I had gotten my first week of high school out of the way. On the bus ride home I heard people talking about the football game tonight. It took me a second to question why this was the first I was hearing of a football game, Finn is the quarterback so I figured I would have heard him talking about it at home. For a moment, I considered going, but reality set in and I remembered I don’t have any friends to go with. I thought about maybe going with my dad, but I think people would make fun of me for that.
Once I finally made it home I changed into my pajamas, I was stuck in the habit of being in comfortable clothes when I was at home. It didn’t really phase me that most people my age probably find sitting at home on a Friday afternoon in pj’s lame. I relaxed for a little bit on the couch and watched Gilmore Girls, Finn walked in and laughed. He always laughed at me for the television shows I watched but after a while I learned he’s harmless.
“What the hell are you doing in pajamas?” Finn asked.
“Relaxing,” I said without taking my eyes off the television. He started to walk away but then I remembered; I turned around to look at him, “Hey, why didn’t you tell me about the football game tonight?”
“There’s nothing for me to brag about, I’m not playing. Some new kid took my spot.”
“Oh, that’s a shame,” I said genuinely though I really didn’t understand the importance of football.
“Whatever, I’m still going to the game to hangout, watch Sam lose the game for us,” Finn said, with bitterness on his tongue and walked to his room.
I grabbed my laptop and opened it to begin typing my scene with Blaine. I figured if I’m not going out tonight I may as well knock out some homework. Instead, I pulled up Facebook and saw I had two friend requests; one from Blaine and one from Puckerman. I had only spoken not but five words to Puck, but I instinctively smiled when I saw Blaine’s name on my screen. I added them both immediately.
I began scrolling through Puck’s page and looked through his photo’s, there’s pictures of him and Finn at some party playing beer pong. I wasn’t surprised to see that and grew bored, so I typed “Blaine Anderson” into my search bar. I was scrolling through his photos and, my god, each picture was more flawless than the last. If that was even possible. He has definitely had a busy high school career, there was endless photos of him on stage, backstage with friends, singing with what looked to be a glee club at an amusement park… once I looked through almost every photo I felt a little creepy. Being homeschooled, I forget what boundaries are since I’m never around anyone my age, but I was sure I just crossed a weird line. I went back to his homepage to see his status made five minutes previous said, “First football game of the season tonight, hell yeah! Tina, if you’re late you are WALKING home! ;)”
I closed my laptop and went upstairs to change my clothes. I didn’t even think about it, once I saw Blaine was going to the game, I wanted to go. I wasn’t even sure why that was. I made myself presentable, put on my red, yellow, and green checkered scarf with my black pea coat and left my room.
“Change your mind about the game?” Finn asked as he grabbed his keys off the table. I nodded. “Come on, little brother, I’ll give you a ride.”
