Chapter Eight

Blaine had a plan.

Well, it was Jeff’s plan so he had his doubts it would work but the boys didn’t have anything else. When he thought about it he could see where Jeff was going with it, but first they had to convince Wes. That would be fun.

Blaine made his way quickly down the corridor towards the Warblers practice room. Wes liked doing his homework in there so Blaine knew he would most likely be there.
Before going in he knocked on the door and received a small ‘Come in!’ in return.

“Hey Wes.” Blaine sat down in a couch opposite Wes and his pile of folders and books.

“Hey man. What’s up?” Wes didn’t look up but Blaine could see the slight tension in his forehead that only occurred when any homework given by Mr Davis was attempted. Wes overachieved way too much in that lesson by Blaine’s standards.

“Isn’t all of this in for tomorrow’s lesson?” Blaine asked shocked. They had been assigned three worksheets to do and they had to create a presentation on the topic they’d been given.

“It is and don’t worry! I’ll get it done. You obviously don’t remember the huge overnight English essay of 2010. If you remember correctly I got an A on that.” Wes said with a chuckle continuing with his work.

“You may have gotten an A but you ended up passing out as soon as you stepped out of that classroom!”

“Shut up Blaine. Now, what do you want?” Wes looked up from his work, pen lid hanging out of his mouth.

“Jeff has a plan. Don’t look at me like that! It’s a good one…kind of.” He tried to pass off the sentence with a smile but Wes could see right through it.

The other boy put down his pen and narrowed his eyes.
“What does Jeff want to do?”

“Who has Pav?”

----------------------------------------------

Quiet was all he wanted. The Warbler boys were still trying to get him to open up but if he opened up they would probably find something they didn’t like about him and it would be like McKinley all over again. A small part of him wanted to go to the boys though. A tiny piece of him wanted to be a Warbler and wanted friends. But that piece was quickly cut off by his other thoughts.

The school bell pierced through his thoughts alerting him that he had ten minutes to get to his first class. He has English first and this class wasn’t so bad. Nobody bothered him and the teacher was nice and thankfully hadn’t made him introduce himself in front of the class. Something only one of his new teachers had made him do which Kurt considered lucky.

He got halfway to his class before he realised he has left his book for his assignment on his desk. Kurt quickly doubled back to his room to collect it. When he finally got to his English class he was late. Not enough to get in trouble, considering the teacher wasn’t even there yet, but enough that he couldn’t sit in his normal seat in the back of the classroom. The only seat left empty was the one next to Blaine. He hurried to the seat and turned his book to the correct page.

“I want you guys to just do independent reading today. Is that okay?” Mr Franklin said when he came through the door. A chorus of “Yes sir” sounded from the room. “Remember this isn’t an opportunity to slack off. I trust you guys. Now, I have to go down the hall and cover for another teacher as they’re sick today.” He took the register and was gone.

Kurt was one of the few boys that didn’t erupt into chatter as soon as the door clicked closed choosing instead to read the chapter. Halfway through the lesson someone decided to try and get his attention.

“Kurt?”

Deciding to ignore the interruption Kurt read on.

“Kurt?”

Still ignoring.

“Kurt?” Blaine whined.

“What?” He snapped. Looking up at the other boy with a glare that could kill.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to umm…irritate you. I’ll just umm…go talk to someone else.” Blaine went to get up but Kurt quickly stopped him by grabbing his wrist.

“No! Don’t go! I’m sorry. I was just doing what sir told us to do.” Realising that he hadn’t let go off Blaine’s wrist he dropped his hand as though he had been burned. “Sorry”

“Kurt it’s fine. I only wanted to talk to you but it’s no big deal if you want to read.” Blaine’s eyes locked onto his. A pair of big golden hazel eyes looking right into him. Kurt completely lost his thought. He looked away shaking his head trying to gather his thought.

“Sure. What do you want to talk about?” Kurt could feel himself blushing. His face heating up and turning an embarrassing colour of red.

“I didn’t really want to talk to you. I want to tell you something.” Blaine said.

“And that’s what? You’re being pretty vague Blaine.” He couldn’t figure out where Blaine was going with this at all. Whatever it was the other boy seemed rather nervous if his fidgeting was anything to go by.

“I needed to tell you that the guys and I want you to meet us in the common room after dinner.” The sentence was delivered in such a rush that Kurt was surprised he managed to understand it.

“The common room after dinner.” He repeated nodding. “Any reason why?”

Blaine smirked at Kurt’s raised eyebrow and shook his head.

“There is a reason but I’m not allowed to say. It’s a surprise!” Blaine’s smirk turned into a huge smile not noticing Kurt’s discomfort.

“I’m not overly fond of surprises Blaine.” Maybe he could get himself out of going if he came up with a good enough excuse.

“But it’s a nice one I promise. I think you’ll like it. It was Jeff’s idea.”

Kurt trusted Jeff. He didn’t know why but the blonde boy seemed to be too nice for his own good.

“If it was Jeff’s idea then okay I’ll come.” Kurt smiled.

“Yay!” Blaine clapped and bounced in his seat. “You won’t regret it.” The other boys smile seemed to grow even bigger and Kurt couldn’t look away.

“You have a really nice smile did you know that?” Kurt said without thinking.

“Aww thanks Kurt. I think you have a pretty cute smile.”

The bell that announced first lesson over rang loudly. The boys in the classroom were quickly packing their things and making their way to second period.

Kurt slowly packed his things away trying to mentally will his blush away when he felt a small tap on his shoulder. Looking up he saw Blaine in front of him smiling.

“I might see you before this but if not bye.” Blaine winked and then left.

Kurt had finally packed his things away and was making his way to his Physics lesson. His body may have been there but his mind was miles off trying to make sense of Blaine’s behaviour. He couldn’t have been flirting could he? That’s just stupid. Blaine was probably just being friendly. Kurt didn’t even know if he was gay…but what if he was?
It was most likely a joke. It was always a joke.

Walking into the Physics classroom he found his seat and tried to focus on the work Mr Davis was writing on the board and defiantly not on the way that Blaine’s smile made his eyes light up.

Defiantly science.

This was really good. I love seeing Blaine and Kurt interact and I really like how you write the character of Wes. I can't wait to see how Kurt reacts to their surprise for him. Looking forward to reading chapter 9.
