Blaine Anderson stood in the school courtyard, frantically trying to pat his wildly curly hair down. It would never flatten, and he stood out so much because of it. Elementary school was a tough world, sometimes it was hard being different.
Slowly, he walked into his school, quickly making his way to the classroom and his desk. It was an old, wooden desk, with strange things written all over it, insults to teachers and pictures of animals, and a faded Barbie sticker in the corner. It was the grossest desk in the whole room, and he had gotten assigned to it. Sometimes he felt like that desk, worn out and cast aside, covered with awful words.
"Hey, are you asleep?" The squeaky voice snapped Blaine out of his trance. He raised his eyes to see a girl standing before him. The girl was pale, with loads of freckles, and a head of long, curly, blonde hair. "Uh, no, I'm awake." He muttered, looking back down. He was so shy and quiet; he wondered why this girl had noticed him at all. She looked him up and down quickly, then flashed him a grin. "I'm Charlotte, but no one calls me that. Call me Charley. What's your name? I like your hair; it's kind of like mine, only not as long." She sure did talk a lot. "Blaine. I'm Blaine." He mumbled, daring himself to look back up at her. "Alright then. Hi Blaine, we're friends now." Charley said, taking a seat beside him and smiling again.
Blaine Anderson stood in front Sally and Co., the little Westerville coffee shop. "Blainers!" He'd know that high, bubbly voice anywhere. "Hey Char, how've you been?" he said, laughing as the tall girl threw her arms around him. "You act like we haven't seen each other in years, it's only been about a week!" he laughed again, his eyes twinkling in the bright sunlight. "But we just don't see each other like we used to, it's so weird seeing you, but not every day." She said, grinning at him. She looped her arm through his, and bumped their hips together.
"C'mon. Let's go get a table, then you can tell me about all the new boys you've met." She giggled, scrunching her face up in the smile he knew so well.
Once they had gotten their drinks and a table, Char wasted no time in asking what she did every time they hung out. "Have you met anyone?" she questioned, giving him a knowing look as she sipped her tea (She wasn't a coffee person).
Blaine thought for a moment. He had just met someone, but they barely knew each other, and he didn't even know if what he felt for this boy was anything remotely close to affection.
"I have, actually." The words left his mouth before he could even think about saying them.
"His name is Kurt."
