“Glad you two decided to join us.” Mercedes smiled knowingly as Kurt and Blaine walked into the cabin.
“Hey guys, we were just talking. What’s up?” Blaine asked nervously.
He knew lying would never be good, but right now it seemed like the only way.
“Doing ‘bonding’ shit.” Wes laughed.
“Fun.” Blaine laughed sitting down in between Rachel and David.
Kurt joined the circle only sitting on the opposite side between Mercedes and Wes not wanting Blaine to feel any more awkward than necessary.
“So we were just going around asking questions and sharing. Dumb stuff like that, you didn’t miss much.” David smiled.
“Cool, we’ll join in.” Blaine smiled softly.
“Okay, where were we?” Wes asked.
“First kiss.” Mercedes supplied him.
“Finn.” Rachel smiled lovingly.
“Quinn.” Finn said earning a glare from Rachel.
“Katie.” Wes smiled.
“Hasn’t happened.” Mercedes frowned.
“I think her name was either Lacey or Kasey? Something like that. Maybe Tracey. It was in 1st grade, don’t judge me.” David laughed fondly.
“Brittany.” Kurt laughed thinking of the ditzy blonde.
“Brittany doesn’t count Kurt, she’s a girl.” Mercedes smiled.
“Oh well then. Karofsky.” Kurt shuddered.
“KAROFSKY?!?!?” Finn, Rachel, and Mercedes yelled at once in question.
“I wasn’t supposed to say anything.” Kurt frowned.
“When the hell did this happen?” Finn asked.
“A couple months before school let out. He took his insults and locker shoves too far one day so I chased him down and yelled at him. I got all up in his face and when I finished yelling he just kissed me. Jerk stole my first kiss. Then threatened to kill me if I told anyone. So um yeah don’t tell anyone I told you.” Kurt frowned.
“So that’s why he threatened you!” Rachel said finally understanding.
“Yup.” Kurt sighed.
“I’m so sorry about that Kurt.” David sighed.
“It’s fine.” Kurt shrugged.
“What about you Blaine? Who was your first kiss?” Rachel asked.
Kurt chanced a look at Blaine, but he didn’t look up.
“It hasn’t happened yet.” Blaine shrugged.
“Oh my God! You and Mercedes should kiss! It’d be perfect!” Rachel squealed.
Kurt felt his heart rip in half. Not only did Blaine not wish to acknowledge the kiss, among other things, that they had just shared not ten minutes ago happened. But know he might have to witness him kissing Mercedes. It was all too much.
“You’re hot and all, but I don’t want my first kiss being because Rachel Berry said it should happen. I’m waiting for someone special.” Mercedes shrugged.
“It’s fine.” Blaine said completely relieved.
So maybe Mercedes wasn’t really waiting, and didn’t really care. But she saw something was up with her best friend and Blaine and was not going to step in the middle of it.
She didn’t know what happened before they came in, but from the look in Kurt’s eye something did indeed go down. And she was not interfering.
“Awwh. Okay.” Rachel sighed.
“Okay more bonding questions.” David smiled.
“First girlfriend/boyfriend?” Wes asked.
“Finn.” Rachel smiled.
“Quinn.” Finn shrugged off the glare from Rachel.
“None.” David frowned. “Either because I’m too much of a player or because I’m forever alone. I’ll let you decide.” He said with a wink.
“Katie.” Wes smiled fondly.
“…Kurt…” Mercedes blushed.
“I don’t really think we dated ‘Cedes.” Kurt smiled fondly at his best friend.
“We went on dates. You kissed my cheek. We were so in a relationship.” Mercedes laughed defending herself.
“You smashed a rock through the windshield of my car, because I broke your heart.” Kurt laughed kissing his best friend’s cheek.
“You did break my heart. Jerk.” Mercedes teased giving him a hug.
“Yeah but I loved you. You were the first one I came out to.” Kurt smiled lovingly.
“You had no other choice after I accused you of being in love with Rachel.” Mercedes laughed.
“Ha! That was priceless.” Kurt laughed.
“You’re stories are the best.” Wes laughed.
“I was going to say my first girlfriend was Brittany, because that’s the only relationship I’ve ever been in. But I guess Mercedes was my first.” Kurt smiled.
“Yay you acknowledge we had a thing” Mercedes teased.
“Of course I would, I’m not heartless.” Kurt laughed earning an apologetic look from Blaine.
The group continued sharing well into the evening until it was time for Rachel and Mercedes to go back to the girl’s cabin next door.
The way the camp was set up was that there was a mess hall next to the group area and main entrance, and then the activities were set up by the lake and mountain trails, and on the other side there were cabins spread out. Two for each team, girls and boys. But they were right next to each other.
Everyone got ready for bed so they could be well rested for the promising events of the next day and the days to come.
They only two awake in probably the whole camp were Kurt and Blaine.
Blaine lie awake thinking about Kurt and the broken look he had on his face when he had asked him not to speak of their encounter. He did it keep himself safe, selfish yes, but still needed. He just wished he didn’t have to hurt the boy he was quickly falling for in the process.
While Kurt lie awake thinking about what he could have done to make not even want to acknowledge what they shared. He could understand not really wanting to tell people, but to want to blur out the entire memory, that hurt a little. Kurt thought they had a connection, shared something special. Clearly he was wrong.
Both boys sighed and rolled over in their beds. This month and a half would prove to be a long and complicated experience.
