Blaine had gone to Kurt's class' "talent show", which really wasn't a talent show, but an assignment. They were told to pick a song that meant something deeply to them and sing it in front of an audience, and portray the emotion in the chosen song to the audience. The more applause you get, the more points. It was kind of extra credit. If Kurt got a standing ovation he'd get twenty extra points. Moderate applause was worth ten, and a small amount was worth none. This wouldn't hurt their grade, only help it. Kurt walked onto the stage and Blaine grinned. He hadn't heard Kurt sing his song before, nor did he know what he was singing, but knew it was something sad immediately due to how Kurt was dressed. His love was wearing black skinny pants, a black tee shirt, and a black blazer. His hair was spiked up slightly, sexily messy, and his eyes were lined with black liner. He looked close to tears as well, which immediately gave Blaine a pang of anger at whoever had caused his angel to cry. The music began to play, and Kurt sang in a voice so full of emotion that Blaine almost, but didn't, start crying.

"Oh, nowhere left to go,
Are we getting closer, closer?
No, all we know is no,
Nights are getting colder, colder."

Kurt moved to the front of the stage, staring directly at Blaine, eyes swimming. Blaine stared right back, thanking god that he was only a few rows from the stage. He smiled a little.
"Hey,
Tears all fall the same,
We all feel the rain,
We can't change."

Kurt smiled sadly for a second before he moved back to center stage, still pouring his emotion into each word of the song.
"Everywhere we go,
We're lookin' for the sun.
Nowhere to grow old,
We're always on the run.
They say we'll rot in hell,
Well, I don't think we will.
They've branded us enough,
Outlaws of love."

Kurt closed his eyes, letting his voice soar. He surrendered to the lyrics falling from his lips, a few tears running down his face. He knew that the audience was full of both people who didn't support gay marriage and people who did, so he let his guard down, showing them all how he felt, how close this issue was to him. But he wasn't singing for himself. He was singing these words to Blaine, to the love of his life. He was singing to his unborn baby girl, who may be damned to having her fathers be unmarried and being born out of wedlock, if these laws weren't passed in Ohio. He was singing to his dad, who'd had another heart attack just last week but was still alive and recovering fast enough that Kurt hadn't had to go home, the heart attack a very, very minor one. He was singing for everyone.
"Scars make us who we are,
Hearts and homes are broken, broken.
Far, we could go so far,
With our minds wide open, open."

His eyes opened and he looked down at the audience to find that most of the people were in tears. He allowed his own to flow untouched down his face, then found the golden eyes he couldn't live without, the eyes of the person who'd supported him since they met. Blaine was crying and had a hand on his stomach, staring with awe and agony at the boy who was currently owning the stage and pulling each and every person in the audience's heart strings like a giant marionette.
"Hey,
Tears all fall the same,
We all feel the rain,
We can't change."

He almost began sobbing when Blaine smiled, his expression heartbroken, but full of hope. But he didn't. He just fixed his breathing and kept singing as if his breath hadn't hitched and his voice hadn't cracked.
"Everywhere we go,
We're lookin' for the sun.
Nowhere to grow old,
We're always on the run.
They say we'll rot in hell,
But I don't think we will.
They've branded us enough,
Outlaws of love."

Kurt sang the bridge, closing his eyes and bringing his hands to his abdomen, doubling over slightly as he belted the lyrics.

"Everywhere we go,
We're lookin' for the sun.
Nowhere to grow old,
We're always on the run.
They say we'll rot in hell,
But I don't think we will.
They've branded us enough,
Outlaws of love.

Outlaws of love.
Outlaws of love.
Outlaws of love."

He stopped singing, but didn't move. He stayed staring at the floor, trying to collect himself. The audience was absolutely silent, until one person began clapping. Then, the rest followed, jumping to their feet and screaming, cheering for him. He straightened up and surveyed the audience with wide eyes. Everyone was standing. He spied his dark haired lover standing and clapping hard, grinning at him.

"Thank you, thank you all so much," Kurt said humbly before he left the stage.

"Great job, kid," his teacher said fondly, and Kurt smiled. He walked with a slight spring in his step to his place with the other students, as he was the last performer. The curtains rose and applause began to ring through the air, screams and whistles punctuating the uproar as the students smiled, bowed and curtsied, and waved to family members and partners. They left the stage to meet with the people who'd come to see them, and Kurt walked right into Blaine's arms, grinning. Blaine kissed him sweetly.

"You killed it," Blaine told him, smiling. Kurt smiled and pecked him on the lips, giggling when he felt the baby kicking against his abdomen, which was pressed against Blaine's own, hugely pregnant belly.

"Let's go, I have something special planned," Blaine murmured, pulling back and grabbing Kurt's hands. Kurt laughed as they wove through the crowd, going outside to hail a cab. When they got back to their tiny apartment, Blaine went into the kitchen and pulled out something he'd hidden from Kurt, which was a gorgeous cake, frosted with white icing and adorned with lovely, blood red frosting roses.

"Oh, Blaine, you didn't have to do this," Kurt said as Blaine sat it down on the table, then promptly went back to the refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of sparkling white grape juice.

"I thought that, since neither of us could have champagne, especially not me, we could have sparkling grape juice instead. And I'm going to cook dinner, so go sit in the living room. And no peeking," Blaine said, pecking his lover on the lips sweetly and smiling.

"Alright, baby, but don't strain yourself."

"I won't! I picked something easy but still elegant, ok?"

"Alright. Love you," Kurt murmured, pecking him on the lips.

"Love you too. Living room. Now," Blaine said firmly, and Kurt grinned.

"Sir, yes, sir," he said, snapping a salute before he went into the living room. Blaine chuckled, then went back to the refrigerator. Kurt sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. He scrolled through the channels before finally deciding on watching Mythbusters. After twenty minutes had passed, with various delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen and making Kurt's stomach growl, Blaine poked his head out of the kitchen to tell Kurt to go in there. Kurt stood up and went into the kitchen, turning the TV off.

"Oh, Blaine," Kurt gasped when he walked into the kitchen and saw that the table was set with a new, deep red tablecloth, pure white place mats, and their good tableware. In the center of the table was one of Kurt's favorite candelabras, with a burgundy candle burning bright in each holder. The shiny white plates each held a serving of tortellini with marinara sauce, covered in a light dusting of grated Parmesan cheese, which looked to have been freshly grated. Each of the champagne flutes was filled a bit more than half way with the grape juice.

"Do you like it?" Blaine asked, looking a bit worried.

"Blaine, of course I do, this is beautiful, and so romantic," Kurt said, smiling widely and wrapping his arms around Blaine, who blushed a little.

"Really?" Blaine asked softly, eyes wide and childlike. Kurt smiled sweetly at him.

"Yes, Blaine," Kurt said softly, kissing him softly, reaching up to gently cup his face in his palm. Blaine wrapped his arms around his neck, kissing back passionately. Kurt pulled back and rested his forehead against Blaine's, smiling at him. It was hard not to remember the day he fell in love with him, staring into his eyes like this. He never really admitted it to himself, but he fell in love with Blaine as soon as he said he'd confront Karofsky with him after Karofsky had kissed him.

"Come on, let's eat," Kurt said softly. Blaine smiled and they both moved out of each others' embraces to sit down at the table. Kurt took a bite of the tortellini and his eyes widened.

"Blaine, this is incredible!" he said when he'd swallowed. Blaine smiled.

"It's my grandma's recipe," he said.

"You made all this from scratch?" Kurt asked.

"Yeah. I, uhm, I kinda stayed up last night to make it," Blaine said, blushing a bit.

"No wonder you were so tired this morning!" Kurt said. "Blaine, you didn't have to do this for me, I would have been fine with ordering pizza or something!"

"I-I wanted to. Just eat," Blaine said, biting his lip. Kurt gave him a confused look, then shrugged it off, taking another bite of the pasta. He picked up his glass, then noticed something sparkling in the bottom of the glass. He took a closer look at it, then gasped when he saw that it was a diamond ring. When he looked up to ask Blaine what it was, he wasn't in his chair anymore, but standing beside him.

"B-Blaine," Kurt whispered. Blaine gently took his hands and made him stand up, then got down on one knee in front of him.

"I had a whole speech planned for this, but I completely forgot it, so I'm just going to wing it," Blaine said, laughing nervously. "Kurt, I love you more than anything. I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you, no matter the implications of that." He laughed nervously again. "I promise you that I'll always love and support you, Kurt. I promise to always be at your performances, holding you when you cry, and killing anyone who ever tries to hurt you. I promise to keep you safe and take care of you, and I promise to try my hardest to give you the world. I... I owe you so much, Kurt, you've given me so many things that I'll never be able to pay back. You gave me your virginity, you gave me your love, you've taken care of me from the time I told you about the baby, everything. I would be lying if I said that I truly fell in love with you when you sang Blackbird, because that was just when I figured out my feelings. I fell in love with you from the moment you told me about how much you were being bullied, how much you had to go through every day, and I realized how much you kept bottled inside of you. So, what I'm trying to say here is, Kurt... will you marry me?" Kurt grabbed Blaine's hands and tugged him up off the floor, throwing his arms around him and kissing him hard.

"Yes, yes, Blaine! Yes!" he cried, tears flowing unchecked down his face. Blaine smiled widely, his eyes filling with tears, and he pulled Kurt down into another kiss, their lips moving against each other, so sweet and secure. When they could finally retire to the familiarity of their bedroom, they took their time in making love, slow and sweet and careful, whispering how much they each loved each other.
