"Kurt! Come back! Are you okay?" Rachel asked being the first to run after him.
"I just wanna go home Rach." He cried and she hugged him before placing both of her hands on his face.
"Look at me Kurt, look at me." She said and he looked up hesitantly. "Tina is a bitter hag with a monstrous crush on Blaine. She's only being rude to you because you mean something to him." Rachel said and Kurt frowned.
"I used to mean something to him, clearly I don't anymore." He said timidly and she sighed.
"You still mean something to him; he's just too stupid to realize it." She said and Kurt laughed. "What does you dad always say?" She asked getting his attention. "No one pushes the Hummel's around. So why are you letting Blaine and Tina or any one of those jerks push you around. You didn't let Karofsky win, why are you letting Blaine? He's literally shorter than me. You could take him, pregnant or not. Don't let him get to you. You are so much stronger than that Kurt. Listen to me, you don't need him. And he doesn't deserve you." Rachel said and Kurt sighed.
"He really is a total douche box." Kurt laughed. "I don't wanna go back in there, but you can. We can leave when glee is over; I don't want to cost Finn his job. I'll probably go sit in the last row of the auditorium, plus I'd really like to hear you sing. I love you Rachel." Kurt smiled and Rachel kissed away his tears.
"I love you too hon, now come on let's go let Santana and Finn know you're okay. Would you like San to sit with you?" Rachel asked and Kurt shook his head no.
"I'd rather be alone." Kurt sighed, might as well get used to being alone.
"Kurt, there you are. Are you okay?" Santana asked.
"Yeah I just got a little worked up, plus the dancing and stage lights made me dizzy." Kurt said placing his hand on his stomach to reassure himself that this was all real.
"I'm glad you're okay. I just told them you were probably sick from the plane ride." Santana said placing a hand on Kurt's back leading towards the auditorium.
Finn returned to his seat next to Mr. Schue, Rachel and Santana sitting in the front row towards the left side so if they turned back they could still see Kurt out of the corner of their eyes to keep an eye on him.
Kitty was starting to sing when Kurt entered.
"Baby when we're touching in the dark, can you feel it? I can hear the pounding of my heart, can you feel it? When you take my body to the stars, I believe it. Boy this love is supernatural, can you feel it?" Kitty sang, she has a really nice voice and her stage presence was absolutely fabulous. She owned it when she was up there, like a shorter Quinn Fabray.
"Come, take me by the hand. Wanna cross the line, baby go ahead gill morning light, watch my silhouette, cause you know tonight we're gonna wake the dead." She sang dancing and shimmying across the stage.
That silhouette line reminded Kurt of watching the statues and counting the shadows with Adam and Santana every time they watched Doctor Who. At least Kurt could always count on his friends. But just like the Doctor, he too needed a companion. He hoped Blaine could be that for him, but sometimes even the Doctor has to face the daleks alone.
"Get a little bit wrong, get a little bit wild. Get a little bit high off of this love tonight, get a little bit raw, come a little undone. Get a little bit reckless, I can't get enough." She sang and ended the song. Everyone applauded and surprisingly no one was insulted by the song or whomever she sung it too. That's probably the first time a song in glee club didn't cause an uproar.
"Great job Kitty." Mr. Schue commended her. "Does anyone else have a Ke$ha song?" He asked and Blaine raised his hand.
"Hey Kurt, I know you're sitting back there. I can see you." Blaine smiled his thousand watt smile and Kurt frowned. "I know I've been really really mean to you since you got here. I guess I'm just a little broken right now. I figured if I pushed you away I could save myself, but I've only hurt you in the process and I'm sorry. Um, I um have a Ke$ha song and I wanted to know if you'd sing it with me. You don't have to. You just have a beautiful voice and I'm sorry." Blaine said sadly and before Kurt registered what his body was doing he was half way towards the stage.
"You can't push people away Blaine, you're not batman. I used to push away the people I love because I didn't want to hurt them, but I realized I pushed them away because I didn't want to be hurt by the ones I love." Kurt said and Blaine smiled softly.
"I know Kurt, I'm sorry. I've been a huge dick." Blaine said softly.
"Huge dicks I don't have a problem with, I just don't like you being mean to me." Kurt teased and Blaine smiled.
Blaine cued up his music and took Kurt's hands in his.
"Here we go, welcome to my funeral. Without you I don't even have a pulse, all alone it's dark and cold, with every move I die." Blaine sang and Kurt caressed his face with their joined hands.
"Here I go, this is my confessional. A lost cause, nobody can save my soul. I am so delusional. With every move I die." Kurt sang and found himself lost in Blaine's eyes.
"I have destroyed our love, it's gone. Payback is sick, it's all my fault." Blaine sang breaking the eye contact and looking down.
"I'm dancing with tears in my eyes. Just fighting to get through the night. I'm losing it. With every move I die." They sang together.
"I'm fading, I'm broken inside. I've wasted the love of my life. I'm losing it with every move I die. When did I become such a hypocrite? Double life, lied that you caught me in. Trust me, I'm paying for it. With every move I die." Blaine sang.
"On the floor I'm just a zombie, who I am is not who I wanna be. I'm such a tragedy. With every move I die." Kurt sang softly.
"I have destroyed our love, it's gone. Payback is sick, it's all my fault." Blaine sang again.
"I'm dancing with tears in my eyes. Just fighting to get through the night. I'm losing it. With every move I die." They sang together.
"I'm faded, I'm broken inside." Kurt sang.
"I've wasted the love of my life." Blaine sang.
"I'm losing it, with every move I die. This is it and now you're really gone this time. Never once thought I'd be in pieces left behind. I'm dancing with tears in my eyes. Just fighting to get through the night. I'm losing it. With every move I die. I'm fading, I'm broken inside." Kurt sang.
"I've wasted the love of my life, I'm losing it." Blaine sang.
"With every move I die." Kurt sang closing the song, hugging Blaine tightly clinging to his body as if he let go he would dissolve into nothing. And right now, after everything he's been through the past day he probably would.
Blaine tried to kiss Kurt, but Kurt deflected, turning his head so Blaine would kiss his cheek. Blaine was being a dick, there was no denying that. Kurt was just so confused right now; he didn't need to add on to that. Yes he would tell Blaine about the baby, but he didn't come here just to get back together. Clearly Blaine had a lot he needed to figure out as well. He needed to sort out his feelings about Sam, find out what the fuck was going on with Tina, he had to figure out where his life was going.
And in that moment Kurt realized he couldn't do this to Blaine. Blaine was a senior in high school; he had his entire life ahead of him. So did Kurt, but this was his responsibility, Blaine didn't have to deal with all of this. Maybe Kurt was afraid of telling him, but maybe Kurt was just concerned. He loved Blaine, but did that love mean he would protect Blaine from ruining his life, or would it mean denying him the right to even know of the child they had conceived together. God it was just so freaking confusing. Maybe right now wasn't the time. He'd go home, talk things out with his dad and Carole and just enjoy himself. Enjoy himself while they were still okay, before things become too overwhelming.
"This songs for Kurt." Rachel announced, Kurt hadn't even realized that he had moved off the stage and Rachel had stepped onto it. He also didn't recollect being held in Blaine's arm as he sat on his lap as Blaine trailed light kisses down his neck. He certainly didn't intend for that to happen, but it was, and well he wasn't going to stop it now. "You're the strongest person I know Kurt, you're a warrior. And we'll always be together no matter what." Rachel smiled and Kurt cheered her on.
"We were born to break the doors down, fighting till the end. It's something that's inside of us, it's how we've always been. Warrior-rior-rior, warrior-rior. Warrior-rior-rior, warrior-rior." Rachel sang and Kurt clapped happily in his seat.
"We are the misfits, we are the bad kids, the degenerates. We ain't perfect but that's all right! Love us or hate us, nothing can break us. Better believe us, times, they are a' changing tonight!" She sang passionately and practically everyone was up on their feet dancing, Kurt even allowing Blaine to twirl him around a bit, dancing like they used to when they were a couple. He felt right in his arms.
"We the ones who flirt with disaster. On your ass, we'll pounce like a panther. Cut the bull shit out with a dagger, with a dagger, with a dagger. Do or die, we all gonna stay young. Shoot the lights out like a machine gun. Think it's time for a revolution, revolution, revolution." Rachel sang.
"We were born to break the doors down, fighting till the end. It's something that's inside of us, it's how we've always been. Warrior-rior-rior, warrior-rior. Warrior-rior-rior, warrior-rior." Rachel sang closing the song as everyone applauded.
When glee club ended Kurt found himself walking Blaine to his car, hand in hand just like it used to be.
"Hey Blaine?" Kurt asked and Blaine smiled. "If I had a secret that impacts both of our lives greatly, but if I didn't tell you you'd never have to deal with the repercussions would you still want me to tell you or would you want me to keep it to myself?" Kurt asked and Blaine stopped walking.
"Kurt, I love you. And I have no idea what you're talking about. I mean I guess I'd want to know. But wouldn't you rather just push it aside so neither of us would have to deal with it. I mean if it's a secret and there will be repercussions if you tell someone, don't you think you shouldn't tell that person?" Blaine said in a pretty patronizing voice.
"I understand." Kurt said a little let down with Blaine's response. He didn't know what he really expected but that wasn't quite it. Oh well. "Thanks for helping me with that, and thanks for the song. I love you Blaine. I guess I'll see you later." Kurt said with a watery smile, kissing Blaine's forehead and walking away.
See you later, he thought to himself, the future seeming so far away and frightening. But that's what the future is, it's full of uncertainty and the unknown. And Kurt wasn't totally going it alone, he had his friends, he had his parents and Finn. And maybe someday he'd have Blaine.
