Author's Notes: Another chapter.

“So how was school today?” Kurt asked getting home just in time to tuck Candie in to bed. “I’m sorry I got home so late, I was asked if I could work overtime and I agreed. But to make it up to you when I get my paycheck on Friday I’ll take you out and buy you ice cream and some new clothes or whatever you’d like. Wow I sound like I’m buying your love. Am I a bad father?” Kurt laughed kissing his daughters dark hair.

“No way! You’re the best daddy ever!!!! Don’t ever let anyone dull your sparkle.” Candie told him hugging him tightly.

Kurt smiled brightly wondering how he could be blessed with a child so perfect.

“Today was good.” Candie smiled. She decided to omit the part about Conner, her father didn’t need the additional worry. Besides after her talk with Mr. Anderson the rest of the day way really good, especially hanging out with him at the café.

“I’m so happy you’re happy.” Kurt smiled.

“How was your day?” Candie asked with a yawn.

“I haven’t even told you about my day and I’m already boring you.” Kurt laughed ruffling her hair.

“No, no, you’re not boring daddy, I’m just tired.” She said muffling another yawn.

“Okay sweet pea, why don’t you get some sleep. We can talk in the morning.” Kurt said kissing her cheek and pulling her covers up snugly. “Good night, love.” Kurt smiled turning out the light and closing the door behind him.

He found that everyone else in the house was asleep so he decided to do the same, lying down on the hard floor, drifting off to sleep with memories of what it felt to be wrapped in Blaine’s arms.

The next morning came quickly, Santana yelling for Candie to get up, and Candie running out of her room, this time instead of stepping on Kurt, completely tripping over him and falling down with a crash.

For Kurt it happened in almost slow motion. Candie leaving her room in a rush, tripping over top of him, falling slowly, plummeting down until her beautiful face collided with the half open bathroom door.

“Candie are you okay?!?” Kurt asked rushing over to her and picking her up in his arms. “What hurts?” He asked looking her over for any abrasions. Noticing the swelling already rising on the side of her face.

“I hit my face on the door knob.” Candie cried, tears leaking from the swollen, half shut, eye.

“Baby I’m so sorry, are you okay?” Kurt said rocking her in his arms moving to the kitchen to grab ice.

“It hurt’s daddy. It hurts.” She cried loudly causing Santana to rush to her side.

“Kurt what the fuck did you do! Give me her! Get ice! Oh my fucking god I swear if you ruined her face I’m going to kill you. What the hell happened?” Santana yelled all at once. It was obvious she wasn’t mad though, she was more so worried and scared for her baby.

“I tripped over daddy. I hit my face on the door. Does it look bad?” Candie cried.

“You’re going to be alright, daddy’s going to get you some ice and everything’s going to be okay.” Santana said repetitively kissing her daughters face.

“San what if she has a black eye?” Kurt asked worried instructing Candie to hold the ice to her face.

“I don’t know. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want her to be hurt. She’s just a baby. Our baby’s hurt.” Santana cried clinging to Kurt as he wrapped his arms around her in a comforting gesture.

“It’s going to be okay San. We just can’t panic. I’ve had more black eyes that I can count. She’ll be fine. She’ll apply ice, and I’ll get her some medicated cream, and everything’s going to be okay.” Kurt replied sensibly.

“Now Candie, are you okay?” Kurt asked moving his daughters hand out of the way to inspect the damage. “Can you open your eye all the way?”

“Yeah I can. I was just scared. But I’m okay.” She replied putting the ice back to her face.

“I’m so glad you’re okay.” Kurt said hugging his daughter and Santana. “I was so worried. Now let’s go get you ready for school and we’ll see if we can’t get that eye fixed up for you.” Kurt said lifting Candie off the kitchen table.

“Dear lord, school is going to think we abuse her or something.” Kurt laughed.

“Shit.” Santana mumbled, Blaine’s words hanging over her. They were certainly in for an interesting day of school.

End Notes: TBC. Sorry for the cliff hanger but that's probably my last update for the afternoon. I may have something later tonight, and if not then tomorrow when I get out of school. Be prepared for some drama coming up. Maybe a Klaine fight, maybe some drunken shenanigins. Who knows. Who knows. Oh wait I do. I guess you'll just have to keep reading :)
