Kurt switched the engine off and they sat silently for a moment before Kurt sighed and unbuckled his seat belt.
“Let’s just...try and have a good time. We can talk when we get home.”He twisted around in his seat, pulled the keys out of the ignition and got out of the car. He looked up at Blaine.
“Kurt-” His voice broke.
“Don’t start Blaine. Not here, not now.”
Blaine turned away and got out of the car. They both slammed the car doors a bit too hard and walked towards the entrance, keeping a new and unwelcome distance between them. Blaine had his hands deep in his pockets, his head tilted towards the ground, whilst Kurt walked tall, somehow indifferent to the situation. As they reached the door, there seemed to be an unspoken recognition and they slowly came closer together. Blaine removed his hand from his pocket to entwine his and Kurt’s fingers together. It was strange. It wasn’t how they usually held hands, tightly with Kurt’s thumb rubbing idly down Blaine’s whilst they accidently bumped into each other’s shoulders, neither being very good at walking in a straight line whilst talking and laughing. This was uncomfortable. Their fingers were so loose that Blaine felt like he was literally holding on with the tips of his fingers, and they still had such a gap between them that if Blaine took a step to his left, he would still be further than normal away from Kurt.
They reached Rachel and she pulled them both in for a hug, but seemed to sense the tension.
“Blaine you look so cute. Finn wanted to see you though; he’s over there with Puckerman and Quinn.”
Blaine nodded appreciatively and smiled. He turned to Kurt, an unsure emotion swept his face and Kurt simply dropped his hand from his, looked over at Finn and then back to Blaine.
“I guess...I’ll just...go speak to Finn then.”
Blaine gave Rachel an affectionate squeeze on the arm and then walked away. As soon as he was gone, Rachel grabbed Kurt’s hand and dragged him into the kitchen.
“What’s going on?”
Kurt sighed and leant back against the fridge. Rachel put her hands on her hips, and shook her head at him, waiting for an answer.
“He’s just...Ugh. Rachel he drives me insane.”
“Of course he does. He’s in love with you.”
“Rachel-”
“No, Kurt. Listen to me. He’s in love with you. He’s always been in love with you.”
“Rach-”
“It’s only ever been you.”
Kurt put his head in his hands, and then raised his voice.
“He wants us to go on a break.”
Rachel breathed out hard, disbelief flooding her face. Kurt looked up to meet her eyes, tears threatening to fall from his own.
“He...no, Kurt. What?”
“He said he wanted a break, but then he said he didn’t know what he wanted, and then he stormed out.”
Rachel sat down at the table, placing her left hand to her temple.
“Come sit down, honey.”
Kurt obliged, slumping down into the chair and placing both hands on his temples.
“Tell me what happened.” Rachel rubbed her hand affectionately down his forearm.
Kurt’s breath was jagged, but he gulped and started talking.
“He came in at 3am, drunk again. He stank of booze and...and...sex.” His voice cringed at the word.

“You’re home late.” Kurt forced a smile, body leaning against the bedroom door.
Blaine’s eyes ran over his body, and then he stumbled into the kitchen.
“Yeah...s-sorry I got...distracted.” He yelled, laughing at his own words.
“You’ve been drinking.” Kurt was behind him, Blaine shut the fridge after getting the milk bottle. He slammed the bottle onto the worktop.
“You win first prize!” he tapped Kurt’s nose sarcastically and took a glass from the cupboard, pouring the milk and then walking away.
“Are you gonna drink your milk?”
Blaine turned around. “Yes. I am. Anything else?”
Kurt’s face scrunched up, confused. “What?”
“Anything. Else?” Blaine walked towards him, their faces almost touching.
Kurt took a step backwards. “Blaine, what’s the matter with you?” He tried to ignore the smell of sex reeking from his boyfriend.
“Nothing. Everything is absolutely fucking fantastic!” Blaine shouted.
“Blaine.” Kurt’s voice was barely a whisper.
Blaine ignored him. “I told you not to, not to wait up.”
Kurt felt his eyes prickling. He couldn’t do this anymore.
“Who is he?”
“Who?”
“The guy you’re fucking.”
“You’re impossible. Go to bed.”
“Blaine”
“No, Kurt. Just go to bed.”
“Blaine.” He pressed.
“I’m not fucking anyone. Okay. Only you, only fucking you. Only ever fucked you. Okay. Happy now?” Blaine stormed past Kurt, but Kurt wasn’t convinced.
“You come in here reeking of sex and booze and expect me to believe when you come out with this bullshit?!”
“When are you going to stop fucking pressing me for this information which doesn’t fucking exist. Maybe I’m done here. Maybe we should just go on a break or something.”
Kurt’s jaw dropped, the tears rolled down his cheeks, and he took a step towards him.
Blaine backed away, his arms rising up. “You know what Kurt? I don’t even know what I want anymore.”
Blaine walked out as Kurt sat on the floor, head in his hands. The door slammed.

Tears rolled down Kurt’s cheeks as Rachel cradled his head to her body. She whispered soft hushes to him and kissed his hair.
“The next morning he apologised. He bought me breakfast in bed, and, and I thought it was all okay.”
“Kurt, if he’s been sleeping with someone else-”
“I know.” he whispered, voice barely audible.
Kurt wiped his tears with his hand and pulled himself up from Rachel.
“Let’s just forget about it for tonight? Please?” He begged.
Rachel put on her most enthusiastic fake smile, and took his hand, leading them into Rachel’s living room.
The music pumped and Kurt could literally feel the bass in his throat. He took the shot glass from Finn’s hand and downed it in one, placing the glass back into Finn’s hand and walked away. He moved into the main area where everyone was dancing, there were so many people. So many people he’d never ever seen before. He figured they were people that Rachel met at college but he couldn’t be sure that people hadn’t just heard there was a party and then turned up. He let himself feel the music, and did his best to forget about Blaine and their arguments and everything all together. He felt two hands press into his hips, fingertips sinking deeper into the skin. Kurt threw his head back onto the other boys shoulder, feeling him press kisses down his jaw. He ground his hips backwards, feeling just how aroused the other man was. Kurt heard him moan, and a smile tugged at his lips. He spun around, the finger pressure on his hips only getting tighter. Their foreheads rest together.
“I’m Nathan.”
“Kurt.”
End Notes: Blaine may seem very OOC at the moment but it'll all come together soon I promise. Also Kurt, but don't worry about him either. I have reasons!
