“You, Your Majesty, are devious.”
“I am also madly in love with you.” He hadn't meant to say love, but it had rolled off his tongue unannounced and, now that it had been said, he didn't regret saying it at all. Blaine sent a shy look Kurt's way, silently begging the stunned young man to respond.
Kurt could feel a blush creeping up his neck, tickling his ears and pawing at his cheekbones. He felt warm from head to toe – warm and so, so loved – but his tongue was suddenly caught in his throat. To talk would be to ruin the moment, it seemed to say. Do not risk messing this up.
“Kurt?” Blaine questioned, nerves clawing at his insides. What would he do if Kurt didn't love him in return?
“Iloveyoutoo.” Kurt stumbled on his words, tying them together in a tight string, but the Prince could tell that they were sincere. Kurt – beautiful, witty, charming Kurt – loved him. A smile threatened to split his face in half and he allowed it to without putting up a fight. Blaine could not remember the last time that he had felt this happy; that he felt this completely, utterly elated. He thinks that, perhaps, this is the first time. Kurt makes him so happy - he always has done, ever since the day they first met.
“Kurt... I cannot be king. I love you far too much to ever love anyone else – let alone a woman.” The smile fell from the Prince's face as he spoke, willing his lover to understand. “James is far more suited to the throne. I – if I could, Kurt, I would ask for your hand. We can't be married, but I would abdicate for you, Kurt, if you would leave this place with me.”
“Blaine.” Kurt interrupted. He wiped his eyes, for once not caring about being surreptitious with his emotions and not caring if he stained his satin white gloves. “I – I don't know what to say... would – would you really give up the throne for me?”
“Of course I would. Kurt, you are my everything. Please, just say yes?”
“Your life is so good here, though. I love you, but I couldn't possibly ask you to give all of this up for someone as insignificant as me...”
“You are not insignificant, Kurt Hummel. You are perfect; you are the love of my life – hell, you are my whole life and I never, ever want to be without you.” The raw emotion in Blaine's voice was enough to convince Kurt. He had wanted to say yes from the moment the Prince had asked him, but he had to be certain that the outcome of this would be good for both of them; that Blaine would never regret his decision.
