Kurt was so proud of Blaine, for overcoming everything he had. Obviously there were still problems, Blaine still woke up screaming some nights, wracked with nightmares, but Kurt was there and he soothed him, helped him understand that no one was going to hurt him.

One Friday morning found Blaine and Kurt sitting down in their kitchen, Blaine having made a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, all of their favourites. Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine softly.

“This looks delicious.” Kurt beamed.

They ate in a comfortable silence, finishing all of the food and washing up their dishes together. A loud knock on the door startled Blaine when he was just putting the last plate away, but Kurt rubbed his back slowly.

“I’ll get it.” He smiled, and walked to the door.

Blaine hummed happily and finished putting all the dishes away, he slipped back into his chair at the table and listened to what was being said at the door.

“No-No come in. Come in, what happened? Shit, you’re-BLAINE. BLAINE, get the first aid kit...come on,”

Blaine jumped up and ran to the cupboard, pulling out the first aid kit and placing it on the table, gasping when Kurt walked back through the doorway, supporting Nathan, who was bleeding heavily from his head.

Blaine froze, but Kurt moved swiftly. He was trained quite well in first aid so Blaine let him busy around the kitchen. Blaine stared at Nathan, who was weakening right in front of his eyes, but he couldn’t move, he felt sick to his stomach and he was terrified.

Kurt managed to gather up enough resources to create a bandage, but when he moved back over, Blaine was stood in his way. Kurt rested his hands on Blaine’s hips and kissed his neck.

“Come on baby, go lay down, I need to see to Nathan.” He whispered, tugging him towards the doorway. Blaine managed to go lay down on the sofa, shutting his eyes and trying to ignore the ringing in his ears.

Sometime later, Blaine wasn’t sure how long had passed, Kurt escorted Nathan back into the living room and sat him in an arm chair.

“We’ll take you to the hospital in a minute, but you need to tell us what happened.”

Nathan had tear stained cheeks, and Blaine tried to sit up right when Kurt cuddled in next to him, rubbing his arm soothingly.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t know where else to go. I’m so sorry.” Was all Nathan could say.

“It’s fine, you’re fine. Head wounds, there’s always a lot of blood. But Nathan please, you need to talk to us.”

“It’s Tony-he’s been released on bail whilst the trial is waiting for a court date.” Nathan said slowly, Kurt felt
Blaine freeze next to him, and then watched as Blaine ran out of the room, slamming the bathroom door shut. Blaine kneeled over the toilet, throwing up into it, coughing up as much as he could, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Kurt’s hand rubbed on his back, he hadn’t heard him come in, but he kept gagging and coughing up more. He felt his body shaking, and Kurt pressed a damp flannel to his forehead.

“You’re okay, you’re okay.” He whispered, voice shaking.

“He’s back” Blaine’s voice broke.

“He’s going to prison, Blaine. Not only for what he did to you, but to what he’s done to Nathan.” Kurt reassured him.

“What did he do?” Blaine whispered.

“I don’t know baby. Come with me, we’ll take you to bed and then I’ll talk to Nathan, okay? You don’t need to hear this.” Kurt said softly, rubbing Blaine’s back and pulling him to a standing position, arms wrapped tightly around him.

“No, I want to.”

“You can’t. I’ll tell you later, I promise. You just need to go lie down.” Kurt hushed.

Blaine nodded reluctantly and let Kurt lead him to the bedroom, he climbed under the cold covers and curled into himself. Kurt pressed a few kisses to his head , forehead and cheeks and then left the room, clicking the door quietly.

Kurt walked back into the living room, checking Nathan’s bandage on the way – it seemed okay, there was no blood visible so he sat back down, passing Nathan his glass of water.

“I’m sorry.” Nathan said.

“Don’t be, he wants to know. I’ll tell him later, but for now you need to tell me what happened.”

Nathan nodded and shut his eyes. “I was at home and there was loud bangs on my door, like someone was throwing something at it, or hitting it with a chair or something. So I went to see what it was – loads of kids live near me so I figured it was them being irritating or something, so I opened the door and there was no one there. It was eerily quiet, you know? I looked around, like to the left and the right, and then when I was turning to go back into my apartment, I felt this huge impact in the back of my head. I turned around really quickly but fell to the floor half way, my vision went black and then it came back and-and I could see him-with a baseball bat standing over me. He smiled and spoke to me.” Nathan gushed. Kurt was really proud of him for being able to talk about it, Nathan was so brave.

“What did he say?” Kurt asked.

“He told me that he didn’t care if he was going to prison, he just had to get revenge on me. He said that I got in the way of him being able to be with Blaine like that and I was going to pay. He ran away, and then I blacked out. I woke up a while later and my head was bleeding, I knew that head wounds always look worse than they are so I drove here, you live the closest out of everyone I know and I just had to get to you.”

“I’m glad you did. But we need to call the police.” Kurt whispered.

Nathan nodded and then turned to the doorway, feeling a presence in the room. Blaine stood at the doorframe, eyes welled with tears and Kurt rushed over to him, wrapping his arms around his waist and helping him over to the sofa.

“Are you okay?” Kurt whispered.

“He did that?” Blaine asked Nathan, ignoring Kurt’s question.

Nathan nodded. “I’m sorry Blaine. I didn’t want you to have to find out.”

“No. Thank you, I’m glad I know. I’m sorry that you’re involved in this.” Blaine said quietly, dropping his head.

“I’m not.” Nathan said, surprising both Kurt and Blaine.

“Why?” Kurt asked.

“Because if I wasn’t involved, who knows what would have happened to Blaine by now.” He said honestly, Kurt tensed a little but Blaine rest his head on Kurt’s shoulder.

“I can never thank you enough, Nath. For saving him, for being there for him when...when I wasn’t.” Kurt said sadly.

“You’re here and I love you.” Blaine whispered against Kurt’s neck.

--

A while later, an ambulance took Nathan away, and a police officer asked a few questions to Kurt and Blaine and then left, their apartment suddenly very empty with only the two of them cuddled together on the sofa.

“I’m sorry Blaine. But it’s over now, it’s all over, you’re safe.”

“Never leave me.” Blaine whispered, tears rolling down his cheeks. “Please Kurt, I couldn’t be without you.”

Kurt looked a little shocked, but kissed Blaine’s forehead. “I’ll never leave you Blaine. I love you too much to watch you walk away.”

“I’ll never walk away.” Blaine mumbled.
