“Wes! I can’t handle it! What if they don’t like me? What if they hate me? You know that I can’t deal with people hating me! I can’t do it!” Blaine complained into his phone.
“Blainers, calm down. You’re teaching preschool. Preschool. I think you can handle it. Sing some songs and draw a picture or something.” Wes laughed at his friend’s outburst.
“I’m just so nervous. I’m so nervous I ran into a guy this morning and spilled coffee all over him!” Blaine said replaying the fiasco in his mind.
“Smooth.” Wes laughed.
“But he was absolutely gorgeous, we’re going out tonight.” Blaine said cheering up some.
“Well clearly you’re not too stressed about work if you’ve got a hot date tonight.” Wes chuckled.
“Haha, guess you’re right. Well I have class in a few so I’ll talk to you later.” Blaine said noticing the clock on the wall.
“Okay dude, call me after your hot date” Wes laughed before ending the call.
Blaine shook his head and waited for his class to enter.
“Alright Candie, remember to be on your best behavior. Show respect and treat people nicely. All that jazz. Play fair and do what your teacher says. Mommy will be picking you up and when I get off from work we’re all going out for ice cream and you can tell us all about your first day. Remember to have fun. I love you kiddo.” Kurt said kissing his daughter’s forehead.
“Daddy I knowwww.” Candie laughed. “I love you too.” She smiled.
“Alrighty, see you later then.” Kurt laughed opening the door for you.
“Bye daddy.” Candie smiled stepping into the classroom.
“Hello there, I’m your teacher Mr. Anderson, but you can call me Mr. A.” Blaine smiled politely, it was his first kid what was he supposed to do?
“Good morning Mr. Anderson, I’m Candace Elizabeth Hummel, but everyone calls me Candie. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She giggled extending her hand for him to shake.
Blaine was a little taken back by this. What preschooler had such nice manners? Favorite student already.
“Its nice meeting you as well Miss Candie. How about you take a seat over there and we’ll wait for your classmates to get here.” Blaine smiled gesturing to a chair.
If all his students were as sweet as Candie, no pun intended, his job should be easy enough.
Some more students piled in and he began taking attendance.
There were only a total of twelve kids in his class, easy enough. Learning names should be easy.
“Okay class, we’re going to go around the room and say our names, our ages, and something interesting about ourselves.” Blaine smiled.
“I’ll go first. My name is Mr. Anderson I’m twenty five and I love to sing.” He said proudly.
“My name is Tyler, I’m six and I have two dogs.”
“I’m Sarah and I’m five and I like to jump rope.”
“My name’s Elaina I’m six and I live with my mommy and my daddy and my older brother.”
“My name is Candie, I’ll be five in a few months and I live with my mommy and my daddy and my aunt Brit and my auntie Rachel and my uncle Finn.”
“My name is Carter, I’m five, and I think Candie’s bows are stupid.”
“My bows aren’t stupid. Are they?” Candie said hurt evident in her voice. Even at such a young age Blaine could tell she was going to be a dramatic one.
“Yeah they are just like you. You’re not even five yet why are you in this class?” Sarah teased.
“Mommy’s from Lima Heights Adjacent. She wouldn’t like you picking on me.” Candie frowned.
Lima Heights Adjacent? As in Ohio? Hmmm I wonder if I knew her. Blaine thought before relizing he needed to get his class back under control.
“Okay class! That’s enough! Carter, Sarah, be nice. I will not tolerate any bullies in my class. Now apologize to Candie and then we’re going to have some quiet coloring time.” Blaine said trying not to raise his voice but at the same time wanting to seem stern.
Two sorry’s were mumbled and everyone went off to color.
“What a pretty picture Julie.” Blaine smiled at his student.
“Thanks Mr. A, it’s a rainbow!” She said pointing to the five colored lines on top of each other.
“It sure is.” Blaine smiled. “Very nice, I like rainbows.” He smiled.
“My daddy and mommy like rainbows too.” Candie smiled from where she was sitting across the table.
“Do they?” Blaine asked smiling as you would when you talk to a child.
“Uh huh. Daddy gave me a rainbow flag when we went to a parade together. It was for some kind of pride. But I don’t know. Mommy and daddy like rainbows.” She smiled sweetly and resumed coloring.
“Is that so? And what are you coloring Miss Candie?” Blaine asked squatting down to observe her picture.
“It’s my family.” She smiled brightly at the stick figures on the page.
“This is mommy and Auntie Brit.” She said gesturing to two girl stick figures holding hands, one with brown hair the other with yellow. “And this is Auntie Rachel and Uncle Finn.” She said pointing to a tall stick figured guy holding hands with a shorter brown haired stick figured girl. “And this is me.” She said pointing to the littlest one in the middle with the biggest smile. “And this is daddy, he’s all alone. But he has me.” She smiled. “My family loves me.” she giggled before adding hearts to her paper.
Well that’s an um interesting family. “That’s very nice Candie.” Blaine smiled before moving over to look at other people’s drawings.
Before he knew it the day was over and parents were coming to pick up their kids. The only one left in the room was Candie.
“Daddy said mommy was s’possed to come get me after school.” Candie said looking back and forth between Blaine and the doorway.
“It’s okay Candie, I’m sure she’s just running a little late.” Blaine shrugged and patted the little girl on the head in reassurance.
Blaine wasn’t sure what to do in a situation like this, he was new after all.
“Candie, do you know either your mommy or daddy’s phone number so I can call them?” Blaine asked grabbing his cell.
Candie rattled off a number and Blaine hit call without even looking at it.
“Hey Blaine, what’s up? You’re not cancelling on me are you?” A soft voice laughed sweetly over the phone.
“Wait? Who is this?” Blaine looked at his phone in disbelief.
“Kurt? We met at a coffee shop this morning? We’re going out later tonight? You’re the one who called me?” Kurt laughed over the phone.
“Yes Kurt I know who you are. It’s just I’m at school with a student and her ride hasn’t come yet and I was calling her parent and I must have dialed you by mistake.” Blaine laughed at the coincidence until a beautiful woman, no more than twenty, with long dark hair and tanned skin walked in cursing in Spanish and apologizing.
“Hang on I’m going to have to call you back.” Blaine said setting the phone down.
“Hey sweetheart, I’m sorry I’m late. Kurt is a complete idiot and forgot to tell me I was picking you up today. I am so sorry baby. Can you forgive mommy?” The women asked kneeling down next to Candie.
“Of course mommy and daddy’s not an idiot. He’s really smart.” Candie said giggling.
“Yeah yeah I know. He’s probably nervous about his hot date or whatever tonight.” The women laughed playing with Candie’s bow.
“Daddy has a date?” Candie asked excitedly.
“Sure does. Thanks to me and Auntie Rachel.” The women smiled.
“I’m sorry are you Candie’s mother?” Blaine asked.
“Yes, I am. I’m Santana Lopez, I’m so sorry for being late. I got off work late and missed the buss.” The women explained.
“It’s fine. Maybe if you or her father can’t get her on time we can set up a schedule for Candie to attend aftercare.” Blaine suggested.
“It was just this once, her dad started a new job today plus I may have forced him into a date with a stranger so we’re all a little off. We have plenty of family that could’ve come and gotten her. It was my bosses fault for holding me late when she knew I had to catch the bus.” Santana explained.
“Wait? You’re setting your husband up on dates with people?” Blaine asked confused before remembering the little things Candie had said in class that day.
“Husband? Oh no, I’m not married.” Santana laughed. “Wait hold up, I have to take this.” She said answering her phone.
“Sup porcelain.” She greeted.
“Mommy tell daddy I said hi!” Candie smiled.
“Candie says hi.” She said into the phone. “Ugghh Kurt what do you want?...Yes stop being so annoying I got her…I ran a little late but her teacher was kind enough to wait with her…yeah I’ll thank him…he’s a hottie though you may wanna thank him yourself…yeah I know…look I’m sorry about that…Cancel I don’t give a fuck…I will use whatever language I want…he can suck my dick!...yes I’m aware I don’t have one, Britts likes me best without one…haha just cause you’re not getting laid…whatever…fuck you Kurt…shut up I know I already did…love you too…bye.” She spoke aggressively into her phone.
“Um should I ask?” Blaine said giving her a confused look.
“Mommy and daddy fight but they love each other.” Candie smiled.
“Santana, I’d like to have a meeting with you and her father. From what I’ve observed you’re home life is very um unpractical and I thinks its best we all sat down for a meeting.” Blaine said and Santana shrugged grabbing her phone again.
“Sorry babe, looks like you’re gonna have to tell McDreamy from the coffee shop that the dates off, we got a family meeting at school with Frodo.” Santana said before hanging up.
“He’ll be here.” She reassured. “Candie, Uncle Finn’s coming to get you. Okay?” She said petting her hair.
“Daddy promised ice cream.” Candie stated.
“Daddy sucks. Ha! Literally! I’mma tell you that one again when you’re older. It’ll make sense and you’ll think I’m hysterical.” Santana laughed and winked at Blaine.
Blaine’s phone vibrated with one new text message.
From: Kurt “Hey Blaine, I’m so sorry but apparently shit came up and I won’t be able to make our date. Raincheck?”
Well if that wasn’t yet another strange coincidence.

Awwh thank you for reading! I'm having fun writing it! Thanks a bunch <3333
This is a fun set up. Looking forward to the meeting!
Why thank you :) Yeah I've been trying to come up with things she would say and make them as brutally honesty as she would've put them. And it was supossed to be preschool. I don't know. I'm from Maryland and I was three going on four in preschool but all of my friends were all five or six. I was going to make him be a kinergarten teacher but I didn't think with her being like four that'd be normal. And I couldn't make her much older because that would make Kurt and Santana even younger when they had her. Soooo with that said she's super young for her class. I was going to go into detail about that later. Having the other kids older than her would be like a set up for her to be easily picked on. I'm not that mean, but it was going to lead into a father-daughter heart to heart about bullies and courage. I was also going to explain that because they all just moved to New York and got jobs they decided to enroll Candie into school a year early because no one would be home to look after her. It was all going to be worked out, but you're too smart and caught on early! You're just too observant, but everything will all come into play so don't worry your pretty little head. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for the question I guess I need to get to work on setting up everything I just explained in the actually story so other people don't get too confused.
this is great! i love santana the best. i think you've captured her voice the best. and she's not afraid to tell it like it is in front of candie–regardless of language! but i'm confused about one thing. what grade is blaine teaching? preschool or kindergarten? because, based on the ages of the kids, it seems like he's teaching kindergarten and some of the kids were held back. i'd appreciate any clarification.
Hahaha you'd think he'd but two and two together. Thanks for reading :)
Omgg this was great I love Santana and her bad mouth. Doesn't Blaine here Santana keep saying Kurt and put two and two together I know he is thiking something is up.
Coincidence my ass... what are you... blind? Or stupid XD... sorry... had to... that was awesome. lol
im liking it but i dont like how santana is cussing so freely in front of candie. its kind if tacky.
