringing it to his mouth and kissing his hand lightly.
The day was cooler than Kurt had expected, and he wished, as they walked towards his mother’s plot, that he had brought a scarf. Blaine walked behind Kurt, only a few paces back, taking in the scenery of the crisp autumn day.
Kurt stopped in front of a large rectangular stone. It was dark polished stone and atop it stood a heart shaped stone, also polished and shining in the sunlight, but it was a lighter color, nearly white. They stood in silence, just looking on at the stone. A few seconds passed and Blaine’s growing urge to speak finally overflowed.
“It’s a beautiful stone,” He said in a low and quiet voice, as if not wanting to startle Kurt.
“Yeah,” Kurt said, his voice cracking and Blaine could tell he was on the verge of tears. Blaine took Kurt’s hand, giving it a squeeze. Kurt turned his head away from Blaine, trying to hide his blush and using his free hand to wipe away a rouge tear. “Sorry,” Kurt said “I don’t usually cry when I come here I just, I’ve never had anyone besides my dad want to come here with me before, and,” Kurt looked at Blaine, who smiled sweetly at the boy he loved. “And she would have liked you so much.” Kurt finished speaking, his voice thick with tears.
Blaine freed Kurt’s hand, wrapping his arm around the slightly taller boy whose arms stayed cushioned between their bodies and whose head rested against Blaine’s shoulder. Blaine could feel Kurt’s hot breath come out in uneven sobs against his neck as he held him, letting Kurt’s sadness leave with his tears.
They stood there like that for quite some time. Even after Kurt stopped crying, he stood with his face nuzzled against Blaine’s neck. Taking in the feeling of acceptance and comfort that Blaine always left him with.
Blaine held Kurt’s shoulders, giving them a light squeeze and kissing his forehead before pulling away and looking into his eyes. They smiled at each other, a knowing smile that seemed to tell Kurt that now was the time to speak with his mother. Kurt turned, facing his mother’s head stone,
“Hi mom,” He said, placing his hands on the heart shaped stone. “I brought someone with me.” Kurt let his hand fall from the stone, only to lift Blaine’s hand and rest their hands together on the cold surface. “This is Blaine,” Kurt explained “He’s really great. And I just know you would have loved him.” Kurt blushed lightly, his eyes moving to Blaine’s “I know I do.”
There was another silence that marked the end of Kurt’s talking and Blaine took that as his time to speak. “Mrs. Hummel,” Blaine said, slightly shocking Kurt who hadn’t expected him to speak “I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this, but, Kurt is the smartest, kindest, and most beautiful person in the world. And you have my word that I, Blaine Anderson, will always take care of him, and never hurt him.”
Kurt blushed again, looking at Blaine through his eyelashes as he spoke. “You are such a suck up.” Kurt said playfully as their hands dropped from the stone, still clasped together.
“Hey, I was just telling the truth, and if that gets me on anyone’s good side, well, I’ll take it.” Blaine laughed, trying again to keep the air light, because they could both sense it was time to go. Blaine tested the waters by asking Kurt to lunch and the sadness set in on Kurt once more.
“Yeah,” Kurt said “Just let me say goodbye.” He smile slightly and Blaine turned, trying to give Kurt a moment of privacy with his mother. Kurt rested his hand over his heart, his other free hand on the heart of his mother’s stone. “Bye mom.” He said so quietly that even Blaine had a hard time hearing him. “I’ll be back soon, I love you.”
Blaine extended his hand, ready for whenever Kurt wanted to take it. He felt Kurt’s cold hand grasp his own, slightly warmer palm. Blaine looked back, a small smile growing on his face when he saw Kurt biting his bottom lip, a small smile spreading across his own face while thinking.
“Thanks for coming.” Kurt said, truly thankful for the company.
“Anything for you, Love.” Blaine said, leading him to the car and driving away to a most romantic lunch date.

this made me cry. not kidding. the part when kur talks to his mom, the tears pooled in my eyes. but they fell when blaine talked to her and made his promise to her. that really got to me. this was so wonderfully emotional. i noticed a few typos–most of them consisting of hitting the letter next to the one that you meant. for example: cisit instead of visit. food instead of good. lard instead of large (rectangular stone). "free hand on the heart of him mother's stone." him should be his. these are just minor issues. the one thing i noticed, that briefly confused me, was an incorrect word. you wrote, "Kurt could feel Blaine staring at him, still waiting for Kurt to tell him his plans. Blaine looked hesitantly into Blaine's big honey brown eyes and finally spoke. " i think you meant to say "KURT looked hesitantly into blaine's big honey brown eyes and he finally spoke." once i realized that the wrong name was used, it made more sense. so, that's all the constructive suggestions that i have. hope they help.
Haha I'm still laughing at the part about Blaine's eyes, but I fixed it and the other things you mentioned. Thanks so much for telling me! I really should get into a habit of proof reading these things. :) I'm glad you liked it and thanks again for commenting :D
This was cute. Made me a little teary.
