Going back to Ohio after spending Christmas in New York felt strange. In New York Blaine could pretend that he wasn't still stuck in high school while the love of his life was off in the big city. He could pretend for just a while that everything was fine and that he and Kurt were happy. Once he got back to Ohio however, reality hits and reminds him that he is still in high school, Kurt is off in New York, without him and they are far from happy.
"How was New York?" Tina asked before first period.
"Good, great. Nothing beats a New York Christmas, that's for sure. How was your Christmas?"
"Pretty good, kind of boring, but it was nice. Did you and Kurt talk?"
"Of course we talked, just not so much about us."
"I thought that's what you went to New York for?" Tina was sure Blaine said he was flying to New York because Kurt couldn't make it to Ohio and they were suppose to have a heart to heart about everything.
"Well, other things came up, I'm sure we'll find time to talk about it eventually." Blaine didn't want to tell anyone the real reason why he went to New York, Burt trusted him and he wasn't about to break a promise.
"Did you guys talk about NYADA? Is he excited?"
"Yes, he's excited, it's NYADA."
Mr. Thomas walked in so they didn't get a chance to finish their conversation which Blaine was kind of happy about, he didn't want to be reminded any more than he had to that, Kurt was moving on without him in New York at a fancy new school with tons of hot, single, gay men who would be crazy not to be interested in Kurt. Yeah, Blaine really didn't want to think about that.
--------------
The first day at NYADA was nothing short of a train wreck. Between the snow causing him to be late to his first class and trying to navigate the halls of NYADA without Rachel, who always seemed to have to help Brody with something, he felt like just giving up and going back home.
"You look utterly lost." A voice, a very non-American voice sounded from behind Kurt.
"Uh, I- yeah. It's my first day and my friend was suppose to help me out, but she's busy so I'm kind of on my own." Kurt looked at the guy who had spoken. He was tall, blonde, built, handsome and has the bluest eyes Kurt has ever seen. "Sorry, my name's Kurt." He held out his hand for the cute mystery guy to shake.
"Adam, it's nice to meet you Kurt." The guy, Adam, gave Kurt an adorable smile, shaking his hand. "What were you looking for? I'm a senior so I could help you out if you want, I know this place like the back of my hand."
"Um, I was honestly just looking for a quiet place to sit and gather my thoughts."
"Well you're in luck, I know just the place, follow me." Adam started walking towards the exit, looking back to make sure Kurt was following.
"What is this place?" Kurt asked once Adam stopped in front of a small building.
"Prop storage, but it's a really great place to go if you're looking for some peace and quiet. It's usually locked, but I had a key made because my singing group uses a lot of stuff outta here." Adam explained as he unlocked the door, letting Kurt in first.
"Wow, this is amazing." Kurt took in the room, and all the props.
"Yeah it is. So, how are you adjusting to life as a NYADA student?"
"Well, I was late to my first class because of the snow, I've gotten lost twice and I managed to get paint on my pants, other than that, I'd say pretty good." Kurt couldn't help but laugh at his own misfortune.
"I was like that my first day here, it gets better, you'll be a pro in no time."
"I hope you're right, today has been pretty crappy, until you came along that is. I guess I should thank you for being so kind to me."
"Don't worry about it, it's my pleasure."
"Still, thank you anyway." Kurt smiled, this guy was pretty amazing. Maybe he would make friends here after all.

As soon as he got out of Glee practice, Blaine made his way to the Hummel-Hudson house to check in on Burt.
"Hey kid, how was school?" Burt greeted him when he walked in the door.
"Good, boring. What about you, how was your day?"
"Uneventful. I watched a game, made lunch and watched another game. I don't think I can handle this taking it easy crap, I need to be doing something."
"You have to take it easy, doctor's orders. Besides, if anything happened to you, Kurt would kill me, I promised him I'd keep an eye on you for him."
"Is that so? Well then, I see how it's gonna be." Burt joked. "Speaking of Kurt, how are you two doing?"
"We're- I don't know. We're still broken up, but we are talking so I call that progress." Blaine sighed.
"He'll come around eventually kid, don't worry. He still loves you, that's never going to change."
"Maybe he does, but if he doesn't trust me, it's not going to matter how much he loves me or I love him."
"Trust has to be earned, he'll get there, just give him time to see that you're still worth fighting for."
"I'll wait forever if I have to, he's my soulmate, there's no one else for me."
"Alright then, now that we settled that, why don't we go out to the garage? You can help me with Mr. Hoover's car, it needs all new tires and an oil change."
"Sounds good, let me change out of this though." Blaine pointed to his jeans, polo, and bowtie. "I don't want to get grease on this."
Burt just laughed, remembering all the times Kurt would say the same thing. Having Blaine around was a lot like having Kurt back at home in a lot of ways. Maybe that's why he likes Blaine so much, because he's like a son to him, and hopefully, one day, he will be his son. He's getting ahead of himself, neither Kurt or Blaine are ready for marriage, and definitely not ready to marry each other, but maybe one day they will be. At least that's what Burt hopes.
