As Kurt got ready for school on Monday morning, he couldn't help but put in a little extra time on his morning routine, and if he wore his all time favorite outfit, well that was just a coincidence. He had a boyfriend to impress and he was going to do just that. It still felt weird to think of Blaine as his boyfriend, he never dreamed of finding anyone in Ohio, let alone at McKinley, but he had and he wasn't taking it for granted.
"Wow Kurt, you look great!" Carole complimented when Kurt walked into the kitchenn.
"Thank you Carole, I've been dying to wear this outfit and I finally decided to just try it."
"Are you sure you're not just trying to impress Anderson?" Finn asked in a knowing tone.
"Finn-"
"Who's Anderson?" Burt gave Kurt 'the look'.
"Uh well-"
"He's that guy I told you about, the one Figgins forced to join Glee Club because-"
"He wasn't forced to do anything Finn. He likes Glee and if people would take the time to just talk to him they'd see he's not a bad person."
"Okay boys, settle down. So are you trying to impress this boy?" Burt asked seriously.
"No Dad, I'm just wearing an outfit, there's nothing special about it. If I was trying to impress him- you know what, I don't have to answer this. I'll see you when I get home." Kurt turned and headed for the door. The last thing he needed was for his family to grill him about Blaine.
Blaine pulled into the McKinley High parking lot with just enough time to make it to his first period class. He was back to wearing his white t-shirt, leather jacket, black jeans, and combat boots. As he was making his way to his class, he thought about his weekend with Kurt, his boyfriend. Everything had been peaceful, he felt safe with Kurt, but then his parents came home and things fell apart all over again.
Just as he was rounding the corner to his class, he saw Karofsky and Azimio cornering Kurt at his locker. Without a second thought he walked over to them. "Karofsky, Azimio! Leave him alone!"
Karofsky turned to face Blaine and laughed. "Or what Anderson? What are you going to do?"
Blaine took a step closer, anger driving him. "Do you really want to know? I said, leave him alone."
"Whatever, let's get out of here Azimio. I don't have time to deal with these fairies."
"What did you just call him?" Blaine's voice was dark and threatening.
"Don't worry Anderson, I called you one-"
Karofsky didn't get the rest of his sentence out before Blaine attacked, knocking Karofsky to the ground.
"Blaine! Stop it!" Kurt yelled, scared to even move.
"Don't you ever- you stay away from Kurt or I swear-" Blaine yelled as he hit Karofsky's face repeatedly.
"Blaine please stop! Please Blaine!" Kurt was in tears, he'd never seen Blaine like this, so angry.
"What the- HEY! Break it up!" Mr. Shue ran up, having heard all the yelling. "Come on Anderson, that's enough. Principal's office, now." He pulled Blaine off of Karofsky who remained on the ground, groaning in pain.
Kurt just stood there, frozen with fear of what he'd just witnessed. He didn't know what to do.
"Kurt! Hey, you okay?" Finn came running up to him.
"I-I- Blaine, he- I-" Kurt was trying to make sense of what had just happened, but he couldn't. All he could see was Blaine, angry, hitting Karofky over and over.
"Come on, let's get you to class." Finn pulled Kurt down the hallway towards his calss, leaving Azimio to deal with getting Karofsky to the nurse.
"You don't get it! He's been bullying Kurt for God knows how long, he deserved it!" Blaine was sitting in Figgins' office with Mr. Shue, trying to explain why he just beat the crap out of Karofsky.
"That is none of your concern Mr. Anderson. If Mr. Hummel has a problem with Mr. Karofsky, he should have brought it to me." Figgins said.
"And what would you have done? Absolutely nothing and that would've made it worse."
"This is not up for discussion Mr. Anderson. You are suspended for the rest of this week. Be sure to get your work from your teachers today."
Blaine didn't wait to be dismissed, he got up and headed straight for Kurt's homeroom. He needed to see him.
Kurt was sitting in homeroom staring blankly at the board. What if Blaine got expelled for what he did? He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice Blaine entering the classroom.
"What can I do for you Mr. Anderson?" The teacher asked.
"I need to speak with Kurt about Glee Club."
"Make it fast please. Mr. Hummel, you're needed."
Kurt felt his heart rate increase when he saw Blaine there waiting for him. He got up and followed him out of the room. "Blaine-"
"Let me talk first. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have lost it like that, but Karofsky just-"
"It's okay Blaine, I understand." Kurt smiled softly.
"I scared you didn't I?"
Kurt thought about it before answering, deciding to go with the truth. "A little, yes, but it was just because I'd never seen you get that angry before. Honestly, I was scared that you were going to get hurt." He wanted so badly to reach out for Blaine, but he refrained himself.
"Are you okay though, did they hurt you?" Blaine asked, looking Kurt over for any signs of harm.
"No, I'm fine, they didn't hit me or anything. What about you, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, he didn't get a chance to fight back." Blaine answered, hesitating just a second before pulling Kurt in for a hug. "I just wanted to keep you safe."
Kurt hugged him back tightly. "I know, I know, and you did, thank you."
"Yeah, I did that time, but because I did, I've been suspended for the rest of the week. How am I suppose to look out for you if I'm not here?"
"I'll be fine, I promise. Just please don't go ater him and make it worse, okay?" Kurt pulled back just enough to see Blaine's face.
"Kurt I-"
"Promise me Blaine. I don't want to have to worry about this."
"Okay, okay. I promise."
"Thank you. Now, I have to get back to class. Will I see you in Glee Club?"
"Yeah, I'll be there." Blaine turned to walk away but stopped. "Kurt."
"Yeah Blaine?"
"I lo- I'm glad you're okay."
Kurt smiled happily at Blaine. "Me too." He walked back to his class, unable to keep the smile off his face. Blaine had almost said he loved him.
Blaine set off down the hallway with a smile as bright as the sun. One day he'd finish what he'd started to say, but he wasn't quite ready for that, at least not yet.
